Super.

But the design of SSJ4 feels like a natural extension of the super saiyan transformations, unlike god and blue.

GT has better animation and drawing

Extreme examples, I know, but, still.

Goku as a kid again... Thanks but no thanks. Sure, in Super he continues acting as an idiot, but at least he is still an adult.

Anyways, Super miles away. It started weak, but around the first tournament it finally found its feet and then he continued getting better and better that it even gave us one of the best final episodes I have seen. Plus it introduced us female super saiyans.

GT, like OP said, had good ideas, but badly executed. Another problem was that Goku was the only relevant character, and sometimes Pan, but she was mostly the annoying brat. Super put Vegeta in a main role again and had other characters had a role instead of being background characters like Future Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo.

Hopefully, after the Broly movie, the next movie or tv show finally goes After Z, because, honestly, I'm still annoyed Trunks, Goten and Marron are still kids. Plus Pan and Bulla need to grow up and become super saiyans too.

Super, no contest.

Although I think that Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku is by far the best song of all Dragon Ball.

I certainly put it in my top songs and one of the few redeeming aspects of GT, but Limit Break x Survivor is, for me, even better than Dan Dan Kokoro.

Even though Super wound up having some good ending themes and the second opening, GT's music was better with Dan Dan, Don't You See and others.

Music is the only thing I'll give it over Super

Someone really needs to put together a thread showing how awesome GT was/is. Went back and watched all of it a year or two ago, after only seeing parts when it originally aired, and it wasn't the shit show people make it out to be.

I would need to rewatch GT and finish Super to say definitively which is worse... I'm up to the Arale episode on the Super dub, and I will say that I'm impressed by how consistently stupid and uninteresting the show is.

I rewatched GT recently and didn't like it a lot.
I get what its trying to do, its trying to be more evocative of original Dragon Ball but with more of the trappings of Z. Its more fun time adventures gathering the dragon balls for the first half, but as much as people complain that Super has a bunch of power creep GT almost has the opposite problem of a ton of episodes revolving around the cast forgetting that they are literal planet destroyers - or even sometimes things as simple as their ability to fly.

Also Pan is a terrible archetypical 80s/90s girl sidekick that is generally pretty bad in a fight and is mostly just around to sigh at the boys being boys.

Super is hype and for once there are chances for people not Goku to do things. I hated everyone in GT but Vegeta though.

Super by a mile. I really enjoyed seeing a good chunk of the cast in their daily lives and having roles to play every so often. The new villains, Beerus/Whis, and some cool new transformations are all pretty cool.

GT has poor execution but what it wanted to do imo would've worked and you can see sparkles here and there. It's very much Draginball Z in set up. Most of its ideas were all very good. Black star balls, traveling across the universe, Baby, super 17, eternal dragons etc.

On the other hand I just don't like super at all.

Super by a mile. I love the goofy and fun feeling in Super, compared to the seriousness of GT. Super reminds me of DragonBall which I love, which is ironic cause GT made Goku young again to be similar to DragonBall.

I enjoyed GT however it's not at the level of Super for me; and I admit super does a lot of dumb shit, but it's just extremely fun and has brought DB back.

Because saying "GT has better animation and drawing" seemed very wrong to me and I needed to prove to myself that I wasn't crazy?
Extreme examples are still examples, and they do still illustrate my opinion.

Hope I clarified for you.

Your point is proved best by posting the best of each not the best of one and some random gif of the other

I enjoyed GT for the classic Dragon Ball aspects, rather than endless power escalation Super went for. Zero interest in Super.

It's extra funny because it's the exact opposite in how Super actually made a concerted effort to make the non-Saiyan characters more relevant and equal on power level (though, of course, people complained about HOW they did it). And Super actually felt closer to original Dragon Ball than even DBZ ever did.

GT is shit. It got written out of canon for a reason. Toriyama had little to nothing to do with it. Good riddance.

toriyama having nothing to do with it is an overall positive as far as i'm concerned

his relationship with dragon ball is akin to george lucas and his connection with star wars

i guess you're entitled to your opinion tho

this is a reach. when all was said and done they pretty much shoved everyone other than 17 and frieza to the wayside. the way super treated piccolo and gohan in particular was remarkably bad

i will grant that super did a better job of showing off the supporting cast than GT, but by no means would i call it good

I thought GT was dumb even when I was a kid. I was 10yo, thirsty for more things Dragon Ball when Z ended, and even then I couldn't enjoy it. Never watched the whole thing.

Super is very enjoyable, and actually feels like Dragon Ball. Everything we love from the original series is there, so it's not really a contest.

Everyone got eliminations. Ultimate Gohan got to hang with Goku Blue.

And you can't have every single person in Universe 7 make it to the end and be the strongest. I thought they did a good job at making everyone seem balanced and their sacrifices in their losses meaningful.

Super was fun, for the most part.

Gt was a chore, even at its best. Ssj4 is the only redeeming quality.

I firmly believe that the baseball episode of Super is better than pretty much all of GT combined.

I like one Super arc and bits and pieces of another while I don't really like that much about GT so by default Super. The best thing about GT is Goku's outfit.

At least in Super other characters get to share the spotlight. GT stands for Goku Time as far as I'm concerned. The only decent thing GT has is the very last episode and the intro song, that's it.

And it's not like my opinion is an unpopular one. I'm willing to bet you most think GT is inferior to Super.
