I loved the first one a whole lot, but I got burned so bad when they had me start from scatch every time I finished a level .

Please let this be not the case this time. :(

The chapter structure was actually kinda cool, but the fact that you knew your town was gonna get destroyed by the final boss every time was detrimental to me enjoyment of the game. It became like, why bother spending time and energy on this thing that's gonna get wrecked and never returned to.

If they fix this, my hype will increase substantially.

Now that I think about it...do we know anything about the structure of the sequel? I know about the water, glider, etc.

I am, it's one of those games that I purposely waited for the sequel because I knew it would be more polished.

I'm a big fan of Terraria and Creativerse but can't stand the dated textures of Minecraft...so this game is perfect for me.

In on day one. Love DQB so much I own it on Switch, PS4, and Vita. It's also kryptonite for my son, since it combines everything he really digs about games into one package. Ability to play 2p co-op on one machine will be super clutch.

Wait... I said earlier that it was one of my most awaited for this year...

But has any release date been announced?
I was sure it was slated fall 2018, but I can't find anything...

I really enjoyed the first game and so did my family. However, it was a "one and done" for me. I finished the story and never touched it again.

I'm incredibly excited for it. DQB is possibly the best game Square-Enix has put out in years.

I'm a little sad that the sequel isn't coming to Vita since I just started really using my Vita a lot after a hiatus, and I'm not sure I want to drop $40 for the first one.

That said I hope the chapter structure is different this time, or at very least have some sort of mechanic in the game that restores your town after finishing the boss and allowing you to return to all of your old towns anytime you want via a portal.

Either way I need this asap but don't have any confidence we'll get it in the West this year.

I didn't like how you had to be multiple towns and all the towns were very small.

Give me one central town to build and make quests a little more interesting and I'll come back.

I really hope they keep the multiple towns. It was very satisfying to know that a town was done, and I could move on to a new town with new problems and new recipes. My main hope though, is that you can share more than one creation.

Late to the party but I've been playing DQB this week and having a really really good time. I think multiplayer will take it to a whole other level, very excited for that.

Played DQB in July. Love the first game. Got it after I read it described as (paraphrase) "an RPG where you solve people's problems through block building." It feels so much more pleasurable to play than I recall Minecraft feeling, and clicked with me immediately.

First game was great and went a long way towards opening up the Minecraft genre for people who want direction to help them get creative. Minecraft is a lot of lego, DQB is a lot more basic problem-solving but you could get fairly elaborate in how you tried to get there. My fascination on the first one was figuring out how to build my core town to survive whatever the final boss battle was intact as best it could.

There were definite big openings for improvement (each chapter being completely independent and lengthy made individual chapters super rewarding, but also made it easy to fall off between chapters since starting a new one always meant going back to the least exciting part of the game for a while as you unlocked stuff), but I'm hyped regardless.

I was excited for the first game after playing the demo, but then I bought the game and couldn't be bothered to play for more than a day. I feel pretty bad about that. Dunno if I want to skip it and go to Builders 2 or not, or just forget about it.

^^Yes, my favorite part was how the player's town becomes the stage for boss fights. It was so epic having to jump on top of my town walls and roofs to fight the second boss, and getting enraged as its minions smashed their way in while I was busy fighting the boss. The challenge becomes unique to each player even with the same boss since they build their towns differently. I had a wall surrounding the town and had to jump on top of buildings, get onto the walls and lucked out that I had things set up to aim properly.

I recently got back to the first game. I like the game enough, but not really excited for the sequel. Maybe in 2020.

I put about 90 hours into the first game and had to delete my save to stop me from endlessly tinkering. I fear the second game...

I bought the first one on a whim and absolutely loved it to bits.

Can't wait for the sequel

I'm honestly interested to see what the scenario is going to be like this time. I loved that the first one was an alternate-take on the original DQ story and took place in recognizable regions (Rimuldar, Charlock Castle). That whole past part going to the DragonLord's castle and land was crazy fun.

Anybody knows if they got rid of the annoying "chapter" game model?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed that mechanic. It allowed each section or "chapter" to have a different focus and make you change your game-plan, the best example being the poison section. You had to change from just mindlessly gathering everything in the first chapter to focusing solely on survival for a bit, and made getting a footing for your base much more intense. It was a nice change of pace. The only thing I'd like to drastically change is each chapter giving you at least one game-changing item that always stays with you (ex. the car you got after chapter 3(?)). You need something to show for all the work you did in the last chapter, after all!

From what we heard, DQB2 is a story sequel to the first game. So DQB created a parallel timeline in which DQB2 also takes place. Also, the sequel has story ties to Dragon Quest 2. So it's going to be like that story, but in the parallel timeline. Kind of like the second Chris Pines Star Trek movie, I guess.

I loved the first game, though I felt there were definitely some gameplay shortcomings. Especially in the combat department. As long as those things are addressed, I'm all in.

lol i just received this game yesterday. Oh well, it'll still be a long time before it comes over here so I'd be able to pump plenty of hours into it

Loved the first one on Switch. A quality of life improvement would be layer slicing, so that you could actually build second floors or roofs without the camera being annoying when entering an interior.

Loved the game on the first 10 hours, but dropped it when I realized that it would get very tedious to finish the game.

Also if I'm not wrong, the american reléase has a dumb bug that screws the camera of the camera

I gave DQ Builders a try and I ended up loving it, even though I never play games like those. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I loved the first game (Best Square Enix game of 2016 brehs) and can't wait for the sequel.

I'm just hesitating between the crispy clean 60FPS PS4 version and the portability of the Switch version (I didn't like how the first game looked on switch).

60FPS on Switch would be a non brainer though.
