A pciture of what the game looks like.

Could you not use retropie-setup to unistall that emulator and then reinstall it again?

Just make sure you backup your saves for that game.

I think I've fixed it, I went into the config settings and changed the SNES settings from 'unset' to 'false', which is annoying because the difference between unset and false isn't clear to me, but 'unset' seems to auto default to 'true' the soon as I load up a ROM

I then loaded the ROM and changed all the settings to 'default' or 'use config file'

I think the picture quality is ok now (no longer blurry) but the yellow text is fucking huge, and I wish there was a way to make it smaller again like with all the other emulators

IMG_5308_1.jpg

I just want the game running sharp and filterless, but without giant text

Hmm that's a weird one, all I can think of is to uninstall that emulator using the RetroPie setup and installing it again. Make sure you make a backup of that save game.

Do you want to get rid of the text? OR just want it to be smaller?

If you want it smaller try changing the emulators output res to the native res of your TV or higher.

I don't think it's the correct thread but I couldn't find one about the raspberry pi. Can you guys suggest me a mini keyboard + mouse?

Smaller, I'm fine with it being there as it lets me know a commend to save the state has registered

I'll try and change the resolution and see what happens

Do you know what the difference is between progressive and interlaced, as all the resolution options seem to be one or the other

I think I have selected one of the lower ones, or it's defaulted to that, or it's on use video output resolution

If not I'll try and back up my save and reset the emulator as MRORANGE suggests

I'm pretty sure all I did when it set the system up was change SNES games from 4:3 to 8:7, as most SNES games look a tad stretched at 4:3 on a flat screen TV, whereas everything looks better in 8:7, so presumably this will fix things

I just don't want to risk messing my save data up, and I would need to look into how I would reset an individual emulator (the others I use are set up perfectly)

Interlaced is only used by older TVs don't ever use it as it will mess up the image

Thanks

you can adjust the size of the notification texts in the retroarch settings.

I thought this would be the case, but can it be changed per emulator? Because on my NES, GBA and PS1 emulators text is small, its just huge now on my SNES emulator

Do you know where abouts these options are located within settings?

should be able to change it per emulator. i think?

go to settings > onscreen display > onscreen notifications > notification size

i believe the default size is 12.0

that's what mine is set at.

you can also turn them off if you like.

Thanks, I'll try this out soon as I'm home

Edit: It worked, thanks Psykotik

I have no idea why but the SNES text was set to 32, it was also not changed when I set "all" to 12, so I had to go into the SNES file and manually change that back to 12, weird

It's a little worrying all these settings seemed to change by themselves somehow

Just a quick install guide for those with Kintaro cases:

1. Turn on your device
2 Go into Terminal by either pressing F4 or using SSH
3. Type in this command:
Code:
 sudo wget -O - https://goo.gl/22RsN3 | bash
4. Let it do it's job
5. When complete type this, make sure the power button switch is down:
Code:
sudo halt
6. Turn the console on by pressing the power button up.
Thank you for posting this, finally got around to setting up my new 3B+/Kintaro combo

works like a charm! (and looks very neat :) )

No problem :)

Has everyone go their case yet?

My friend saw my case it and fell in love with it, he's new to Raspberry Pi's and been asking me questions ever since.

Hey everyone,

What would be a good Bluetooth adapter for a RPI 3 (the first model)? The input lag with the onboard Bluetooth is too high for games that aren't turn-based.

PS1 emulation on the Gameshell is interesting, BR2 is definitely dropping frames but other games look like they are running smooth:

- Sync combination with Logic Ics. The sync signal will be very clean.
- automatic support via scart of page aspect ratio 4:3
- Aautomatic support via scart RGB AV modus.
PI2SCART will be plugged on GPIO interface. Sound will be provided via cable from Raspberry Pi to PI2SCART.
PI2SCART needs no extra power supply

German but shows the results:

Forgive me but I dont jamma arcade and I've only done a retropi.
So basically its for folks goin to CRT to get proper input without lag and so that you can enjoy natural crt visuals without goin the route of using scanline enducing mods or something? The jamma thing though...does that mean that in addition to the pi and roms you could hook up original jamma boards to this and run it off of your pi setup? Please help me understand the options this opens up.

It's a shame it only display in 6-bit. :( It seems the Retrotink Ultimate is the only option for RGB 8-bit (and you'd need a VGA to SCART cable in addition to that).

Both are good but I really like the simplicity of Steam Link as it works flawlessly with no errors.

Should've taken this advice and picked a steam link up when they were cheap. Got my GS65 in last week and tried to sync it up using moonlight on a pi3 and just couldn't get it to work properly. I'd enter the passcode, but it would just crash when I tried to launch it. Probably going to wait for the next steam sale for a link.

Steamlink working "flawlessly with no errors" is a bit disingenuous IMO. It does connect pretty easy but after that depending on your setup it can be a cluster F.

The pi2jamma board makes it easy to hook the pi up to an arcade cabinet that's wired for Jamma

I've had no problems, you just need to remember that:

- Out display should match your monitor display
- Wired with a decent connection

I'm running it at 1080p 60gps and I don't even recognise the delay. It just works for me.

I've had too many issues to count especially using a PS4 controller and for games that don't support 1080p I finally just gave up trying to play any older games 2D games on it.

Hi guys,
So, my plans to use a vita TV as an arcade brain are on the backburner while I try to find support for my chosen usb arcade encoder.

In the mean time, I've gotten an Odroid XU4 (I understand this is a rpi topic, but I imagine its ok to discuss this here too) and am having some problems.
My plan is to create a box that can do 4 player n64.
I got 2 mayflash N64 to USB adapters, and after going through HELL getting lr_mupen64 to recognize the controllers (there are multiple threads from the past couple years of people not being able to get these working.. practically all ending in dead ends) I got them to work! I'm going to have to respond to some threads in hopes that people can find my fix.

But, now I'm having another issue and I'm wondering if any of you guys can offer any info...
The n64 analog stick at full tilt is only inputting about 50% tilt. As in, Mario cannot run. He does a fast walk.
I've found settings to change for the non libretro mupen64 and its something like analog_peak in the mupen64.cfg, but i cannot find a similar setting in retroarch_core_config.cfg or any other place.

I really want to use the LR emulator for this, as it seems to work best with the odroid xu4.

Anyone have any ideas? I've adjusted deadzone and sensitivity but they don't seem to help much.

Thanks

Yeah, and there is some wild discussion in that thread

Yeah, not surprised to be honest :(

What always irritates me is that publishers are willing to spend millions to defend their software but are reluctant to sell the software that millions of people want to buy in the first place.

So outside of functioning as a retro gaming station, how good does the Raspberry Pi 3 perform when it comes to streaming for example? I'm currently looking at the newest NVIDIA Shield TV model to do all kinds of stuff, but from what I understand the RP3 seems pretty powerful as well and I might get it considering it's also the cheaper option

Also, some of those cases look really hot

Overall it support moonlight so it's pretty amazing:

..well I'll be damned. I didn't know that an open-source solution existed for Gamestream, and that looks pretty amazing indeed. Considering I have many Steam games that are better played with a controller, the RP3 just got a bit more appealing to me - thanks for the response!

I really want to buy this plug and build portable Pi that BenHeck made. It is exactly what I want. 6 face buttons, D-pad and a nice size screen in a reasonable portable size.

I figured it out. I had to install jscal, create a script with the correction data, create a rule to run the script when the controllers are detected.

It's coming together!

Yeah, I'm generally pretty bad when it comes to technology so building a Pi was a huge undertaking for me, but I found it pretty easy and I couldn't be happier with it, and I wouldn't have even needed to make one if Nintendo could be bothered to actually provide a comprehensive virtual console

I've had mine a year and I must have beaten 9 or 10 games on it

Is there no other option outside of composite to output to an analog display? I was trying to setup an old PC in my game room but I think I need to give up on that project. I ended up getting another Raspberry Pi 3 B+ for "free-ish", but I'm a bit discouraged that it only outputs HDMI or Composite.

Oh wow. Did not know that even existed. I've been looking around on other Raspberry Pi sites and they more or less say you have three options: HDMI, Composite, and breakout LCD.

Still, $99 is a spicy meatball for component. I have an HDMI to component adapter so I might use that for now and see how that goes (haven't actually tried it yet). Composite doesn't look too shabby on my TV, but I definitely prefer the sharpness that S-Video and Component produce. Except for the N64. S-Video looks like shit for some reason.

Sorry, just rambling now. This has been a rolling project and I'd like to just finish so I could sit down and enjoy some old games instead of trying to get everything to look good.
