Gentle reminder that Lana Del Rey with her stunning album Lust For Life and Katy "she's over" Perry with her hit album Witness both charted #1 last year, with Witness opening week sales outselling QUEEF (162,000 pure album OW sales for Witness, only 78,000 pure album sales for QUEEF). Azealia Banks is more relevant in 2018 than Nicki (makes better music too). Enjoy that #2, I guess.

i wasn't tryna shade ye's legacy, dude is my favourite musician of all-time discography wise. it's just funny that his shortest and most low stakes album yet outsold QUEEN

I didn't mean to be ignorant, but it just seemed to me that artist these days are using various tactics to sell albums and tickets. Where do we draw the line? Did Nicki not give bonuses? Was the purpose of getting the album free on Tidal by using the promo "QUEEN" not meant to build hype/spread word/increase the amount of albums out there? Again, we can say Travis cheated, but didn't Nicki "cheat" too? And should "cheating" even matter? I see what your saying about the previous era these type of "sales" not counting, but imo that means we shouldn't compare sales these days to sales back then, but if we're comparing two artist who launched a album close to the same time I don't see why it matters.

Oh yea I wasn't trying to come at you or anything. Late Registration and MBDTF are my 1A/1B Kanye albums, and a lot of his work is good. I honestly haven't followed the sales of "ye" and personally only listened to one track because I don't want to listen to Ye anymore, but Ye really outsold Queen??? Even after his MAGA spouting bullshit? I didn't know that.
Her whole persona, gimmick and lyrics revolve around being the top dog....and she has been for nearly a decade.
Besides that ...i mean it's natural for big artists to want to debut on number 1....especially if it's been 4 years or longer since the last album.
Eh it kinda depends on why that is the case. If they want to be called that just because it helps them promote their business, then who cares. You're not responsible for furthering their business.
I think the issue is that Travis "sold" his album as part of a bundle for as-yet-unannounced tour dates. I think what Nicki is trying to say is that by encouraging Travis, why couldn't another artist sell something like VIP access for $8 and then never tour due to "reasons."
It's a bad excuse because 1) Nicki is doing the exact same thing as Travis with her "Queen" pin and Travis' all-access badge and 2) Nicki's basically doing the same exact thing as Kanye, Drake, Travis, Teyana et al. She might have a point when she said she debuted her album at noon on Friday instead of midnight, but that's her fault. She's the one that decided to premiere the album on "QUEEN RADIO". It's just petty.
