Looks a lot like TURRICAN!
(but more like the later Turricans with more linear level progression)
Also a bit of CHAOS ENGINE in there, or at least that rounded Bitmap Bros art style.

This is so crazy. When are unreleased NES games hitting us? I want to get my hand on James Worthy's Dunk-Out!

Wow. I remember mentioning this game in an old interview I did with the Digital Illusions guys. Can't remember if they told me about it or if I had researched it elsewhere.

DICE were branching out of pinball games, but after Benefactor (and this) they went into racing instead, before finally settling on FPS.

I just found out about this, the story about this project is fascinating, also love this part:

Hardcore (working title), is being developed using original Sega Mega Drive development hardware. It will then be ported to run on modern platforms. We intend to finish the game the way it was meant to be played! With input from the original developers, we try to add the missing tank levels back into the game.

Now, that's commitment.

Ok, so a Turrican-like game is coming.

Can't be happy enough ^^ (would be happier if it was coming to PC and/or Switch too but still !).

I think I might've read about this game in a Amiga mag back in the day, or maybe it was some sort of other gaming mag. Getting strong Amiga vibes from the trailer, reminds me a little of Team 17's Assassin crossed with visuals inspired by Chaos Engine.
Will be very interesting to try this out, love it when old unreleased games get released like this, it's like a hidden treasure! :)

Love when this kind of thing happens. Wonder what the chances are of Thrill Kill getting the finish job lol.

This is making me feel old - I remember reading previews for it. I'm definitely grabbing this!

I'm curious to know what is meant be 'Euro-style Metroidvania'; the Amiga didn't lend itself to the genre because the lack of inputs (just one fire button) meant you really couldn't wield & combine multiple abilities in action games*. I'd expect it to be based around a traditional level structure. However, it definitely has a Turrican feel - lots of jumping and exploring in all directions.

*probably the best and only true Metroidvania on the Amiga was Odyssey, which let you transform into animals, with each animal having its own unique skill

Hah, that's crazy.

Looks like what I wanted Duke Nukem 3 to look like back in the day.
