Cleopatra's cover of "Get It Right Back" is so much better than it has any right to be, and absolutely shits on the original recording.

That's the only one I can think of though.

What pissed me off was the second rendition of a Disney song in the movie. In Moana, the beautiful "How Far I'll Go" was a song to remember. Then the credits played and it was some shitty pop version.

I strongly prefer the in-movie versions, but I usually still appreciate the alternative pop versions.

Demi Lovato's Let It Go was exceptionally awful though.

I'd argue that Voctave does Disney covers BETTER than Disney does themselves. Though it's possibly a little unfair as many of the singers work at Disney World.

Actually misunderstood what the thread was asking for, so I will change my answer to the one already given in the thread.

Namely, the radio version of "A Whole New World".

I genuinely enjoy the two Peabo Bryson versions of A Whole New World and Beauty and the Beast:

Both are a tad overzealous/over-produced compared to their more quaint film counterparts, but I love some good 90s cheese.

Go the distance - michael bolton

I actually love christinas reflection but its so different from the film version that it may as well be its own thing

Otherwise most are inferior.

Shout out to when you believe even though its dreamworks. Mariah and whitney made one hell of a track

Ummmm the Christina Aguilera version of Reflection is a masterpiece. And Celine Dion's work on Beauty and the Beast? Impeccable.

Peabo Bryson and Regina Bell's Awhole new World, Micheal Bolton Go the Distance and Your Welcome by Jordon Fischer were really good.

I always loathed these things as a kid. They'd come on during the movie credits, and my kid brain immediately rejected them for being different to the ones from the movie. Who did these anonymous singers think they were?

The 90s ones were pretty good for the most part imo. The recent ones have been shit.

Not better than the original but better than the movie its attached to, so I guess that follows the rules.
I likes it.

Delete that OP, the disrespect to Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion's Beauty and the Beast is unnecessary.

For real, I actually like a chunk of them. Circle of Life and I Just Can't Wait to be King by Elton John are fantastic complements to the movie versions, as well as others mentioned here.

Michael Bolton's Go the Distance feels like the bookend to the movie version.

I have a couple of fantastic albums of cover versions, some downright weird. While it's not exactly a movie, the one that absolutely stands out is Tim Curry's ridiculously camp take on The Ballad Of Davy Crockett.

One from a similar album that I've also been very fond of is Louis Armstrong's take on Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.

Agreed. I don't like the pop version of Disney songs for the most part. It is kinda strange how worse off they are, and in a way, why bother when the film version is so good anyway? I'll stick to the movie versions.
