Is iCloud Photo Library turned on on your phone?

Yes.

Yet I only see the amount of pictures stored locally on my iPhone, that's it.

Have you tried signing out of your iCloud on the phone? Sometimes signing out rather just turning the setting off then back on fixes the issue.

Just tried both of those things. Signed out of iCloud completely, even restarted my iPhone. Signed back in, still only the locally stored photos.

When I check photos on my iPhone it seems like it's uploading the pics that are stored locally now (that are also in iCloud though). I hope it won't delete the ones stored in iCloud.

It won't, it'll try to sort out and make an equilibrium between them

I really would like to get the X Plus when it comes out, but might end up getting the bigger non OLED screen phone. Mainly because im worried the X Plus will be really expensive here in Canada. Have there been any price leaks or rumors ?

How heavy will it be? About the same as an 8+? The X is already pretty weighty

I'm also thinking about the LCD model. Although I love the dual lens camera on the X I don't use it that much aside from the usual snaps - I have a camera for more serious photo taking. So I think I'd be ok with a larger screen and lower cost.

Just need to think about timing of selling my X - especially if the XS will be cheaper

Is this a new phone? Maybe try backing it up to a computer then restoring the firmware and set it up as a new device. If your photos sync then it's an issue with your backup.

Is there any clue when the next phones will be announced?
Usually in September.

I know but I mean they got the basic design etc. I mean we know its gonna look like this

Apple has to ship in scale unheard of in almost any consumer product. And everyone wants to know about it. So they have both (a) a lot of external sources that could leak and (b) the product that is in most demand for a leak at any given time.

They try to crack down on internal leaks but short of buying out Foxconn and every other manufacturer they need, it's simply inevitable. It's generally remarkable when something *doesn't* leak, but that's typically because it's a new component or software feature, which Apple can keep safely indoors until the last minute.

even if they owned every single part of the chain, there are people trying to bribe folks with access to give them specs or even partial specs so that they can have cases / accy made and ready on time

Only thing that could make me upgrade from my X is the fact that I've been feeling a bit frustrated at my 64GB choice. Even then, I might just try to find an optimal way to swap to another same X but 256GB.

Do you have a lot of local files like music and videos or are app sizes so big those days? asking cause im upgrading in the fall and im unsure what i need. Im still at an 16gb iPhone 6 which is too small obviously.

This is what it looks like after already enabling the option to offload unused apps. I'm sure I could still do a lot better app-wise since I probably hoard more apps than I should, especially old stuff. Also it would help a lot if that "other" would just clean out but alas. A few days ago I couldn't download a video from a GoPro due to lack of storage.

I think I will install iOS 12 from scratch when it comes out, taking advantage of iCloud messages.

I'm curious what the new iPhones will be like. I feel like I can upgrade to iPhone X when on sale and be okay with that.

Damn, $5 a month for on X on Sprint. But it's on Sprint. $65 for sprint and x or like $90 for note 9 and T-Mobile. Already signed eip agreement for note 9 with TMobile so would have to eat a restock fee.

I'm honestly tempted by the Sprint deal but I have a great legacy $40 plan with TMobile.

Sprint blows, not worth it. They're gonna cease to exist soon anyway.

i have an old iphone 4 i want to give to someone so they can use it to get internet radio over wifi anyone got any ideas if it'll still be able to download apps on it for that? i don't currently have a functioning charger for it so i have no idea what version it's on but i figure since it's apple and it's more than 5 years old it'll more than likely be more use as a paperweight

iPhone 4 caps out at iOS 7, which some apps still have builds for but it likely won't be a lot...

I'd love it if they raised the minimum storage for the new X's.

64gb just feels a hair too small for me, and 256gb is way more than I'd ever need and $150 extra for it is a bit much.

Deciding between Note 9 and next Iphone X, get rid of the ugly ass notch Apple.
You may not like it, but it's a look in demand. Either way, that will not happen. It will be Samsung to either conform to the notch or figure out a way to go full bezel-less on the top, be it a sliding camera or a camera under the display. It's all about seeing the display stretch to all the edges around a phone for that maximized real estate feel. A regular bezel on the top looks old hat by now, although I must say, and many manufacturers don't realize this, but so does on the bottom. They copy the notch but then leave a bottom bezel which means they aren't putting the notch on just for good reasons, but also to simply make it look like an iPhone X and give the phone that silhouette that is becoming the trademark of how a modern smartphone looks like.

I'm thinking about what size storage phone to get and can't decide. My primary usage is taking photos and videos of my kids. We take a lot and we usually save it all on hard drives.

But I can't decide on what quality I should take the photos - a little research has told me what size files will be.

Here is the size of videos in different resolution

1 minute 1080p at 30fps will be 60MB 1 minute 1080p at 60fps will be 90MB 1 minute 4K at 30fps will be 170MB 1 minute 4K at 60fps will be 400MB (Approximately) More resolution can be seen in Settings -> Camera -> Record Video

One high quality photo from my phone is a little more than 20MB.

As im primarily shooting to watch in the future, I'd want to shoot in the highest quality possible, but 4K60 are such huge files. It's such a big dilemma.

I was in the same boat, but decided on the note 9. The phone is just fantastic. So easy to use and the screen is amazing.

After having an iPhone 4 then a 6, I was done with apple. Its just such a hassle doing basic things like transferring video and audio files between the PC and iPhone that it was annoying. Plus the battery was almost dead and it was sluggish so I said fuck it, no more of this shit.

My cousin gets every single iteration of iPhone that gets released so I have had hands on time with the X. I definitely made the right decision to go with the Note 9.

I'm undecided between the two bigger versions, and it will probably just come down to the price difference and software features. If the Larger OLED has things like split-screen, and other ipad features it might push me over the edge.

Lately I've been bombarded with daily news from forbes and others, appearing on google now, with doom articles that are always about "the problem with", "apple's big mistake", "leak confirms disaster" regardig these phones, and when you open said articles they don't say anything but just state the details of the models (which sound great to me), so I wonder when the mainstream media decided that anti-apple is the new clickbait - probably a long time ago when I wasn't paying attention or using certain news aggregators.

I already made this decision and went note 9

Gonna give Apple a chance at their show, but yea I am leaning Note 9.

Will look out though for an X without the garbage Notch

LOL, why would Samsung add a notch??

This year is an S cycle so the notch won't change in any form most likely (leaks confirm it), although I expect they at least shrink the notch in size next year.

I don't mind having a notch but the current size is huge.

I'd honestly rather have them add more sensors and cameras to the notch than shrink it. And I'd be down for the back of the camera basically being 100% cameras, lol.

But why? What would necessitate the need of more sensors and cameras in the front? The notch is supposedly a stop-gap step before they figure out a way to hide the sensors behind the glass completely, with that in mind adding more of them would be counter-productive I think.
