How the hell are you guys not filling up your storage? I'm with a 32GB MicroSD and 32gb interal(more like 20GB available Out of Box), and its already done for. Admitedly I have over 20 high profile games installed and over 1000+ music tracks on external along with 300 something photos, but I am definitely feeling the constraints.

Yep 2018 in the US, the only flagships worth looking at is oneplus and Samsung.

Did anyone here get any of the new Sonys?
Shinshoryuken did

....

But yeah, I got the Xperia xz2 premium like I said I would....
4k screen is beautiful, definitely high tier screen, not some low tier OLED garbage that some phone uses.
Battery life is Ok.
The phone is huge and kinda ugly, especially the chrome version. I wouldn't mine if they've kept the xz premium design.
Camera is actually good! Not some garbage like all Xperia phones.
The finger print location is stupid, why can't they just keep it to the side...
But yeah...phone ain't bad at all...

I suddenly remembered that the XZ2 Premium is the other $1,000 phone.

Apple really opened those flood gates.

I'm really hoping the 6T knocks it out of the park design wise. I'm on the S9+ now and a lot of the features that got me to switch from my 5T are overrated. The 4K video overheats after long use, the super slowmo video quality is poor, and the portrait mode is slower than on the 5T.

It's too bad that OnePlus isn't available with any carriers in NA just as Essential was, as I have a discount with my employer for a cell plan and it's cheaper for me to get a phone through a contract than buying unlocked and going with the BYOP plan. I calculated quickly and it would cost me $200-300 more if I went with OnePlus than a regular Pixel2 or S9.

Fortnite with touch controls is garbage. Not even worth the 2gb of space. Looks like ass on High settings too. PUBG Mobile won

It's also bad.

There's no winners here, although I may hook up a mouse and keyboard to my Pixel C and see what happens

Apparently the display on the Pixel 3 XL is 6.7 goddamn inches: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...-3-xl-production-unit-leak-usb-c-earbuds-box/

I actually don't mind the curve screen, original it was a bit too much on s6 edge and s7 edge. But they toned it down a bit.

That couldn't be true, if that happens I might get it. I'm a sucker for big screens.

Year of OnePlus. They just need some marketing to take advantage of these $1,000 plus flagships. I hear they're shopping for carriers as well.

First thing that made me interested in the Pixel 3 XL. Shame about that giant dealbreaker of a notch

The 6.7" screen makes you think it's a huge phone and yet the 3400 mAh battery is a head scratcher. If Huawei and Samsung can cram 4000 mAh batteries in their big flagship devices there should be no reason why it isn't possible for Google. More so for Samsung since they have to work with the S-Pen taking up internal space.

Bought the Note 9. Around $500 total. Got $450 for my Pixel XL2 on trade in. I am also hoping I can sell the headphones for $200.

That Palm phone will well absolute gangbusters if it's not completely rubbish.

It is going to be crap because it only has an 800mAh battery which will do well to last a day even with light use. And the screen is just too small.

If they had made it have the same footprint as the iPhone SE it still would be a small Android phone but it wouldn't be so compromised.

6.7 isn't that big corner to corner when you factor in there's a huge cutout in like 0.3" of that total

Snagged a spigen case on amazon, and the 2 pack whitedome screen protector for note 9.

Those are a pain to install and super expensive but are pretty much the only decent screen protectors for curved screens.

Which are needed too with how easy it's to scratch gg5 panels.

I didn't have too much trouble with the white dome screen protector installation on the S9+, it's definitely weird getting it setup though. My only problem with it was that it gets these tiny clusters of bubbles at the top and bottom over time (on the bezels and not on the screen thankfully). Weirdly, they seemed to come and go somewhat randomly.

The process really isn't too hard, just kinda stressful because of the cost of an attempt. Thing to most be careful of is finding a level surface.

Fuck that ugly ass abomination of a phone already. Show the regular Pixel 3.

No shit I feel the same way. Never cared about the XL to begin with so all this notch business doesn't even phase me. It is hilarious that everyone is forgetting that there is another Pixel 3 with slim bezels and no notch.

You just downgraded your OS to one that came out a year ago. Also the last OS your note 9 will get is Android Q while your 2 XL would have gotten Android R+

I don't think you get it. Pixel 3 is considerably smaller than the XL, and the phone is still stuck with 4GB of RAM. Pixel 2 was facing some severe performance problems lately, just before the release of P.

It's super understandable that people are annoyed with Google. Pixel 3 isn't the upgrade everyone was hoping for, and XL is a design abomination (with 4GB of RAM).

Yes, he downgraded the OS, but everything else was upgraded. From the battery to exclusive features with S-Pen. Design, screen, build quality, great cameras...

"Downgraded" OS doesn't really bother me too much. I tend to get a new phone every year and the XL3 seems disappointing right now. If things change, I can always sell the Note 9 and get the XL3 but until then, I will be more than happy with my purchase.

Unless Google decides it doesn't. See the Pixel C.

No idea what you are talking about.

Pixel C was not cut short. It got exactly what it was advertised to get plus more.

Google didn't switch to the 3 additional OS schedule until the Pixel 2 (probably because the extended Linus kernal support change).

That's fair. Enjoy your new phone.

Not everyone wants a large phone. Small phone is not a downgrade its a personal preference. Also I'm not saying I don't believe the slowdowns published by mkbhd and Artem but no one was reporting this before. In fact they are both comparing it to their one plus which is pretty much brand new compared to a year old operating system flash.

I've never had these slowdowns and most users in Pixel subreddits aren't either.

Do you actually own the Pixel 2 XL? Have you experienced it?

The camera is not better on the note. That was not an upgrade.

There could be a multitude of reasons why he went with the Note.

Hell, I replaced my Pixel XL last year with a Note 8 because I wanted a bigger screen, MicroSD support, and the S-Pen, all things the Pixel couldn't give me (well, the bigger screen, but that would require me buying a LG phone, and I'm not fan of LG products).

The Pixels are great phones, but they're not for everyone, just like Samsung's phones aren't for everyone. That's the great thing about Android.

Oh I agree but I don't think many of the buyers of a flashy new $1000 note know how bad they are being cut short on OS updates compared to a Pixel. Sometimes they fall for the marketing hype then 6 months later are complaining their device isn't getting updated.

I mean on paper the Notes are loaded with extra hardware features that the Pixels don't have. Unfortunately not everything is on paper.

Just look at the massive difference in updates when comparing the Pixel 3 to the Note 9:

Pixel 3 updates..
Launch: Android P
Android Q
Android R
Android S

Note 9 updates..
Launch: Android O
Android P
Android Q

I do see now that FallingEdge is well aware of the difference and seems to have the $ to swap as desired and not need long term support. Many buyers arent as informed or have the funds to upgrade when desired.

OS updates aren't what they used to be nowadays. Idgaf about them as long as the current build is stable. Oreo to Pie is meh. Google is playing catchup to Samsung anyways with every OS update they release.

So Samsung phones already have Digital Wellbeing?

Anyway Ignoring UI featues....

OS updates have low level improvements in every release that Samsung can't do. 7.1 brought improvents to touch performance, Oreo had battery life restrictions, Pie has improvents to the compilation of apps so they use less RAM.

Android APIs move the ecosystem forward to bring us better quality apps and better user experiences on our devices.

These aren't even just low level features they are actual new guidelines that app developers HAVE to follow. Samsung APIs are completely ignored by the dev community as they should be.All im saying is its not just about surface level features.

I'll never understand people trying to defend and justify Samsungs inabilty to give a shit about updating their now thousand dollar phones.
It's the same as the morons justifying the crappy OLED panel in the XL Pixel 2 from last year

That would imply most apps use the latest API.

They don't.

Um the slowdowns are there. There's literally videos proving it happens. I have a Pixel 2 XL and I've experienced it and it happens on a regular basis.

Can't escape now. Since starting this month no new app can be uploaded to Google Play targeting anything lower than Oreo, and by November, existing apps getting updates won't be able to either.

The sad thing is that they've been warning for almost a year already and there are still apps getting updates targeting kit kat out there, and that don't seem to be interested to update until last day at last minute which I expect to break stuff catastrophically because they're relying on old APIs to circumvent security measures, battery optimisations and all kind of loopholes.

RIP Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite

I don't use Facebook so I'm talking a bit out of my ass, but didn't they have some kind of strange "updater" service running in the background that basically gets their own APKs out of their servers so they can patch and update stuff avoiding Google Play? I don't know if it's a hoax or not but in case it's legit I wouldn't be surprised if they just stopped updating the app on Google Play and served all future updates ignoring google rules that way. And google taking another year to crack down all apps doing this kind of stuff because of fucking course Facebook wouldn't easily give up almost unlimited ownership and access to as much information on your device as humanly possible.

Nah, I checked and that's the minimum version they support. There's a difference between minimum API and target API. They target Oreo already. That just means the app is backwards compatible all the way back to 2.3 but they're forced to use updated APIs, methods and security measures if installed in a newer version of the OS.

Yeah even wirh low lvl improvements, I'm really not a fan of pie and I've been using the beta for months.

Note 9 being on oreo until spring is a plus.

As much as I dislike some of the changes made with Pie, I do have to say I'm getting significantly better battery life on my Pixel XL than I was with Oreo. It's so improved to the point where I think I'll hold off until spring of next year to see what the Galaxy S10 ends up being, whereas before Pie my phone was getting such abysmal battery life that I was in pretty desperate need for an upgrade this fall.

Of course they all don't. Too many Samsung's out there on outdated operating systems.

Oh the irony...

You're too emotionally invested against Samsung, my dude. It's harder to make an argument look reasonable this way.
Fundamentally, the Smartphone needs to satisfy your personal (and daily) necessities - quickly and safely.

Note 9 will do that for the next 2 or 3 years, so he's good.
