I didn't really get into futbol until about 4 years ago during the '14 WC. After the WC was complete I made the effort to follow the transfer season and just pick a team and try and stick with it. I chose Chelsea because I liked that Diego Costa acted like an asshole, something you hardly see in American sports. What I found though was by the end of the season I was actually rooting against Chelsea. I ending up loathing them and still do. Almost naturally, I was more tempted by Arsenal and Liverpool for style of play and club drama. My natural disposition was fuck Man City and to kind of laugh at ManU. I actually felt passionate for teams I knew nothing about..and it all came so easily. Like seriously, Chelsea and their fans can go fuck themselves.

Anyway, futbol was a great way to start a Saturday and Sunday morning (Pacific Time Zone here) before college and NFL football. An appetizer of sorts. Nothing better than cooking breakfast, first cup of coffee, wife and kids is all still sleeping and watching some wonderful EPL. After a few years though I'm noticing I'm consuming far more futbol and not really watching as much football. And this year, well, I'm fucking giddy about EPL starting back up and don't really care or know when football is back. I can't believe it took only 4 years for my taste in sports to completely change. It's just such a better game. Between relegation, games being only 2 hours, no commercials, ball is always moving around the pitch, level of skills, and the genius on the field, it's breathtaking to watch. I also feel futbol is becoming more inclusive and doesn't hang on to old stereotypes and machismo like American sports do. I'm sure I'll get a lot of, "cool story bro" reactions from this, but I'm curious if my reaction and slow indoctrination is becoming common in the US or did I just finally see the light that so many of my fellow county men and woman are too scared to seek out?

Also, Juergen Klopp is a sweetheart. I'd pay $1,000,000 just to give him a hug.

Calling soccer 'futbol' is like calling Apple 'Cupertino' tbh

And yes, Jürgen Klopp is a good chap

Wait so who do you support? It's been 4 years surely you've got a team now?

I'm also excited about the start of the new season.

I watch my Steelers, my Saints, and my Liverpool Reds. I get the best of both worlds during the fall and through winter. :)

You liked Arsenal under late Wenger for the style of play and club drama? They have been a cesspit these last few years in those regards. They finally look intriguing again after years of nonsense, just a pitty AFTV didn't fuck off with Wenger.

I secretly root for Arsenal above anyone else but that's just led to some weird heartbreak, eagerness, and self flagellation. Mostly I just really enjoy rooting against Chelsea because they are cunts, Man City because they don't seem to deserve all their success, and Man U because it's hilrious when they lose. I can't say much about the Spurs. Sure they are successful but in the way that's it's like watching paint dry. Just can't get on them myself really.

Eww...yeah keep that a secret.

And we dont win much in the form of hardware. But we have a nice display case. Excellent craftsmanship really. I hear Hugo is giving a signed pic of him holding the world cup to put in it.

The studies on CTE affecting players and the NFL ignoring them have turned me off on American football. The whole thing with owners banning anthem kneeling bullshit hasn't helped either.
