I'm so excited for this. I've played enough of it on PS4 to know I'm going to like it, but not so much that it'll feel boring playing it again on Switch. Can't wait. Also, I hope this is the beginning of seeing more Blizzard games on Switch in the future.

Annnnnnd a new Reggie gif is born!

Day one purchase for me. Switch second half of the year is going to be a pricey one...

We need more black figures in the video game industry.

I understand Nintendo is its own special brand of hell when it comes to profiles/saves but for anyone who has played the other console versions how friendly is this likely going to be between playing 2 player on a single switch and then transferring one character to play multiplayer on 2 switches? Or vice-versa starting out on 2 switches and combining down to one for TV play? Is it normally a sign into your blizzard account and all good or more involved?

If it is like other Switch games, you just select which user is playing the game when starting up the software and it loads that users save file.

From the article:
Online play will be via Nintendo's new paid service, which launches next month. Blizzard revealed that the service's cloud saving system will automatically back up progress made offline in the background once the Switch has an internet connection, without requiring the game to be launched, or any other manual process.

If you have a Diablo 3 cloud save, you'll be able to load your profile onto a friend's Switch so you can use your characters with them in local play on a single console.

Considering HS can run like shit on my high end PC (and my iphone X), I really fear what a switch port would look like. Their usage of Unity is just not good, and I say this as a person who plays several hours of HS most days.
I played HS on my MacBook Air 2013/iPhone SE and never had any problems. Some frame drops maybe, but no freezes.

Super weird. But who knows what kind of problems exist under the nice and polished outside of HS>.>

This is what they've been doing this whole time! Thanks for this. Now we know what the main three Switch port studios have been working on this year:

Virtuos: Dark Souls Remastered
Panic Button: Wolf 2/Warframe
Iron Galaxy: Diablos 3 Remastered

I wonder what Tantalus has been up to since they ported Rime...

Mmmmm now you got me interested since I never got around buying the necro DLC for the PC version. How does it control? Is it something similar to the Arena of Valor MOBA where you move with the left stick, aim your abilities with the right stick, fire them with the triggers and auto attack with your weapon whatever is in range?

Definitely tempted. I just don't like playing on a PC anymore so this is instantly on my list.

What about the music for this game? Is it good? I've never played a Diablo game before.

This is definitely a podcast game for me. Aside from a couple of tracks, it doesn't really stand out.

Yeah, except there are no auto attacks. You'll have to press a button or trigger (or hold it down) to use a skill. Any skill can be assigned to any button, so you can even remove your basic attacks if you want.

I am the same way I enjoy the console version much more than the PC version. The Switch seems like a perfect fit for this game and I am interested but I am going to wait for performance impressions, I remember the monster density on 360/PS3 was not good.

I'm stoked! This is the kind of meaty game that I want. Imagine if Nintendo could've had this and the new Doom game announcement for E3 (as well as keeping the shadow drop of Fortnite a secret). It could have actually been an exciting E3 instead of pseudo Smash Direct.

keep in mind this will all be new to a lot of players and the content that has been built up over 6 years will likely feel completely overwhelming compared to a series veteran.

let them worry about Seasonal fatigue and end-game problems when they get to that bridge 100+ hours from now.

That reminds me, thank you for that excellent post in the previous thread. It really explains the attraction well, basically if you play the story mode more than once you are doing it wrong

Well to be fair, the 360 version didn't have the expansion or the all-important Adventure mode, which a lot of those density increases were present in. It was pretty much a 1:1 version of vanillla D3, but with better drop rates and unfucked stats on gear - and eventually those features got patched into the PC version before the expansion dropped.

Higher mob density is a key feature for Adventure mode since it helps with the overall game flow. I'm not saying it'll be exactly the same on Switch mind you - just I doubt blizzard would do anything too drastic that would hurt the overall experience.

This is excellent explanation. The 360 and PS3 versions can't also be updated which is why they are gimped it's not even power limiting them.

Was excited about this announcement, but is it me or does the graphics look like complete ass? Is that what it looked like on PS3/PS4? (I played this on PC)

I'm unsure of this but they may have been working on Sonic Mania Plus? Other than that yeah I do wonder about them too.

Edit: They might have been working on the bigger patch for Rime as well. That was much earlier in the year though...

"Diablo 3 on Switch will run at 60 frames per second "across the board", at a native 720p resolution in handheld mode, and at 960p in docked mode, Stilwell revealed. Other than resolution, "you shouldn't notice anything different" between docked and handheld play."

Thanks Eurogamer. Pretty surprised its 60fps TBH. I thought it would be native res, but 30fps. Really looking forward to this.

Now just to decide what class to start with.....

So Era, I've never played a Diablo game before, but from what I've seen this seems right up my alley. Would this be an easy game to pick up and play? Is the local multiplayer any good? I've been in the mood for some couch coop and this looks like it would lend itself perfectly to that.

That's basically XBOX One territory, which struggled through run above 900p in initial builds. Bonkers if true.
