And 1 Regirock raid done , 1 caught , and that's probably it for me with Legendaries for the next 5 (!) weeks other than Moltres day

In the last 2 weeks of Regirock raids they should bring back Rayquaza alongside him with a shiny chance.

Yeah, I went through the Mew quest-line pretty quickly.

Gonna be a hard balance to stall people without making it frustrating.

Anything that will deliberately "stall" hardcore players will brickwall casual ones. There are still tons of average players working on Mew. It's never going to balanced for hardcore play since it's just not reasonable.

Me to, I'm just at 45 candies, will take me whole year. Biggest problem for me is that there are no many Magikarps around :(
I've been doing Magikarp raids, hatching eggs, and have gotten lucky seeing Magikarp in places. It also helps I live near the beach so I can get some luck there. But yeah, it's a slog.

Almost done though! Just 64 candies left...

:/

If Celebi means evolving Wailmer I might just quit this game all over again.

New update is rolling out to Android now, should come to iOS within the next day or two. Official changelog:

  • You can now use QR Codes to add friends
  • Improved Pokémon Collection search function lets you search using the term "Lucky"
  • You can now view map details for PokéStops on your screen
  • At-a-glance notifications now show when you have sent a Gift or increased your Friendship level with a friend
  • Additional setting options let you hide Recently Caught Pokémon from friends
  • In-game notifications have a new UI and interactive capabilities
  • Various bug fixes and performance update

Looks like some nice QoL improvements, especially on the Friends screen. No more clicking through all 100+ friends to see which I've sent gifts to already!

Here is the full APK teardown from The Silph Road: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRo...ilph_roads_indepth_apk_teardown_of_v01152_is/

The update includes more code for the Pokestop Submissions system, the addition of Meteor Mash charge move and potential EX Raid Pass sharing(!).

I hope this fixes my field research reward stack bug.

"Catch X Unown" for Celebi sounds like a right nightmare, never even seen one. Like I wasn't even sure if they spawned in the wild, was thinking it was only at special events like Go Fest.

Why do you think this will be a quest?

Might be a quest for the upcoming Japan event only.

The Celebi list that's out there right now was just for Go Fest - I would expect a different list of tasks and rewards when it goes live on Monday - also for people who missed finishing the quest the Unown part changed to catch X psychic to allow them to finish it off.

I would love some of the rewards to remain the same (especially Torkoal) - https://pokemongohub.net/post/guide/celebi-quest-guide-go-fest/

Old challenges :

Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms
Earn 1 Candy walking with your buddy
Catch 15 Pokémon

Catch 10 Fire-Type Pokemon
Catch 10 Water-Type Pokemon
Catch 10 Grass-Type Pokemon
Catch 10 Steel-Type Pokemon
Catch 10 Rock-Type Pokemon
Catch 10 Ice-Type Pokemon

Catch 7 Unown
Spin 3 PokeStops or Gyms
Hatch 3 Eggs

Catch 5 Plusle
Catch 5 Minun

Old rewards :

1000 Stardust, 3 Incense, 50 Pokeball
2000 Stardust, 3 Super Incubators and 20 Ultra Balls
Torkoal
Ludicolo
Shiftry
Metagross
Aggron
Walrein
Celebi encounter, 10 Golden Razz Berries, 3000 Stardust
20 Celebi Candy, 4000 Stardust and 10 Pinap Berries

But its much more likely we'll get a fresh set of quests

Well my problem is the magicarp. I already evolved one 2 years ago. So I had to start from scratch, and since then there are 3 gens watering down the encounter rate. So after about 60 km or so I have about 210 candies. I'll get there in about 2 weeks.

To be fair the pineapples weren't a thing 2 years ago, so it nearly balances out.

I don't think they care if hardcore players get it in 10-15 hours of playing.

Most of the casuals I know still are working on it. I'd guess the data is more in this realm than in people finishing it too quickly

For Magikarp candies remember :
One of the daily quests (catch 10 pokemon for an encounter) is a Magikarp
You can gain Magikarp candies by feeding either a Magikarp or a Gyarados berries in a gym
If you have friends playing any 'rubbish' Karp you can get be traded with them for the chance to get a better one but more importantly more candies than just sending your originally caught one to the professor (they can also trade you Karp they catch and when you send it to the professor you will gain candy for that).
And as you already mentioned distance i'll assume your walking with either a Karp or a Gyarados as your buddy so your gaining at least 1 candy every km

My Rhydon has been stuck at a gym for two days now. Niantic really needs to just do an auto-kick after like 8 hours or however many you need to get 50 coins

This is so dumb.

They should make it so you can get 50 a day from the same gym. But that would be giving too much coins away when they want you to buy coins.

What do the Pokemon levels mean? If it's a lvl 20, does it mean it can't reach 30/35/40 Pokemon CP?

I have a 100 IV Shellgon but it's level 20. Wondering if I should evolve it.

Pokemon can level 1 through level 40. Any Pokemon can be powered up to level 40 (assuming a trainer level of at least 38; below that you are capped to two levels above your current trainer level). The position of the white dot on the semicircle on top of the Pokemon information screen is a graphical representation of the Pokemon's level in comparison to the maximum level you can currently obtain.

What differentiates Pokemon are their IVs, which represent a bonus to how powerful a Pokemon is relative to their level. IVs remain unchanged while powering up and currently only change upon trading a Pokemon away.

Also what is the point of the level 1 raids like Magikarp and Charmanders? Is there a high chance of getting a shiny or something?
Generally Pokemon appearing in any tier raids are Pokemon that are otherwise difficult to encounter, and are usually relevant to research tasks in some way. Increased Shiny odds are also a thing that have been observed, yes.

.

Confused about something. I'm trainer level 37, and just recently maxed out my highest level Pokemon. Before when I would max them, the stardust counter and power up button remained but was faded out, and it would read "trainer level to low". Now my Pokemon are maxed out and that button is completely absent from the screen. Is level 37 the highest trainer level you need to be too max out a Pokemon? Or did an update change it and now I can't see the button to upgrade them when I'm not a high enough trainer level?

It's a weird bug related to a legacy issue. While the Pokémon level cap is 40, for a long time it was impossible to level past 39 without using a 3rd party app or certain tricks, because the option to power up would disappear. The power up option still disappears at level 39 to this day, though now it will return once the player hits level 38. My guess is they never actually solved the root cause of the bug, so they hacked together a fix that forces the button to reappear at level 38.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the info.
