I play it with a controller either way. It was easily doable on PS4.
I really dislike how they misled people with that Doom 2 presentation though. The way they played during the controller part had very little to do with the controller and more with the player. They were purposely standing still and shooting enemies and not moving around all that much. I played Doom on PS4 a lot closer to their kb/m footage than the controller. Aiming is faster on a mouse but when you choose not to move that's on the player.
They do play up the *cinematic* controller style presentation, I agree, but there's a hard limit to how fast a controller can aim even at the highest setting. I own Doom and the two latest Wolfensteins on consoles, as well, (mostly to show support for games I like) and it never reached the same kind of frenetic style to me.
Anyway, I hope next gen controllers make gyro aiming a standard. Such a great feature for the steam controller.
