Post your saddest moments in anime

Spoilers for Ashita no Joe

I've seen the show years ago but got back into it recently with Megalo Box, having watched 1000s of anime, after Grave of the Fireflies, this scene is the second one to make me cry man.

What's with the flux of "______ in anime" lately?

Anyway, Grave of the Fireflies. All of it.

The Viking funeral for the Going Merry in One Piece.

After all the adventures the Straw Hats had with the ship and its last voyage, this was pretty sad.

It's really effective at bumming me out. The entire episode gets your hopes up and dashes them all away in two minutes.

Space Dandy is a good show.

This scene is so well done. The music, the way it's framed, the lead up to this point, and just the fact that the story takes so much care to buildup a seriously valuable relationship in a show that generally doesn't put much focus on it, and then still doesn't let it happen. This was a major highlight of Space Dandy for me.

Madoka spoilers incoming:

I don't even like Homura but this sort of culmination of her despair and the realization of what happened to her actually pulled my heartstrings.

When Shin Chan always got noogie by his mother, that really saddened me.

RahXephon. It has been waaaay too long to remember any names, but if you've watched it then you probably know what depressing, fucked up episode/moment I'm talking about.

I looked it up. Ayato fighting Vibrato. Episode 19. God damn.

Gurren Lagann. You know the episode.

Also, as a kid, I always cried during that Buttterfree episode of Pokemon.

Episode 135 of Hunter x Hunter

Outside of films like Grave of the Fireflies I don't think I've ever seen so many grown ass adults brought to tears by an anime and we're not just a single tear shed but full on crying their eyes out kind of tears. This moment is built up to for a very long time and it hits like a freight train when it finally arrives.

I was expected Clannad as soon as I opened this thread, thank you for not disappointing me.

Assassination Classroom

More heartwarming but Hinamatsuri episode 6 had some great cathartic moments that made me tear up.

The entirety of Evangelion's episode 22. I feel like whoever calls Asuka a bitch has skipped this episode.

Also,

death in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
