If I was world leader I'd be like "hey, any movies you can recommend from your country? How's life, pal, anything you want to talk about chum? Sorry to disturb, just, y'know...trying to better relations..."
Jesus... imagine having this guy call you all of the time and you basically have to take his call. And then he doesn't want to discuss anything in particular. What a nightmare.

The "idiot" part isn't that he doesn't know what time zones are or how they work in broad strokes: the article doesn't actually claim that and isn't nearly as "irresponsible" as you think.
What the article does claim is that he lacks the basic decency to do a little basic math and not just assume every world leader is at his beck and call. He's an idiot for not exhibiting the most basic levels of tact or awareness towards his peers and their time. Which is hardly surprising for someone so supremely self-centered and intellectually uncurious as Trump.

I get that it can be seen as a friendly gesture, but it's unprofessional and shows a lack of respect for the other person's time.
It's the national diplomacy equivalent of someone walking up to your desk at work to talk about random shit when you're really busy and trying to get something done.

My father in law thinks he's smart and is glad a non politician is there to shake things up. "Give him his time'.
I told him i think he's not smart at all, in fact i think he knows next to nothing, isn't curious about anything and is really really fucking dumb. Please remove him from that position (and most of the people he chose) asap.
And i see evidence of my theory every day. No evidence of his theory. I think he is unable to live independently.
