What is this? Is it part of Hearthstone? I haven't played that in ages.

Hearthstone is a competitive CCG but last years they added solo adventures/missions.
At first they were paid adventures (I rember buying Nexxaramss and Kardazan or how they are spelled) and they played like the main game...ie you had to pre build your deck before adventuring against fixed bosses.
My personal problem with Hearthstone, or CCG in general, is that there are way too many cards now and starting building a deck is a daunting task.
I'm an avid card game player but deckbuilders are more my thing (over CCG).
Last year they started adding more solo adventures that play like typical deckbuilders (incidentally after they hired Dream Quest dev).
Those are also completely free.

You start with a super small prebuilt deck and after defeating the story bosses you get to choose which new 3 cards to add to your deck.
Plays a bit like Meteorfall, Nigh of the Full Moon, Dream Quest etc...

If you like those I really recommend you to try out Catacombs and Cobolds or Mirkwood.
On top of that, Blizzard production value is unbeatable.

Thanks. I have played Hearthstone before. Just didn't know they had added solo adventures.

Just redownloaded it. I know it has high production values but 2.6 GB for a card game is pretty insane (probably the reason I deleted it the first time).

Still recommend Wonder Blade. It's fantastic. Wish more people here were playing it!

And Barbearian is growing on me and getting better the further in I get.

I'm an avid digital card player since Ascension and tbh the new solo modes in Heartstone are pretty awesome imho.
Especially if you like 'in run' deckbuilders like I do.
I think I have all of them but if you have some favorites that you think are better/I might have missed, please share!!!

sure, i don't know if pitta plays games outside mobile so:

netrunner in real life
pokemon sealed decks in the tcg tablet client
mtg: arena beta in pc (and eventual mobile client)
sentinels star realm / ascension / for pure mobile deckbuilding

are all better options - hs is a very polished gatcha style time waster but not much else

Well...I was talking about digital of course.
In real life I play a ton of Magic still, Pokemon with my son, LOTR LCG.
Don't like Netrunner that much (setting mostly).
I'm in the upcoming beta for the new GW Age of Sigmar Champions too.

I play daily several games of Star Realms and Race for the Galaxy, I stopped playing Ascension long ago after playing it furiously for like 2years (I don't like that it's still more of a solo race than proper fight).
This doesn't cancel the fact that imho latest solo modes of Hearthstone are pretty dope if you like digital deckbuilders.
IMHO of course....I also took the chance to write that because I knew some here like in run deckbuilders and maybe didn't knew about Minsters runs in HS.

Yeah it's almost 3 Gb, but production values are out of the roof.
Tons of effects and voices/sounds/dubbing for each card plus cutscenes.
Tell me if you like it...I rembe you liked Night of the full moon....try Catacombs and Kobolds first!

Wonder Blade looks cool, but I backed away when I noticed a few screenshots showed what looks to be a Y button prompt? I generally shy away from action based games on iOS as I have no desire to use a controller with my device nor use virtual controls. (Personal issue... :)

the in-run deckbuilding solo mode in HS is very polished, for sure, but i feel like even they seem to lack a challenge. the old solo modes were pretty tough - though they required you to use your collection and build a deck which may be prohibitive.

what is the new GW game like?

i wish the pokemon tcg came out with a phone client, it could have been really big. now i'm just waiting for Artifact, hoping it fills a niche i think is still lacking

AoS Champions is already out in English speaking countries (still not distributed in mainland Europe).
The digital app is out also (look for Age of Sigmar Champions) but right now the game is locked unless you are a founder or invited to the beta.
You can scan real life cards or see the whole collection tough.
It's an evolution of Lightseekers by Playfusion (also in the AppStore, fully playable).
It's a direct confrontation CCG with a cool 'time/Card turning' mechanic.
I played only Lightseekers so far tough, so I can't really speak about Champions (which setting I much prefer anyway) but I'm reading good things about it.
I just wish the app will be async (the real big bummer of hearthstone imho).

Had anyone played Evergarden yet? Looks good but after buying Barbearian, I'd like to hear some impressions before spending some more money this week.

Evergarden is pretty awesome. The base puzzling is fun and reminds me a little bit of Threes in the sense that you're combining levels of plants to make bigger plants. There's also a weird kind of narrative arc, secret unlocks, and pesky critters that can mess up your garden. Review pending, but my early impression is pretty positive.

Hi! I'm interested in th game which look gorgeous, congrats.
Is there a story to discover?
Or just puzzles?

There's a story! The game is a puzzle adventure game, which here means that it's an adventure game that you progress by completing actions in the puzzle board. If you just want to play it strictly as a high score puzzle game you can do that too. The mechanics are super deep and engaging, and the world is beautiful.

Thanks, just bought the game and played for 30 mins.
I just paused to let you know that I had a blast and as soon as I close this post I'll resume playing.

Ultra polished presentation and the game really surprised me, couldn't really tell from videos what it was about, but I confess I tried not too see that much as I heard it was better experienced first hand.
The game mechanic is more complex than I anticipated.
I mean, the mechanic is simple per se but you have to think hard pretty early in the game (I won't spoil).

Reminds me a blend between triple town and threes, in a mysterious setting.
I'll be back with more impressions later, but so far I had a blast.

One think you may want to pass to your developers, is that the game (which looks absolutely GORGEOUS on iPhone X) heats up the battery a bit too much imho...maybe some optimization is in order.
Nothing absurd (not Fortnite levels) but still I wasn't expecting it.

Music is top notch too.
I kept hearing about the serene atmosphere, which is true....to a degree....I don't know why but while playing I have some sort of sense of danger in this weird forest...which is pretty cool.

Back playing.

FUCKING RABBITS.

Ok, Evergarden is pretty great.

Not sure my brain will endure the whole game, sometimes it's really hard but when you manage to escape an impossible situation you feel like a pure genious.

Brilliant.

One Hour, One Life the really strange and unique civilization MMO by Jason Rohrer has been ported to iOS and is available now:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/one-hour-one-life-for-mobile/id1386813914

Huh, that's a really neat concept. Survival games aren't generally my type of game though so I'm not sure I'd enjoy OHOL.

I grabbed Splitter Critters on sale. I had been meaning to try the game, but then forgot. I didn't expect that undoing your cuts would be a main mechanic, making the game feel more like a puzzle platformer at times, but the game's decent. I've already gotten through 42 levels so the puzzles so far aren't that challenging, but still a nice little puzzle game.

It's fantastic! Keep going - I'm sure you can make it to the end. :)

Re: the battery situation, this has already been improved in version 1.0, which has been held up in Apple's approval process for a while due to a backlog on their end. That's why it says 0.9 on the title screen despite saying 1.0 on Steam...

That said, it's still not perfect on 1.0. It'll be the subject of continued optimizations over time. I'm glad to hear it looks excellent on iPhone X. I'm planning to upgrade to an X successor if it gets announced next month, so I'm looking forward to that myself...

Does anyone know exactly how "redeem purchases" in free games work? Usually I'm able to get old IAPs in games reapplied but I recently downloaded Redungeon and it's not finding my old ad-remover purchase, any ideas?

In Redungeon go to settings (in a game over screen) and hit the dollar sign with a recycle logo around it. There should be a restore button on any game with permanent IAPs

Ended up picking Wonder Blade and oh my... wow... theres a lot going on, combos, air combos, special moves, grabs and everything just seems to work seamless. The animations are excellent and the game is fluid and fast. Feels like a steal at 3$

Not Tonight, a Brexit Papers Please-like that's really good and out now on PC could potentially come to iPad. It's great on PC but it really screams for a touch interface so that's good to hear.

I'm surprised by Legend of Solgard model.

It has the super cool mechanics of M&M:Clash (only game I miss not having being updated, I used to play async A LOT against a friend) and the usual freemium heavy trash but....after you endure the first 1000000 ultra easy levels it gets pretty complex, not something you would expect from a f2p game, I wonder which is the target.
It would be a great premium title.

This reminds me Ubisoft should do a sequel or a remaster of the original one.

Worth fighting through the F2P junk then for Solgard?

If you've played CoH then there's little for you there It's literally the same gameplay but quite soulless and with that 10000 levels stuff that King lives to do. Plus, eventually, you'll need to grind so... That's a no for me.

That sucks. Really do wish we could get Clash of Heroes back.

Im fine with it, make the thread when you can no hurry from me. Keep up the good job

And i also got Barberian... is more strategic and less of a button masher and i really like it for that. With zoom to 130 is glorious. The minions help a lot and can give stategic advantages. And plenty of upgrades the premium way. Glad i got both Barbearian and Wonder Blade since they seem to compliment each other so well. Have hacking and slashing for a while.

Yep, I really like both of the games. Wonder Blade gets really hard. Read on TA that the dev submitted an update to balance it a bit more for the bosses in particular.

Ah thats good because the monster on the second level (the one who kills the guards on the entrance of the cave) humillates me every single time...

Your plate may be full of action games right now, but Oddmar is an absolute must imho.

Ok so Oddmar it is. I might get Suzy as well but Oddmar first.

Brilliant game with brilliant mechanics that get added while you play and discover.
I like everything about the game, but the most brilliant thing is that as soon as you discover how to make the monoliths you will proceed in the story and other puzzles no matter how good you are in the main gameplay.
I'm several hours in still discovering new things, plus I have some items I have no clue about what they do yet.

Highly recommended, it misses only iCloud sync and better iPhone X optimization (I suspect the real time shadows are the cause, because on iPad Air, pictured, where shadows are way worse....the problem doesn't exist).
Fully premium experience...if you like these kind of games devs must be supported.
Icing on the cake, awesome presentation....it really shows a lot of love was put into this game.
