Nice! Switch!!! Can maybe justify paying $60 this time if it's released day and date with the other versions.

And I guess this confirms that Bethesda was pleased with the sales of Doom on Switch. I'm expecting ongoing support from Bethesda going forward.

Will buy on steam if they're not dicks and make it bethesda launcher exclusive. Otherwise I guess in for a ps4 rental.

Surprised it's coming to switch on day 1. I will be interested to see how many choose to get it since it's practically guaranteed to be the worst version by far.

This is nice and all but have they even confirmed that Switch is day and date with the other releases yet?

"will launch on" kind of implies it. Considering Panic Button's experience with idTech (well, 6 but 7 isn't likely to be an entirely new engine) I doubt it would be necessary to be late, especially since this is very likely going to be a 2019 release.

I'm going to end up getting 3 versions of this game. One X at launch (resolution), Switch at the first discount (poop and tear), and PC when it's $20 (144hz monitor).

It's cool they are pushing for release date parity for Switch. For me personally though, I need to experience this on the big screen with as many bells and whistles as possible, but I like that Switch players won't have to wait.

I played Doom on my Ps4 (before selling the console) and my PC and it is not even in the same league. It is still fun on consoles but on PC the feeling is another level, much more satisfying
You sold it before you can play Spider-Man? For shame >:(

This is nice and all but have they even confirmed that Switch is day and date with the other releases yet?
That's the million dollar question. I would think so. At the very least, it's encouraging to have it announced for the system early on

Edit: I made that in gimp and am actually not a photo editor at all and I have no idea how to keep it so the gif actually moves. =[

No it's still pretty objective. Portability doesn't make up for butchering the game with half of the resolution, more than half of the framerate, and every effect on its lowest possible setting.
"It's objective because my entitled opinion suggest that because I cannot sacrifice visuals/fps for portability then it must be the absolute truth that the Switch version is the worst for everyone".
Do you even know what "objective" means?

Damn, first time I shall be buying 2 versions of the same game for myself on day 1.

It's just too hard to choose between 4K & portability on a game I know I will finish more than once.

I have a PC that could run this 1440p 144 fps ultra and Im gonna get this day 1 on Switch and later on PC during a sale. Portability is a hell of a thing.

Here for Doom Switch. Kinda worried what kind of concessions the game will have to make to run though...
Wolf II features the odd minor tweak to level design in order to make the game run reasonably in certain areas on the switch. Just stuff like the odd wall place here or there to help with things like culling etc. It was also very aggressive in dropping resolution to try and maintain 30 fps. Doom was not quite so aggressive on res dropping but wasn't quite a smooth as Wolf II.
With Panic button being on the Job seemingly earlier in development we could actually see some alterations in levels in order to keep framerate up, although ID Tech 7 can apparently put nearly 10 times the geometry on screen than ID tech 6.
If Doom was an impossible port and Wolf 2 even more impossible then Doom eternal is beyond impossible. Panic button are going to be pushed to the limits on this one.

There was a lot of belief the game would come to Switch because why not... we already had Doom and Wolfenstein II, may as well make it a trilogy

I'm honestly shocked Switch is coming same day. I'm in though, Doom Switch was perfect for playing in bed.

If this is coming day 1, I hope that means Panic Button had a lot of time with this and avoid the issues with the first game

Sure, but this is the first actual new game simultaneous release AFAIK. Doom, Skyrim, Legends. All ports from multiyear old games. People doubted a port would happen for that reason. Exciting it's happening though!
You forgot about Wolfenstein II btw ^_^, Ya they may be old ports but Bethesda doing such a good job compare to other 3rd Party developers. Sooner or later I even think Evil Within 1 and 2 ports for switch can be doable ^_^

Still haven't played the game since I've bought the game with the last Steam sale. Just finished Mankind Divided including the DLC, so I should get around to it. But day one Switch versions is quite something!

First thing that stood out to me was the gore has been upped and enemies take real time damage which to this long time gamer... is fucking awesome! I love games that let you blow chunks out of your enemies and they just keep coming. Can't wait to see this in action with the bosses.
