Unreleased 1994 platformer Project Hardcore (DICE) coming to PS4, PS Vita in first half of 2019

Vita has a hardcore fanbase and cross-buy/cross-play makes porting certain types of games to the system still viable. This likely wouldn't be coming to Vita if it also weren't receiving a PS4 version.
I mean, thanks to a digital price reduction that saw it slashed down to £12, I'm playing Danganronpa V3 on mine right now. It's either that or pay something substantially higher to play it on the PS4.

Wow. I remember mentioning this game in an old interview I did with the Digital Illusions guys. Can't remember if they told me about it or if I had researched it elsewhere.
DICE were branching out of pinball games, but after Benefactor (and this) they went into racing instead, before finally settling on FPS.

90s european action platformers like turrican definitely had their own specific vibe. its really not that confusing

My guess is that this was in the works for the PS4 and Sony asked them to also make a Vita port as token support, like happened with many other indie games.

I think I might've read about this game in a Amiga mag back in the day, or maybe it was some sort of other gaming mag. Getting strong Amiga vibes from the trailer, reminds me a little of Team 17's Assassin crossed with visuals inspired by Chaos Engine.
Will be very interesting to try this out, love it when old unreleased games get released like this, it's like a hidden treasure! :)

This is making me feel old - I remember reading previews for it. I'm definitely grabbing this!
I'm curious to know what is meant be 'Euro-style Metroidvania'; the Amiga didn't lend itself to the genre because the lack of inputs (just one fire button) meant you really couldn't wield & combine multiple abilities in action games*. I'd expect it to be based around a traditional level structure. However, it definitely has a Turrican feel - lots of jumping and exploring in all directions.
*probably the best and only true Metroidvania on the Amiga was Odyssey, which let you transform into animals, with each animal having its own unique skill

Graphics style also screams Amiga/Bitmap Brothers, as other people already mentioned.
I might get a second hand Vita just to play this one, lol.
Last I checked there is a 50K bonus for indie devs if they make the game exclusive to Playstation platforms, at least time exclusive.
