I don't understand the "content = price" logic.

Do you also pay to see movies based on their runtime?

I have never ever seen a movie that offered DLC so I can see where OP comes from without being a Smash fan (it never clicked for me but I will give it another shot since the fan service is huge).

About recycled content:
oyEFEyX.png

This looks heavily reworked to me.

The graphical leap is also obvious, almost like a generation leap. Probably because this stage seems to have been actually recycled in for U and now Ultimate is putting in proper work.

They didn't simply plop down the returning stages in this game, aside from maybe 64 ones. It's more comparable to classic tracks in MK8.
Every stage has been reworked, even the Smash 4 stages:

So basically just the 64 ones are the same? I guess "recycled content" is not all that applicable to Ultimate when it comes to stages.

Looking at the image I posted above, the previous game was more into recycling returning stages than this one.
N64 assets have actually been redone from scratch, they're all in HD but with a 64 bit look to them.

Oh wow I would've thought the Smash 4 stages would have been largely the same.

So what exactly was recycled without getting major changes? Most characters have also been redone. So I'm not sure where all the complaints of recycling are coming from.

Can someone point out what has been 100% reused from previous games? Maybe some items I guess?

Have y'all seen how much game soundtracks go for? Especially in Japan, CD prices are ridiculous, and this is like buying a whole shelf of them. My Switch will essentially be the last MP3 player I'll ever need!

But that said, I'm almost more excited to see where the series goes after this. They'll have to start fresh, go back to the drawing board and change up some of the core mechanics to make it feel like a whole new game, rework every character from the ground up, scale back on content to focus on making each part as fleshed out as possible, and hopefully do another Melee type soundtrack that may be smaller but has a very consistent and distinct style. I want the Street Fighter III of Smash.

I am very excited for smash but I wish people would stop saying things are good 4 months before they come out

There is a chance it's not good value! You don't know yet! More stages does not mean a better game!

Items are a possibility but the Assist Trophy and Pokeball models seem new. I'm not even confident in saying items are reused.

I'm surprised that people really became euphoric for the music offering. Of course is nice, but be one of the "amazing aspects" is lame. Imagine a conversation:
Hi! What arebu listening?
Oh! Listening the soundtrack of that X stage in Metroid xxxx.

Seems me cool a lot of options, but this doesnt looks the differencial to increase the value.
And Nintendo puts 60 dolars on DKTF. Do u think this worth? ô.õ

He's not wrong at all. Smash has a ton of recycled stuff from previous version's. There is nothing wrong with that. It's just how it is.
Except he is, look at the very next post above yours. It's not just different modes, characters and stages have all been heavily reworked on animation, assets, lightning, etc. Calling it "Recycled content" just because it brings stages and characters back is a disservice to what this game Is doing.

Ok...the countless impressions from both smash players and gaming websites say that the game is good.

Smash would be a good opportunity for Nintendo to bite the bullet and put it on a 32gb cart.

It something they'll have to do sooner or later.

Even if they can slim it down to 16, they should just go in.

The high volume of sales they'll be getting would probably more than make up for any increased manufacturing costs, and may even bring down 32GB card costs for future games too.

Maybe this is what they were referring to when it was reported that 64GB cards and cheaper 32GB cards would have to wait until 2019.

I mean, he's not entirely wrong. Yeah, Sakurai redid the older stages & some of the Melee veterans who got cut, but the Brawl veterans who were cut likely had a good number of their animations reused from Brawl. Though to be fair, Sakurai likely touched up a decent chunk of them, but still.

Its not though. Yes some of it has been reworked but there's no guarantee that all of it has and it doesn't do a disservice to the game. I never said recycled content is bad but it is absolutely the reason the game has as much content as it does. You can disagree but I'm not wrong.

His point was that most of the content is recycled. Which is not true, sure, as you said, some of the content is borrowed from Brawl/Smash 4. But as stages and many characters have shown, a big, probably dominant part of the content has been heavily redesigned.

Originally it was the other way around but Smash exceeded my expectation and more to come in the future. Wave dashing and L canceling is kinda back; hopefully Sakurai listen to the pros advices and retool it completely. Speaking of Let's Go, it still can be saved if they add in a mode for casual go players and wild battle mode for core players.

They're really not back, at all.
But if people are still posting that meme image then misinformation is a-ok I guess.

That is why I said Kinda because I'm not too sure lol
My friend tried to argue that they should sell this game at a discount because it re-uses a lot.

I just looked at him in the eyes and nodded in disbelief. I don't know why I entertain his video game opinions.
Same!!!!!!, Some of them say it's Smash and the same, Some of them say its copy and paste SMH!!!! I told them just pretend Smash 4 never existed and they will see the bigger picture ^_^
