Great news! We're doing a free Hunt weekend on Steam, starting right now. During the free weekend, the game will also be 20% off.

From Thursday, August 9th at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/ 7 pm CEST to Monday, August 13th at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/ 7 pm CEST, you can play Hunt for free on Steam. So clear your calendar, notify friends, and go download Hunt right now.

The free weekend event also coincides with the addition of South American servers to the game, bringing a new continent of players to the hunt, and a brand new set of six Steam trading cards to collect and trade while you're doing it. Shortly after the free weekend, the game will see the addition of the Water Devil, a new AI that will make wading through the Louisiana swamps where the game is set even more dangerous.

Can it run Hunt: Showdown?

Been curious about this one just from a technical standpoint. I'll install it this weekend, and likely delete it Monday lol

Was actually looking at this during the summer sale but decided I had enough to play. Guess I'll hop in and see if it's worth it.

Try it, if possible together with a friend. It's a lot of fun, it looks great (especially at night) and it can be fucking scary...if you don't like spiders ;)

Fuck me, finally gave this a whirl and after a few bad starts of not knowing what to do, or the random team mate being a plonker, I just had a wild one.

Started in a duo, he just stayed at spawn doing nothing ..... great start, so I ran off to find those clues. Didn't have any hassle, few zombies here and there, dodged or killed them no sweat. Got all 3 clues and headed to the last spot, could hear gunfire going off like mad over there. Get there, see some other hunters popping shots at each other close range, saw a couple die, so I sniped both of them in the head. Lovely 1 hit kills, feels good.

Run on inside, there's the big boss pig thing, not sure if they weakened it but it didn't take very much to put it down (2 sniper shots, full revolver load). Started the banishing thing and hid in a corner. Once done, grabbed the loot, and wondered if someone was waiting outside. Exited the back door, 2 sneaky hunter cunts tucked behind a wooden fence. They shoot and hit me, I fire back but miss, so peg it towards the extraction. Turn around the spot them chasing me, so turn to 1 of them and bam another snipe headshot to put him down. Then the other one charges me around a tree, close range pistol fight, but I hit him consecutively with 4 rounds and kill him.

Off to the boat, no drama, got out.

This games great. How many contracts are in this thing ? Do the missions all follow the same pattern ? Can the boss be stumbled upon before finding all 3 clues ?

Yah, you can find the boss randomly if you go to its spawn (which is random).

There are random contracts: Which are Day/Night + Foggy/Clear + Single Bounty or Dual *(One boss or Both.)
Alternatively there are fixed contracts (Spider/Day/Clear for example) that rotate. Typically there are three contract playlists.
They are adding rain and random weather aswell as another boss and map.

Two bosses (butcher and spider), that can be either single or double boss maps, on three time of day variants. So technically 9 different contracts.

Yes, all missions follow the same basic flow of find clues, kill boss, extract with bounty. Which is all an impetus to drive player interaction of course. Double boss bounties have the additional wrinkle of trying to make it out with both bounties. ("Running the gauntlet")

You can absolutely stumble on the boss. If you do, you'll skip the rest of the clue gathering, and can immediately go for the kill. You lose out on the clue gathering cash, but obviously you'll likely secure the boss killing cash.

Finding the boss at your first compound definitely adds to the pressure on single boss maps, since you can be sure the entire server is converging on your position.

Game is super cool. Partnered with a random, and another player who was shooting at us kindly informed us that there was proximity chat and he could hear us after we got into a shootout. Then he teamed up with us and we killed the butcher and he showed us how to extract. Thought maybe he would double cross us at the last minute, but nope he stood on the shore while we stood on the boat and we bid eachother farewells and thanks yous. Can't wait to play more.

Runs pretty crap on my rig on low at 1080p. Mostly locked 60, but I had a couple places where the framerate tanked and stuttered. Can't keep a locked 60 on medium at 1080p.

My rig is :
gtx980 SC
I5 4690k
8gb ddr4

Hopefully they optimize it a bit but it's playable.

Downloading. Glad I'll finally be able to try it, I signed-up for the very first alpha and didn't receive an invite. Eager to see how it runs on my rig.

Played a few rounds last night solo and had a great time, felt a very unique/fresh experience for me, it's a good looking and fun survival horror game where behind any bush there could be an actual live player trying to kill you. I love that the game doesn't tell you how many people are alive in a server, so you're always paranoid. Can't wait to jump back in today with my main PUBG duo partner.

Sadly the performance was terrible and left an ugly tastet, and might be the reason I don't buy for now, at 1440p had to play on Low to kinda hit 100fps.

And known pro tips to improve performance??

They removed the option to edit your config but they do plan on giving more graphics options within the next 3 months, including optimizing the game

Surprised this thread isn't bigger. Is it just me or is this game super underrated? It's crazy atmospheric, I've really never played anything like it.

Edit: just seems weird there's big new game from Crytek and I never see anyone on here talk about it.

Online only PC title that takes a very good gpu/cpu to run is my guess.

Personally its my favourite game this year, it oozes quality, graphics and sound are unmatched.

I'm downloading this game solely to hear about the audio design people rave about.

As someone that's been looking for an immersive shooter - I'm looking forward to putting on some cozy headphones, turning off the lights, and playing this one tonight.

Did they fix the loading?

That shit drove me nuts in the beta or whatever. Waiting like 5 mins to start. Or more.

The game is great I just wish there were more graphics options. Playing in 4K on low/off everything puts me at like 20 FPS with my 1070

For what it's worth, CryEngine and 4K don't really mix. I can't think of many modern CryEngine games that perform well at 4K. It's worth noting Tiago Sousa, the former lead graphics engineer at Crytek who departed to replace John Carmack at id Software has said that "4k is a waste of resources."

The sound is really something. I'm not really a headphone guy, I usually prefer using my 5.1 set-up, but once I played a match and realized I needed voice chat to really get anywhere, I threw on my headphones and it really does the trick. I was genuinely unnerved even after I finished playing. My gf was out at a concert so I was home alone, went upstairs to shower and go to bed and I couldn't sleep because I felt really paranoid.

will it spoil anything? since i haven't seen any of the monsters and if they do look cool and scary i don't want to get spoiled.

Yes. It spoils alot in regards to monsters and bosses. However you are given contracts before you start a match with pictures of your targets, the video is made by the Devs and is great for new players

Installed the game last night so I could give it a shot after work today. Looks beautiful and has been on the wish list for a while now.

Is there a solo mode? Or just random duos if I queue by myself? Not a deal breaker if I have to play with a random but always prefer solo modes.

There are both, it gives you an option to choose. Solo seems much harder.

Currently when playing solo you are against other solo and duo teams, Crytek have said a solo Q is coming.

Nice. I'm worried about performance but I guess we'll just have to see how it goes later on today. I'm super excited to try, though.

The difference between low and high really isn't much in Hunt right now. And if you're hitting 100fps at 1440p, that's pretty good for Hunt and its current optimization and visual fidelity.

Map loading speeds have been much better for several patches now.

It's a mix, but the pve really exists as a macguffin to drive player interaction and pvp. Pve fights in and of themselves aren't complex or varied enough to be a full game. But as a mechanic to attract other hunters together, they work really well.

At least for me, my enjoyment comes from the pvp and tension surrounding the pve, not the other way around.

Was just gonna ask about this. If I'm not big on chatting in game, this doesn't seem to be like something I'd enjoy in the current state, right?

Sure communicating in-game helps in duos but it aint essential, I play random duos without ever speaking just fine and think of solo as "hardcore" mode, you're down, you're out, no revivals.

Remember the game has proxy speak, if you type or talk anyone in close proximity can see what you write and say

I've settled for playing at 90fps with occasional dips to 50-60fps on Mid settings, it looks really good and the performance while not ideal is bearable for now. :)

Looking forward to the performance patches that I'm sure will come.

I've been super intrigued by this game, and had about the most perfect first experience with it. I generally knew what I should be doing based on videos online, and was teamed up with a good player. Had a very tense and immensely satisfying first win against the butcher. I'd still prefer a good solo experience (which seems to be in the roadmap) but yes, I'm extremely impressed.

Just had a good session of this. Was intending to play a game or two then try out Monster Hunter... Ended up playing Hunt all night instead! Hehe. Great game. Some very tense situations and hard earned victories.

Played a few sessions with a friend. Looks fun enough. But performance and lack of content will keep me from buying for a while.
