Takahashi can't do shit if Miyamoto cockblocks him.

Miyamoto: [eyes open wide] I am really pleased to hear Twitter's opinion, because since the first episode on Gameboy many games have been made but the series has evolved very little. I thought people had grown weary of it.

I'd like to say: Thank you very much and try to wait by playing the N64 game on Virtual Console.

I am also very curious and I'd like to ask those people: Why Wave Race? What do you want that we haven't done before?

People saying that cross-overs would help wave race sell, do realise that the original sold very well yes? More then 1,5 million copies on the N64.

Blue Storm flopping probably had more to do with the game itself rather then WR becoming unpopular.

Yup.

I don't even think a Switch Wave Race would require a big budget and team. I think it could certainly be a successful, especially if they nail it like they did with the first game.

Blue Storm was the better game.

I imagine it mostly has to do with the Gamecube flopping, and being sandwiched in a heavy hitting exclusive lineup that hit the GC in the first few months. I mean why buy Wave Race when you had Luigi's Mansion and Rogue Leader launching alongside it, with Smash and Pikmin arriving 2 weeks later.

MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ROUND!

I hate to admit saying I was let down by Blue Storm. I couldn't point ourt exactly what was it about the sequel that felt dissapointing. What it its use of water physics (or lack thereof of its creative use)? Was it because the shortcuts weren't that interesting? The track design? Perhaps it was because of NST management? Many things in me pointed to a shallow sequel, and felt it really needed a big(ger) gimmick to pull its weight (the equivalent to 1080 Avalanche's...well, avalanche scenarios).

People would buy Wave Race Switch for graphics alone.

But I bet Nintendo will give it a super low budget lol.

I'm not even sure it would matter. WR64 was a super small team that made it in like 9 months? Even that quoted Rare GIF is mostly water. I think it could still look gorgeous even with a small budget.

I think it was all of the above. But I really do wonder if they used the same water physics. Because WR64 just felt like it had much better physics. Like it was a physics based game. Whereas BS was a more traditional Nintendo racer than just happened to exist on water. Didn't feel like it was built around water physics. Could be wrong, of course.

Man, a new Wave Race would put me over the moon. I'd be glued to it 24/7 in handheld mode. Hope it ends up happening.

LOL this reaction made me laugh.

It's from King of Kong. This guy went around the arcade Steve Weibe was trying to set a record at telling random people "there's a potential Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if anybody's interested".

No prob! Glad it did its job!

Ah! I haven't seen that movie in a long time.. I thought there was some kind of event going on.. :p

Wave Race 64 was always better than Fzero GX to me, more technique and control over the weight of your vehicle + wave physics

Water physics always impresses me in games. From wave race to DOA to that Kinect one and now sea of thieves. Sea of thieves is definitely the new benchmark to beat though

Yeah...

Now one could argue that Takahashi would comply out of sheer respect for Miyamoto if he really asked him to, but people really villify Miyamoto if they think he cares that much to take their racing games away lol.

Lol Miyamoto is worried about making movies and theme parks for Nintendo. He has such little say in their games now. Other than him wanting Star Fox and Pikmin, he's not telling Takahashi what he can and can't do. If Takahashi loves Wave Race he's in a position to gather people to make the game.

I still have a feeling that Nintendo online is going to have a connected switch sports and this is where the wave race remark comes from. I hope its also its own game but I don't mind as long as we have some water events. I loved go vacation but the gameplay was not quite tight enough for me.

I'm expecting 1-2 surprises at Gamescom or during the September Direct, hopefully one of those is Wave Race (or Ridge Racer)
