I thought the other examples were found even before this thread and apology video, and people already called him phony with that tweet from 2014 or something. Deleting the video though that's funny.

Your desperation to save face after prematurely and incorrectly calling me out on this topic, only equals your desperation for the last word. So I think that I'll just let you take it...
;)

Someone is tragically desperate to save face indeed. Like, holy freaking shit.

I know I should stop wasting time on this nonsense and put you on ignore but this is far too surreal and entertaining. Please go on, what did I prematurely and incorrectly call you on?

The only person who can decide if the review is plagiarised is the owner of the site who hosts the review. Jason or anyone else deciding it's plagiarised is irrelevant.

The only person who can decide if this post is plagiarised is FrostyLemon. pswii60 or anyone else deciding it's plagiarised is irrelevant.

Jeeesus, I wake up to see that shit has gotten even worse. This fucking thing of even copying the inaccuracy of the original review, this ride won't stop.

Social Media marketing manager for a company like Walgreens?

His internet celebrity days are over, but he can still have a career. It just needs to be relevant to his experience, but not a position that involves writing or expressing his own opinions.
I'm gonna disagree with this. People are very forgiving. If he legit just admits he fucked up and wants to start fresh, people would give him a chance I guarantee it.
I'm talking as a solo youtuber though. His mainstream media days are over. There's also the fact he's likely burned a bridge with Nintendo so even if he starts on his own again, no more free review copies. He's gotta pay out of his own pocket for those games.
There are roadblocks but I don't think it's impossible

I'm waiting for someone to find out that he plagiarized his apology video.

He for sure followed a certain template. It wasn't an apology video though, it was a response. People seem to be confused on that for some reason.

Sorry but you don't get to decide what other people think is OK.
No one wants to see him hung, stop bringing up disingenuous hyperbolic strawmen into this conversation.
If you want to move on, go right ahead – no one cares. The rest of us find it reasonable to further call him out on his actions. Deal with it.

You do that, absolutely. You keep calling him out in the name of justice if it makes you feel better, I'm not telling people how they should feel.

I do think it's a bit like enjoying the public execution (figuratively! I thought I'd make it clear in case someone thought I'm talking literally) of someone whose crimes didn't even really affect you.
Boomstick (sorry, btw, phone tends to autocorrect that to broomstick) I could understand. Ign I could understand.
If you bought the game based solely on his review and his review said the complete opposite of what the general consensus is, I could still understand being mad at him.
As it is, I'll simply aknowledge he stole someone else's work and time and justice was served by the hands of those directly affected. He's a dead horse and beating him further won't make me feel more fulfilled, it would just waste more if my time.
But obviously you do you, I'm not asking or expecting you to care about what I chose to do.

Sounds like some dude who got through college rearranging paragraphs to avoid automatic plagarism checkers from finding him out.

You know what's the worst part of this?

After all this time, this guy somehow managed to get away with all his plagiarised (stolen) reviews and still getting paid a full salary by the expense of other people's work, and still being hypocrite enough to post updates on Twitter about "his reviews" while all he was really doing was barely changing words, adding a few extra phrases and call it a day. This guy can seriously go eat shit.

The only thing I'm disappointed about, is that it took so long to find the truth about this piece of shit. I thank Boomstick for being the first to expose him, otherwise Filip would still be sitting all comfortable in his office right now, pretending nothing was happening and continue copying even more scripts without anyone noticing.

It says a lot about the state of video games journalism that this was the best IGN could do for an editorial position. A YouTuber who bought his views, can barely articulate himself enough to write competent video game reviews.

Just bringing up excution as a figurative comparison is stupid. He made his bed, crapped in it with that ridiculous video and now has to lie in it. If he made an honest and sincere apology in that video and not try to call out others, I can assure this would not have continued.

I have little to no sympathy with regards to kicking him while he's down. The attacks against his family, however, are simple inexcusable and are sad beyond meaning.

Well I went from feeling sorry for this guy to fuck him in record time. Just apologize and take it like an adult, the internet won't forgive today or tomorrow, but one day maybe, he just made it worse and yeh he's done.

Sean eventually made it right. I am not sure what Filip will do here.

If he's smart he should:

1) post some real apologies on Twitter.

2) instantly delete all the reviews he copied cause i suspect there are others we don't know yet (it's already too late, he should have done this immediately)

3) stay quiet for a while (his channel will suffer inevitably at this point, he screwed it soo badly)

4) return like 6 months / a year later if he is still interested on making contents, and shift to something else: like streaming games instead of making reviews.

The thing is i don't even believe he loves videogames, his goal was only to join IGN (he tried so hard as a destiny player in the past, and then he used the Switch) and to make money from the youtube channel, he copied other reviews only because he needed to make reviews quickly.

But don't get me wrong, he deserves all the backlash, i'm not even sure if he has ever produced original contents based on his ideas that stealing is good.

Maybe, but he'll have to go silent for a while right?
Can't imagine it's easy not earning a salary with a child in San Francisco.

The youtuber Dreamcastguy mentioned that Filip told him that he was working like 80 hours a week. Assuming he spent very little of that time writing (for obvious reasons at this point), I wonder what portion of that was spent towards video editing/prepping for NVC/actual work versus playing games for his jobs.

I sympathized with him for his plight a bit, as I've worked jobs where I've had insane schedules like that (caused me to quit one job, eventually), even if it doesn't excuse/diminish what he did at all. But the fact that this goes back so far and that he's seemingly built much of (if not his entire) his career off of it? Good riddance...

Oh my god, you're acting like a complete asshole.

All I'm seeing is people insult me and quote the first comment in a conversation without reading the rest of it. I don't think I've sworn at anyone or used bad language. All i've tried to do is direct people to the rest of my comments for added context. Those that have been rude to me, I've been snarky back to, and those that have read the rest of my comments have had normal discussions with me. If you have a problem contact a mod.

Do you think people go out and read every single review for a game under the sun? The only reason why he got caught is because the reviewer himself noticed it. Nobody would have if he didn't.

Please read the rest of my comments, I don't want to keep repeating myself and I also don't want to ignore your reply.

I think it says a lot about how hard it is to attract people to San Francisco to live for what IGN is likely paying them.

God, if it's ever revealed that the guy didn't even genuinely have a strong passion for videogames...that would just be the antithesis of the proverbial cherry-on-top for this whole saga. I would hope in an industry such as this/company such as IGN, only people who truly cared about the gaming industry would be there for the gaming relevant positions.

if you were filip miucin, what do you do at this point, how do you move past this. he's still a young guy, he still needs a job, he probably moved to SF for the IGN job (if he wasn't living around that area already)

post an actual apology video admitting you plagiarized reviews in the past? is there anything else he can do

in a way i feel sorry for him even though obviously he's a unashamed plagiarizer...the blowback he's getting seems out of proportion to what he did.

Even if he does a genuine apology, it's already too late. He totally ruined himself with the deleted video and the other evidences being uncovered.

There is no coming back

Apparently there was some tough competition for that job, there was another guy from Nintendo Life (and probably someone else) who was interested, but IGN picked Filip because they decided that youtube personality was better than a real journalist.

Yeah, the best thing he could do at this point is disappear and get a job somewhere with very little or no public presence. He was a marketing director in the past, so maybe he can go back to something like that.

Has this been posted yet? Made me laugh out loud. Not sure if this is true though.

This just keeps getting better. Give it a week and we'll find out this guy is just a grifter who stole the real Filip Miucin's identity.

It seems people are having more fun with this (sad) episode than actually playing some videogames. Guy is destroyed, why more gasoline to the fire?!

Because he doubled down and brought the further scrutiny on himself.

Doesn't deserve a click. Doesn't deserve attention. If there's doxxing, it's probably some other guy's details he's claiming as his own.

When he threw Jason Schreier under the bus, he threw all his own credibility along with it.

Fuck this guy.

Complete with dumbass face YT thumbnail.

Get lost, thief.

Have fun trying to find work.

The absolute madman is doubling down. He has zero understanding of what he did.

i still had a little pity left for him, but now it's gone.

terrible response video.

Dont read the youtube comments. But there are actually people defending this guy.

No sympathy. No admission of guilt. Just a bullshit apology in attempt to save his youtube career. Excuse me while I throw up.

Lol, he also liked a bunch of positive comments so they show up first under his video

Wow what a shithead... he really needs to grow up and take responsibility for his actions.

Filip just comes off as a sociopath to be honest.

He must think everyone is extremely stupid.

I'm waiting for someone to find out that he plagiarized his apology video.

I didn't go through the whole thread but just randomly skipped about and to be fair, not all the comments are like this but the very vast majority of them are.

I know the internet is not like the real world and I don't have data on the demographics of the kind of people in this thread like genders, education level, age, economic statuses, etc to make inferences about what you people are like in the real world, but in this thread at least you're all complete douchebags.

The guy made an unforgivable mistake and lost his job as a result of it. His credibility as a journalist is shot. None of this is sad or troubling but this is where it should end. The harassing of his family and him is unacceptable and represents a level indignity that is extraordinary (someone above called him a sociopath.....really?). The fact that people just want to pile on, as demonstrated above is disgusting. Leave him alone, he is done. And for everyone in this thread whose made worthless comments like the above, I hope one day when (not if, but when) you make a mistake in your life that someone will publicize it to such an extent that you will experience how awful we are to one another in situations like this.

He fanned the flames by basically daring the internet to dig into his past and find more examples of plagiarism. This story would be a lot closer to being over and buried if he would have stopped being a coward, owned up to what he did, genuinely apologized and kept it moving.
