What "if" she just tripped and fell and hit her head getting off the bus?

Working on that also.
Love how people are like "I can't condone this violence! It's so fucked up!" And I'm like "Just don't be racist." People out here everyday getting shot by police for dumb ass shit like wearing hoodies and white people want to say "He shouldn't have been looking like a thug" when people get shot but defend people for being racist? Double standard as hell. Just don't be racist. It isn't that fucking hard.

Maybe we shouldn't equate not liking them beating up a racist old lady for being racist to being a fake ally. I've been called a nigger several times throughout my life and no time did it ever feel anywhere as bad as being beaten into a hospital. So yeah, you can definitely argue that she went overboard with her reaction.
They would call us nigger then whip us, it's poetic to whip their ass for saying it nowadays.

Real talk, I got so much shit for my hair as a kid. "Why is it like that? It's like a brillo pad! It's so fucking weird". No one had any answers for what I should do when people dug into me for that. And it didn't stop until I chokeslammed a kid through a desk.

But I tried that. "you mop head, you stick, you...you...literal bastion of what the world tells me is normal".

Fuck off with that "just insult them back" shit.
Same here. I got teased on the bus by this pos in particular for being heavy. Every damn day I got on he'd say something about my weight. The Bus driver didn't give a shit.

What made him stop? I turned around one time and flung by backpack full of book right into his face. He never did it again. I put up with that shit for months. Everybody, and I mean everybody, has a breaking point.

People who don't like violence are fake allies now. Just because some one is being racist doesn't mean any response is appropriate. If she was shot would you say the same thing?
I wouldn't shed any tears if a racist person dies. With that said, I don't think everyone has to agree that violence is an appropriate response. That's a perfectly reasonable stance.

Uhhh... Didn't read the article, but based on the video, the altercation seems like it started due to the people she was yelling at playing their music out loud, which is annoying as fuck on public transit, and I'm surprised the bus driver didn't tell them to turn it off. Then they start physically assaulting her because she's yelling at them.

I'm not condoning her racism, but they seem to have started the whole thing and immediately resorted to violence before she even said the word. And that last shot of her bleeding really badly on the ground outside doesn't help them at all.

How's that whole "sticks and stones" thing go? They'd already been filming her. Put her on blast on social media for this shit and call attention to how shit she is. Don't beat her though.

I mean, violence worked on Nazis.
Did I miss the part where this woman is the leader of a group about to commit genocide?

Can we somehow punish all involved?

Charge the racist woman for disturbing the peace and inciting violence, and find out whoever assaulted her and charge them too.

How's that work then? Offsetting charges like offsetting penalties in the NFL?
If the person who assualted her was black I would never trust the criminal justice system to give them a fair shot.

What if, as she was stepping off the bus, aliens tried to abduct her; but the abducto beam failed and dropped her on her head? Hmmmm ever think about that? Check mate.

What a dumb piece of shit this lady is. Maybe she'll think twice about letting her racism run free.

Btw I wish queer people would start serving beatdowns like this when people pop off at us.

Another person telling black people how to act and respond, doesn't this shit get old? "Stop playing your music so loud! Stop getting mad at racism! That bus driver should've helped the poor white racist. Now now settle down!"

Get off your fucking high horse.

I have no strong feelings about her getting her ass beat. Sorry.

That is a huge issue, way bigger than racism right? Just as bad as being dehumanized.

So if I tell you to turn the music down, it's ok for me to expect to be smacked in the back of the head?

Seems reasonable.

The racist lady's reaction to that though was uncalled for. At that point, I'd just get up and move to a different seat.

White Americans exist without any frame of reference for being held accountable for racism, so the "they didn't have to beat her..." in this thread is unsurprising.

If white Americans were more afraid of physical retaliation for their racism maybe they'd be a little less racist?

Absolutely not. Did you read my post, or is everybody just gonna dogpile on me now without even thinking straight?

They're blasting their music on public transit. Shit's annoying. She starts yelling at them, they physically assault her, then she calls them the n word as she gets off (I didn't defend this by the way), so somebody beats her even more.

It does when said "ally" is more interested in making sure black people play nice and respond to racism just the right way instead of the actions of the racist. If we're making up what if scenario: there's more than enough of them where black people would simply yell at said racist in response and, in a world built by white supremacy, that black person would still be in the wrong for not just staying quiet and taking it. If you want to be an ally, you should start switching your framing to acknowledge a world where only black silence is of value and any negative response to centuries and centuries of racism is frowned upon. Then you'll at least be close to empathizing with black people who have to hear the N-word come out of the mouths of white people in 2018.
I think for any situations there are appropriate, gray and unacceptable responses. To me this is gray, but to those who point the action wasnt appropriate it does not mean they do not recognize the struggle of black people in that scenario. Violence may be too much for them, but that does not mean they are in favor of silence just not this specific response.

I don't enjoy violence, but there are codes of conduct in society and if you break them, well quite frankly I don't feel sorry for you if you get your ass beat.

Being racist is one of them, groping someone without their consent is another, sleeping with someone else's partner, etc. etc. I mean do stuff like that and you might get your ass beat.

I'm not for non-violence in every situation, there are situations in which certain behavior needs to be met with violence so that its understood such behavior is not acceptable. It would be nice if every situation could be settled diplomatically, but that's not the reality of the world of today.

Actions have consequences

Speaking is an action

Simple as that, create a verbal threat, reap what you sow

The lady could've minded her fucking business, she's authority figure to tell others what they or can't do. Simple as that.

Just cause your skin a fair complexion doesn't give you the right to tell others, that your privilege allows you to speak up just cause of the pigmentation of your skin being a few hue lighter.

I don't give a fuck how loud your music is in public. You're in PUBLIC. The world doesn't revolve around white people feeling at peace 24/7.

Also I love the idea that you going to bat for a racist has brought you to a dead-end argument where your only deflection is some half-assed concern trolling about loud music. Beyond pathetic.
