Depends on how his contract was structured. Likely Nintendo has full ownership over the assets so in such a case they would not need to ask for permission to reuse them.

Why would anyone think Goku was possible?
May as well throw in Mickey Mouse if
Goku seemed possible.
I expect this in large droves once people realize that characters like Goku and Waluigi won't be playable in Smash. Nintendo's first Smash Bros. game to bomb.
Do people hate Goku's Japanese voice? So much they would not play him? Lol.
I think it is better, also all the other adaptations I have seen emulated the Japanese voice which is more childlike.
Depends on the contract. They may own the samples perpetually. They may have to give him money to reuse his lines (and if they do, they may not have to pay him till after the game is released). I don't know his contract or even the standard agreement for minor voice over lines in video games.

Bullshit, last time the subject came up people compared her to "dying cats". People are so set that Goku's voice has to be manly or whatever to the point where they cant accept that people might prefer the original.

"BUT SAKURAI CHANGES MIND ALL DA TIME!"
Seriously, these people don't seem to realize how ignorant they sound.
Currently, Stephanie NadolnyWho even voices kid goku in English? never seen the original series dubbed
Alright, since you seem so intent on using the word that I described her as let me clear up my perspective.
Her voice, by itself, is fine. As a voice actress I'm sure she's very good, delivers her lines well and is believably emotive. I respect her talent and passion to her craft as a person doing the job they are paid to do and doing that job well, as in using their voice to believably express emotions and bring characters to life.
All of that being said, my first exposure to Goku was through the english dub and I only listened to the JP voices much later. As a kid, I'm sure her voice fits the character very well. As an adult it was and continues to be an awful fit. He sounds like he's still 12 years old and the argument that his voice somehow preserves his innocence and childlike-ness is garbage. They could have easily made him "childlike" without having the voice a prepubescent kid through other traits and more importantly; behavior or personality. If you like it for adult Goku that's fine, but I think for an adult man that voice is godawful.
Finally, look at your last sentence very carefully, because you were the one to first accuse somebody of not being a fan if they didn't like the original JP voice. Something which, I don't think I've seen anybody else in the thread do.
For fuck's sake.
Seriously. Goku has more of a connection to Nintendo than Cloud does.
Cloud is videogame character from the video game series final fantasy. While he himself was not, his series was historically on the Nintendo family of video game systems including the Nintendo entertainment system and the super Nintendo entertainment system. Goku is a manga who already stars the cross over anime fighting games
Cloud originated in a video game, and the franchise he's from is a video game series. Goku is from an anime.
He's a videogame character whose series has a history with Nintendo. It is not complicatedSeriously. Goku has more of a connection to Nintendo than Cloud does.
Cloud is a video game character from one of the most storied franchises in Japan's history. A franchise that was born on Nintendo's Famicom.
If people didnt act immature with "nails on a chalkboard" "cats being strangled" "godawful" etc every time the original cast is brought up there would be no problem.
Going out of your way to try and berate something you know is loved by a lot of people as the voice of the character does make me feel like you're just too focused on whats "manly" rather than caring much about the history of the animation.
You're reaching. He put them in the same breath, that says it all.To be Frank Spongebob gets the most commentary on how impossible it is due to his status. Goku only gets two lines and then they moved on
Cloud is a video game character from one of the most storied franchises in Japan's history. A franchise that was born on Nintendo's Famicom.
Goku is a manga character.
obviously we need Lady Bow to start a Goku for Smash campaign to make this happen
she is the one true prophet
That's what makes his inclusion awesome. He signifies Nintendo vs PlayStation.Be honest, when you think of Cloud Strife, wouldn't one of the first words in your head be Playstation?
The only thing worse then Goku in Smash is Japanese only Goku in Smash.
Jesus, Goku's JP is godawful. Even if he somehow makes it into the game, I hope it's the english voice.

Goku is a manga character.
I would take Luffy over either.
Because he's a videogame character
If you use a freaking Trump gif to defend your stance you know you're wrong
Calling people not fans for saying those things is equally as immature. Surprise surprise, people care about the anime and character for different reasons, it doesn't make them less of a fan of it. Get off your high horse dude. The way they choose to express it might be overly harsh at times, but it doesn't mean they don't care for it.
