Well done. I hope we'll see more gestures like this (even if it's just symbolic), so when future generations read the history books they can be told that there were some honorable people in high places left who did speak out against this disgrace. Most did not, unfortunately.

I feel like they're going to double down like they usually do 300% of the time. He'll get a nickname during Trump's daily Twitter outburst (Traitorous Bill McRaven or something equally as dumb), they'll accuse him of bias, disrespect, being part of the deep state, etc. They'll find and expose any negative part of his service record. They'll say he took too long in finding bin Laden and, had Trump been president, we would have had him within a week with no invasion of the Middle East.

They don't normally revoke security clearance from any of these guys because they may want to talk to them about upcoming situations that they may have good advice or perspectives on. These guys have spent often decades in service and have a wealth of knowledge that it would be stupid to shut the door on. So most administrations will bring them back in if desired to give their thoughts on certain national security issues.
Unless you're a spiteful bitch like Trump, that is. Then you just close the door on that resource out of pettiness.

he's not pandering to people in the seal community, some of whom have already publicly shown more than what would be considered reasonable support for Trump. He's talking to Americans who might notice a General telling the President that the President is a shitty leader.
