I hate sleeping in silence, I find it really offputting, especially as I just keep focusing on my heartbeat which makes me anxious.

I tend to always sleep with the radio on as I find it weirdly comforting. I've lived near heavy traffic most of my life which probably helps.

I have friends though who have stayed in my house and couldn't even get to sleep with the sound of my computer CPU fan. Interesting how it affects people differently.

Oh yeah, silence is just uncomfortable for me, I put the radio on low most times.

I knew a friend who actually slept with his tv on all night, that was a bit much imo.

I can't stand silence in general because of my tinnitus. Gotta have a fan or some other machine humming along, at minimum, but some kind of talking (like a stream or a television show) is preferable.

I got a pair of these:

Not only do I look as cool as this guy, I can listen to podcasts and music as I'm falling asleep, without pissing off my wife.

I can't fall asleep typically without the TV on. If I don't have some kind of background noise at least, I usually wake up with terrible nightmares and night sweats.

I used to fall asleep with a fan on so I was used to white noise for years. But when I got married my wife wasn't a "fan" of it since it made the room too cold. The fan broke and I never replaced it. It was uncomfortable at first but I got used to it.

I can sleep much better if the A/C is on and I can hear it. Just some white noise to help me get to sleep.

However, my neighbourhood can be noisy when I'm asleep, so I've taken to sleeping with earplugs. Been getting the best sleep of my life.

I often sleep with the TV on. I'll toss and turn anyways, so I watch TV until I pass out. Usually Friends or another sitcom like it.

I've been using a playlist of rain sounds on Spotify and I usually leave the bathroom fan running

I used to do that until I saw that old X files episode where late night TV infomercials programmed people to commit murder. Creeped me out. I usually watch TV or Netflix and use sleep timer to turn it off.

I dim my tv and run Hulu on very low volume just so I can barley make out what they are saying, forcing my brain to try and focus on understanding what's being said when I'm laying down with my eyes closed, and not on random thoughts and anxiety. Been doing that for years

I have to have a fan on at night. I only started it because my mother in law listens to the TV so loud I had to drown her out. Now I can't stop.

I work midnight shifts and have to convince myself to sleep while the sun is up, so my Sleep Sounds App is my ally. I customize the sounds before I go to bed- sometimes I like a rainy forest scene, sometimes I like a breezy autumn woods, sometimes I prefer a storm in the distance with the sound of crickets. I sleep so much better with the app on.

Yeah I can't sleep in silence, too much shit will start running through my head, it's just depressing sometimes so I've always worn a pair of earbuds while sleeping, either listening to music, movies or tv shows.

I sleep with a fan on for both the air movement and white noise. My sleep is shit, though, so maybe I should try something like a radio station playing as well.

I used to be able to, but then I got really into falling asleep with ASMR, which then slowly transformed into falling asleep with just random BS. I'm bout to put on a podcast and doze off, night everyone

My C-PAP makes an obnoxious racket so I need a fan to block out its sounds.

I've got one of those white noise machines, helps mask the little neighborhood sounds during the night. I've been using it for years, so it seems too quiet without it. If not that, at least something... ocean surf works just as well when I'm vacation.

I usually put on reruns of some show I've seen a million times. I like to fall asleep to TV/movies often. It has to be something I've seen already, and can't be too awesome or too terrible. Or YT videos of a subject matter that is mildly interesting but not too much that I want to stay up to watch.

I need to experiment with some of the specific YT white noise / fall asleep vids.

In my personal quarters, I usually keep a fan on. I prefer noise over silence, and it's typically hot where I live, anyway. However, I can sleep perfectly fine in silence when I have to, be it in a hotel or at someone else's house. I just sleep with a fan on whenever I can. If not, no biggie.
