Waiting for a D4 announcement for PC/PS4/XBO.

in all seriousness I'm excited - just a bit hesitant having already put 300+ hours into D3 on PC, no idea how the controls will feel. Inventory management with sticks sounds like a pain

The pricing might be wrong here. Diablo 3 Eternal collection already exist physically on PS4 for $40.

I'm tempted, but I remember hearing a lot of really awful word-of-mouth on the original release of the game. Has it been imnproved drastically since then? I've never played any Diablo game but I've been curious since the series is held in such high regard, especially Diablo 2.

Also Ganondorf looks awesome, holy fuck.
Gameplay is great. Story and lore are still trash tier.

One of my issues with the game is that you need to level up to 70 to unlock that rewarding gameplay. (lvl. 1-69 is unfortunately a slog.)

Two things on that:

- Since the early days of its release with the Auction House, insane difficulty etc, Diablo 3 has gone through massive changes, including changes to loot, end-game, balancing, etc., not including the added content from the various expansions and patches over the years (Crusader and Necromancer classes, new sets and weapons, Adventure Mode, etc.)

- Console Diablo 3 has always been its own separate thing from the PC version. In my opinion, being completely rubbish at point-and-click, I much preferred the console version's more arcadey take on the action, with a dodge roll ability. It means that the balancing in terms of enemies on screen and stuff like that are different between PC and consoles.

If this will be your first introduction to Diablo 3, especially for the console version, I envy you - you're gonna have hours and hours of looting fun... ;3 (I'm personally probably gonna quadruple dip on this... at launch...)

I assume they'll design the UI similar to the existing console ports and if so, those have worked incredibly well. I was blown away how easy it was to play on Xbox, expected it would be kinda painful.

Yes, it's better than it was at launch. It has plenty of issues but it's definitely better than "original release".

Never played any Diablo this seems like a good place to jump in.
Make sure grinding loot games are what you enjoy. Try some of the free ones just to be sure the genre is for you (it's definitely not for everyone) if you can. Dropping $60 and not enjoying your purchase because grinding repetitious content for hours isn't for you as it turns out is no bueno.

Also Ganondorf looks awesome, holy fuck.
Don't buy the game for cosmetics you're not going to wear very often. That's the bait offered to suckers. Buy it because it's a good action-focused loot game that plays well.

At this point I'd be more excited by PoE, but not having picked up the Necro expansion for PS4 yet I may just 'switch' platforms.

I'll see myself out.

I'm ashamed to say I have never played a Diablo game before. Sounds like the perfect type of game to play and grind away in handheld mode while watching bad movies or doing something else. Guess I'll be getting the Switch version.

The pricing might be wrong here. Diablo 3 Eternal collection already exist physically on PS4 for $40.

Until their online shop shows as $40, the MSRP for this game still is $60 (on consoles specifically). Which at the moment still is the case for both PS and XB.

As this is a new game for the Switch specifically, it makes sense that the MSRP is $60 at release.

Game stores can decide on prices of individual games. Which is why physical can be cheaper than the official digital shops. If the game underperforms the price at drop in retail to a level similar to other consoles is possible.

So what are the chances we can now get Lost Vikings on Switch? Blizz is on the Nintendo train now, make it happen guys! ;)

Oh and give me an unlock for Blackthorne when I beat it.
I think a Blizzard retro collection would probably sell great on Switch. SNES versions of RPM Racing, Rock N Roll Racing, Blackthorne and The Lost Vikings 1-2 for $20 or something. Just too bad their DC brawlers couldn't be included.

Here's what hasn't changed: the story and writing are still shit (though Act V from the first expansion is a step up); the graphics and artstyle are the same (like it or hate it).

Here's what has changed for the better:
- no more lag or other connection problems
- no more auction house/real-money auction house. All items and gold must be found in game.
- completely reworked end game, items and itemization. There is a mode called Adventure mode, which is basically the campaign without the story, you can go to any act whenever you want, and you get a variety of new challenges for better endgame.

The game looks the same, but for all intents and purposes it's completely different now. It's not hyperbole either. I put about 300 hours into vanilla D3, then stopped, seemingly never to return. Since the expansion came out, I've put an additional 800 hours into it.

I like your idea. They should include the inofficial Rock'n Roll Racing sequel made by fans, too.

My buddy I've been trying to convince him to buy a Switch for no particular reason (I dont even have one). He mostly exclusively plays Diablo 3 like I play Destiny. However he buys consoles like nothing, owning about 7 different themed Xbox Ones. So it wouldn't exactly be a stretch to buy a Switch instead of a 8th redundant Xbox next time.

Point was I think he said he would/might buy a Switch when it got Diablo. This thread reminded me LOL.

I hate to whine about this but what's up with all the Zelda exclusive content for these games? I mean more content is great but shoehorning Nintendo characters into everything is starting to really show what developers think of Switch gamers and the thing is they're probably right but to me it comes off as a little unimaginative. I mean I get it.. Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems and Nintendo gamers recognise Nintendo characters and that's the impression.

You want people to buy your game? Make it a great value package that will entice people to buy it. I don't think every game needs to have tacked on characters.

I mean I'm not ragging on this game in particular, I'd just like more imagination with new content especially if you're charging full price for a very old game now. I just feel like Nintendo gamers should be expecting more here I know I am.

Yeah have they ever offered these past offerings in any capacity? I can't think of any.

Real talk tho: the game isn't ugly even in 2018, and those who have never played D3 are in for a good time so long as they like looter/farming games. It's very easy to spend hundreds of hours playing and only really becomes dry when you get deep into the late-game experience (when you reach the point where doing your own custom build is no longer viable and you have to use meta gear to continue to climb).

You'll get your money's worth long before you reach that stage. It's far easier to pick up and play than something like Path of Exile. I wouldn't jump in at $60 anymore (already got my 1,400 hours or so out of it, lifetime), but if you like this genre of games and don't mind some of mind-numbing grinding you'll get more than your $60 investment out of it.
Would it make sense to try and play a campaign with a friend online where we would only get maybe an hour or two together per week (different timezones)? Seems silly

Please let this be true. When I play 4 player Overcooked, Crawl or Nine Parchment it's such a blast. But Diablo would be the pinnacle of awesome couch co-op. I hope they support single joy-con even if it's going to lack some buttons.

absolutely, yes.

you'll have several character slots. You can make a character to play and level him/her exclusively with your friend, and another character (say a different class) to level by yourself or with other friends.

The Skyrimming of this game is becoming quite humerous.

After triple dipping though on PC, Xone, and PS4, and probably putting hundreds of hours into this across all platforms, I will have to pass on the Switch version

Can we please get Diablo 4? I'm sooooo done with 3.

Blizzard is the king of cosmetics. This exclusive content is completely unsurprising given their history.

Well, it's a Zelda themed armor. I think it's just a fun addition, nothing more. I don't think there are any actual Nintendo characters in the game.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll check the game out when it comes out.

You must think I was born yesterday :P I'm not buying the game solely because of a character skin, I want it because it's a game I had interest in before. I know it's a grind fest, I wouldn't express interest in buying it if I didn't like those sorts of games! I just think the skin looks really cool.

Lots of people in this thread appear to have been born yesterday, talking more about mediocre cosmetics than the actual game and hand-waving a $60 price tag which honestly is pretty lul in 2018. I don't have time to differentiate between who's who.

But cool, as long as you know what you're getting into you'll have a good time. Of that there is little doubt.

Only downside, I guess, is you'd be playing the same campaign in parallel
People do that all the time in looters. After all, most are going to play at least 3 different classes along the way. And considering he's only going to be playing 2 hours/week with Friend X, he will have been able to level up 2 or 3 classes to MAX level and gotten into end-game content before finishing the main campaign the first time with his buddy.

To say nothing of power leveling options.

I agree that's it's nice to have the addition and in fairness it hasn't properly been announced yet so let's see if there's more content.

I'm not saying I'd prefer it without the armour but I guess it's like.."that all you got?"

We shall see

Yeah! So it's :
- 60$
- on an already hacked hardware
- a hardware so easy to hack that all the people i know have done it
- a game with that has been hacked for years

Since most/a lot of the Switch owners are going to end being ban from online, since you can't allow in 2018 on a new hardware what happened with the ps3 version anymore, will it be crossgen with XBOX and PS4 to save the game? Otherwise it's just dead!

Almost nobody has hacked their Switch. Your friends aren't representative of the community at large.
