Crazy that the excuses of late full price ports on Switch might end soon...assuming the port is on the quality of Doom and Wolfenstein 2 - which is likely considering the dev. This is gonna be a day 1 purchase, just because Bethesda made things happen other devs/publishers only talk about.

Someone PLEASE shop in a live flaming Chibi Robo to celebrate the Switch news. I'm surprised I haven't seen that happen yet.

Am I the only one that not surprise by it having a switch release? Bethesda been pretty good with Switch games releases compare to others ^_^

Fantastic news for me as I don't really have the opportunity to play on my PS4. Switch version it is. The game looks amazing.

No it's still pretty objective. Portability doesn't make up for butchering the game with half of the resolution, more than half of the framerate, and every effect on its lowest possible setting.

I mean we're supposed to be about playing games here. Crippling a game's playability should be a huge deal.

"OBJECTIVE" lol

The DOOM Switch port didn't "cripple the game's playability," for me, and that was doubly true when the gyro aiming patch dropped.

Sure, but this is the first actual new game simultaneous release AFAIK. Doom, Skyrim, Legends. All ports from multiyear old games. People doubted a port would happen for that reason. Exciting it's happening though!

Will buy on steam if they're not dicks and make it bethesda launcher exclusive. Otherwise I guess in for a ps4 rental.

Surprised it's coming to switch on day 1. I will be interested to see how many choose to get it since it's practically guaranteed to be the worst version by far.

Okay? You act like this has stopped console versions of games from selling well when they're also on PC

But I'll give you props for not being one of the
"Why would anyone want an inferior (Switch) version?"
*Buys PS4/XBO version when PC is available*

Holy shit yes! I was worried I'd have to find time to play this on PC.

Surprised they didn't announce this during the stream.

How did the first run performance wise on Switch? I'm a bit surprised this will be there day one but I guess the engine is just that good.

Prediction -

Doom External will launch on Switch.

Digital Foundry will make a video where they say the resolution and frame rate is lower than the other versions.

People on Resetera, many of who will not own a Switch, will complain and mock the lower frame rate and resolution. This despite the game being a technical marvel for the hardware.

But Era told me Switch couldn't handle AAA modern games.
I think the switch can play a lot of AAA games (I doubt it could run a game like red dead though) but with a lot of concessions (like 30 fps instead of 60 fps, sub hd resolutions instead of 4k, lower textures and lower graphics in general) of course people who only have a switch will take it, or if they value portability above everything else, otherwise if you want better fps, resolution and graphics you would never get it on switch if you have access on other platforms.

Wow, I never would have expected a Switch version while seeing the footage - nevertheless a day 1 Switch version!

Excited to see how it will look there and if it will get a stable FPS AND a stable resolution.
I'll buy in day 1 on PC, but it's great to see the portable that could trucking on with another Doom.

I played Doom on my Ps4 (before selling the console) and my PC and it is not even in the same league. It is still fun on consoles but on PC the feeling is another level, much more satisfying

Oh man, it's a bit harder for me to decide if I should do PS4 or PC with this one now that they announced the MP invasion feature. PC has mouse and keyboard, but it will also have cheating invaders. Meanwhile a controller sucks for fast-paced FPS like this but there will be no cheaters on PS4...

Give us gyro aiming on PS4 too!

Depends on your preference. Being able to play your games wherever and whenever is also impacts on how you play the game as well as gyro controls

The subjective part is how much it bothers and individual that its been "butchered." I played it on max settings at 4k on my PC as well as on Switch and while I noticed a difference, it really didnt bother me all that much.

Also, one can make an argument that requiring a sitdown machine cripples a games playability for that individual.

Now that's not me and it doesn't sound like it's you, but I dont really think I can talk about what is objectively worse overall with any definitive statement because there are things (like mentioned above) that are totally subjective in the equation.

Switch version is great to hear, hopefully not a lot is compromised. I don't know how well the Doom port was.

I was... I was convinced that there won't be a Switch version. Wow. Makes me want to not skip it despite the inevitable mandatory download (I've already excused the first Doom, which was an exception for me).

Here for Doom Switch. Kinda worried what kind of concessions the game will have to make to run though...
