Smash Bros. fanatics are at it again, trying to read between the every narrowing lines of the god Masahiro Sakurai's words and actions. Bloody Tears, purple and yellow chairs, and even plants are being used as evidence for the inclusion of fan favorites like Waluigi, Skull Kid, Geno, and maybe even Goku (???).
But the most important character has yet to be theorized.
At E3 2013, Nintendo of America shocked the world by announcing the ever popular Wii Fit Trainer as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U. As we all know, the Wii Fit Trainer is the main character from the mainstream hit, Wii Sports. Despite being a spin-off character, the Wii Fit Trainer entered the lives of much of humanity for the sake of health.
So, clearly Nintendo has created a similar character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The Nintendo Wii U bombed. Everyone knows this. However, there were several successful titles on the platform, like Splatoon, Super Mario 3D World, and, most notably, Capitan Todd. So far, the Wii U has produced one (1) character for SmUsh (the agreed upon acronym for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch): Inkling Girl. The Inklings were clearly going to be a new character in Ultimate, as seen in the original reveal trailer. But Nintendo needs another representative from the Wii U in order to prove that it was worth the loss of money.
Enter Monita. The flagship character from the fabled Nintendoland series of games for the Wii U, Monita was the living embodiment of the Wii U's two screen setup. Just think about it: she is essentially built for the Smash Bros. franchise! Nintendoland was a celebration of Nintendo history, just like Super Smash Bros. Melee (that was the first game in the series before Sonic). Nintendo needs to put Monita into Smash.
She will be a wonderful addition to the Smash cast, and nerds everywhere will rage once they realize a screen got into Smash before Geno.
What do you think Monita's moveset might look like? Will she be OP, just like Bayonetta? Or will she be lost to time as a joke character, much like Pichu?
