Ironic, because what we do know is why your first post in this thread mentions Microsoft not being the good guys. Not sure why you're calling him out. Can you show me your posts where you were outraged at Sony paying to keep Destiny content off of Xbox all through the games life, even renewing it at one point? This doesn't even come within a decimal fraction close.

I wonder if this is only for the digital version or if you're getting a digital code with your pre-order physical copy.

Answer me this then: you're putting a dynamic theme as pre-order bonus on PS4, now you need to do the equivalent on Xbox One (keep in mind Xbox doesn't have any dynamic theme options), how do you deal with this situation?
Pretty good bonus for xbox if you've never played metro 2033 but metro 2033 has been on sale for so cheap so many times, I'd assume that anyone who had a passing interest in the game would have grabbed it by now. In fact, I think it was like $5 in the last xbox sale. Not sure how great of a bonus this is. Think I'd rather have the theme, something that xbox players will never get.

I reckon we could see Metro Redux as a PS+ game soon. I think they're on PS Now aren't they? Not that that dictates PS+ releases.
Great pro-consumer move by MS! I already have it, but getting something for free is always nice.
Decent deal for both sides really. 2033 is cheap all the time and everybody who cares own the game. I won't benefit from it since I own the game and played it multiple times.

In all honesty I was going to get this for Xbox One X anyways but this literally shows why there is no reason for me to even consider the PS4 version. I don't use themes (I don't stare at my consoles' dashboards) and a game certainly sounds like a better preorder incentive than a theme I would never use.
I don't think everybody came to a consensus. The reasons I preorder games are for preloading (It is ready to go as soon as possible) and bonuses that interest me.
To be fair some themes are pretty awesome. I have the free indivisible theme for mine but always wanted the persona 5 themes for the music alone. But I'm never spending too long on the dashboard so the are nice to exist but nothing super important.
Nice. I have been waiting for this game, will see the reviews before jumping in though. already own the previous games on Xbox One but this is a good incentive for those who haven't played them.

Microsoft isn't withholding content from a new game from other players. They are in all likelihood subsidizing the cost of the additional title as part of their marketing deal of the game. This isn't a case where Microsoft has paid for content from Metro Exodus to be withheld from PS4 or PC players. Keep that outrage coming though.

There's also a chance that MS didn't even pay for this and it done by the developer to beef up the package. If MS did offer pre-order incentives, I doubt PS would have got anything.
That's a fucking gyp and a half there. If MS are behind this (And I can't see why they wouldn't be tbh) then that's one of the pettier marketing ploys we've seen all gen :P

Damn, you're really going in and clamoring for this 4 year old re-release version of an 8 year old game and when it's not being given away with GwG for (three years ago) it hits $5 when it's on sale. It's not some unobtainable gem you're making it out to be.
Personally, if Xbox had themes I'd rather get that since I already own this game on 360 and bought it day one on Xbox One, then it was offered via GwG and I own it on PC as well where it used to go for like $2 IIRC.
With the theme, at least you're getting something new and exclusive and it's similarin price to this game sale price so it's not like its some ridiculous difference here.
I doubt Deep Silver and 4A Games would just throw in 2033 Redux for ONLY Xbox if Microsoft didn't have a marketing deal for the game. I mean the game is constantly on sale but it's money out of their bottom line if they're passing out codes that weren't picked up by someone else.
It makes sense for them to give out the game considering the XB1 family doesn't have customization to the degree of PS4. Also, both pre-order incentives are both basic, I doubt Deep Silver and 4A Games are worried about an old game sales. Anyway, I don't know but it seems that if MS has been handed an exclusive gift, the gift isn't worth much.
Same thing happened with Tekken 7, the Xbox One version (digital) was rewarded with a BC version of T6 for free and the PS4 version was rewarded with exclusive stuff like the jukebox.

Fallout 4 on XB had Fallout 3 BC as a bonus also, while PS4 had... nothing in that instance.
I would have bought it if it came with a free game. I literally only bought the Walking Dead final season pre-order on the PS Store because it came with the collection of the previous seasons, and I've already played those :/
It's kind of weird, but as people have said, these games have been next to nothing on both consoles in the past, I feel like if you haven't played 2033 (and Last Light as well), you should play them well ahead of when Exodus comes out. Both are great games, and the Redux versions are really well done.
I'm curious about the reasons behind the difference. Wasn't there a similar scenario with Fallout 4, where on X1 you got Fallout 3 for free, but you didn't on PS4 (for obvious no-BC support reasons)? This is a little different, but it's interesting that we've seen similar differences before.
if a person is preordering one metro game, why would they be unwilling to play another?
a more frequent case would be "if you're preordering this you've probably already got Metro 2033 redux and would be much better off with the theme"
