Whelp, looks like the SEC is finally getting off their ass. This isn't good for Elon even if he just gets the basic slap on the wrist.

All those people here who stanned for Musk look REALLY stupid right now, moreso than after the "pedophile" fiasco.

Turns out being a top executive for a multi-billion dollar company beholden to shareholders comes with certain responsibilities that cannot so easily be skirted around.

Hoping Tesla makes it through well. This is one company that does need to succeed as it is one of the few taking bold steps to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

if I was a shareholder for any major company I would demand a strict 'no twitter' policy for any high level executive

China, along with a bunch of countries not named "The United States of America", are driving electric vehicle adoption way more than Tesla ever has or will.

EVs are inevitable and all car companies know it. Tesla isn't really necessary

If the stipulation is that public statements made by company executives must be true, then all Tesla/Musk has to do is prove he had the funding lined up at the time of the tweet.

This seems like such a fucking stupid unforced error....

Was it REALLY worth all this to wash away the moment of bad press he was getting for insulting that guy from the cave rescue? Jesus Christ.

Elon is going to update his Twitter bio to include, "All tweets are my personal opinion and not the views of my employer."

I'm pretty sure that's already the case. That's why the only execs who do tweet like morons are the ones at the very top of their companies - the ones that are so powerful that no one else in the company can tell them to shut the fuck up.

This can't be true, I was assured Musk did everything right and had nothing to worry about!

If Tesla dies in the next ten years it will almost certainly be because Elon Musk couldn't shut the fuck up.

Musk needs to go. His idiotic behavior on twitter is up there with Trump, and his treatment of Tesla employees is deplorable. He think's he's Iron Man but he's a fraud.

If only he had announced the share price was $420.69, then everyone would have known he was on something and not taken him at all seriously. I guess at this point it's just a question of how much they get fined for it

Though I suppose it could be worse, at least he hasn't called any SEC officials pedos yet
