I try and do my best to not outright ask for help with researching things for articles I write on ResetEra, but this time, I am running into a bit of an issue.

A website I'm working with wants me to try up a "Preview" article about a company that will be appearing at Gamescom next week. While E3 is pretty straightforward with what info you can grab (alongside with ResetEra posting any fun things that might come up), but it feels like I'm fishing a dry well. Not because we aren't getting anything next week, but I tend to notice that there isn't as much focus at Gamescom as there is with E3 or even the Tokyo Game Show.

As such, I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of anything neat from any particular company or where the best place might be to fish up some info if I could please. Even if it is something that would say "This game that appeared at E3 will be reappearing at Gamescom!" would be something since usually demos between E3 and Gamescom do tend to variety a touch or at least show some progression right? Even if that may not be the case, at least a nice confirmation would be more than enough.

Well THQ Nordic will be there after skipping E3 for the World Cup. Not sure how significant their presence will be but I imagine something will happen.

Probably a lot of new footage and details for already announced games along with probably a few new announcements. It isn't E3 but there's always some cool stuff.

A single company would be difficult. Why not a general overview of expectations, rumors, etc?

IIRC, the first DMV demo will be available and we'll get more details on Hitman 2. I'm really not sure about this, but we may get some new Sekiro details.

Today they released a list of nominees for best game of show and on the Best PS4 games they listed a game called "Project Mephisto". No one knows what it is. There's no publisher or developer listed next to it unlike other nominated titles.

Ace Combat 7 will be there. I'm hoping for a release date. That, and the 1180 is all I'm anticipating.

Aren't any of the console manufacturers having a conference this time?

Blizzard usually has a significant presence with some announcements, and they're attending again this year. Mike Morhaime already said Overwatch will have new content there.

I always look forward to Gamescom more than E3. I have no interest in announcements with zero gameplay and E3 has plenty of those. Games that get announced at E3 usually show gameplay at Gamescom.

Me.

Got appointments to watch Cyberpunk on Wednesday, Sekiro on Thursday.

That and play some Spiderman, but considering I'll have my copy in a couple of weeks I kind of torn between playing it because its right there or wait and play without time restrictions...

I'm at Gamescom this year, but the two things I want to see most (Cyberpunk and Sekiro) are probably both behind closed doors.

Well, more for (us) Germans, but you'll be able to play Anno 1800 and Tropico 6 (I think both for the first time) at Gamescom ;)

I'm just hoping they release footage of the Cyberpunk e3 demo. That would be enough for me.

Deep Silver will be present as well. Unclear what they're showing. I'm kinda hoping either Dead Island 2 or Dambuster's new game gets a reveal/re-reveal. At the very least, I know that Dambuster's PR guy is attending Gamescom, but that doesn't prove anything. Also, I notice CI Games are attending so hopefully they show some footage of this new Sniper: Ghost Warrior game. I'm very intrigued.
