- Don't spend too much time getting collectables in the first area. Act 2 is when the game really opens up and you can always go back for stuff later.I just got this (took advantage of the cdkeys.com price error) and have no idea what to expect. Didn't play the original. Any tips before starting off?

- Gems are your friend, especially the white ones when starting out because they give bonus XP when slotted on armor. Treasure Orcs can drop them and if you make small detours to kill them as you travel around you will build up a nice collection over time.
- Don't forget to use the Glaive (hold attack button to charge and then release) after you get it. Seriously, I forget it a lot but it really helps deal with crowds and captain who are hard to deal with using direct attacks.
- Always try to learn and exploit a captain's weakness before fighting them.
- Dying is an important part of the Nemesis System so don't feel bad when it happens. Getting revenge on a captain gives better rewards.
- Ammo count on your ranged weapon is more important than straight damage. Objects in the world can be interacted with to cause explosions and other chaos and many ranged skills require ammo to use.
Holy smokes the balrog mission is stupid.
Breezed through the snow level fort even though i wasn't trying to- just kept running into warchief guards. Had an orc on my side both save me once and then get held hostage during a betrayal - had no idea that could happen.
Definitely starting to feel a little drag as I've unlocked all the abilities I care about. Skill point levels are now just spent at random. Feels like I need something more.
lol yeah the balrog mission was so random. they didn't even give much context. is that supposed to be the same balrog from the movies?
My nemesis just kicked my ass again and after he was done with me (no chance to escape his kill once you are down), he casually killed the overlord, gained 5 levels and is now the guy to beat on this map. I am so fucked and I LOVE HIM!
man you weren't kidding. i turned on xp boost and got a level up each time i defended my fort. leveled up to 60 pretty quick. guess i can go around boosting my legendary gear now. although those sieges were getting a little annoying. mostly because it was sometimes impossible to heal a bleeding captain without getting smacked by someone. wish there was a better way to do it. do we keep all the orcs we capture during these sieges? i mostly go around pulling the chiefs somewhere and dominating if i can or shaming them if i can't.You get a good bit of XP in the final act. I was around the same level as you when I started, maybe a couple higher. I ended up hitting the level cap of 60 with probably like 6 or 7 fort defenses left.
yeah i almost don't even want to use orcs with caragors or with ologs because they just delay the fights by a lot sometimes. having legendaries rarely matters much too.AI in the pit fights is hilariously broken, as is the camera. Both enemy and and ally orcs behave nowhere near as intelligently as they do in the field or during nemesis missions. They reeeeeally need to fix it.

i think you get it by completing the champions pit stage in minas morgul. after that you just go to the army and hit triangle to resurrect. i wish they gave you the option of trading unused skill points for money. i ended the game with 30 skill points unused.I'm on part 8 of the shadow wars and have no idea how I revive my Orcs. Guess I missed something.
Yes.One question about the loot that's impacting my purchase, is it random loot?
Wow thx. That makes a lot of stuff easier. Haven't been to Minas Morgul for quite some time.i think you get it by completing the champions pit stage in minas morgul. after that you just go to the army and hit triangle to resurrect. i wish they gave you the option of trading unused skill points for money. i ended the game with 30 skill points unused.
Just got this. Looking forward to playing around with the nemesis system again.
Could anyone tell me when the game opens up? Like, any crucial abilities gated behind story missions or anything like that?
Act 2 is where the game opens up and when you get the ability to start recruiting orcs. I wouldn't go as far as saying to speedrun act 1 but definitely don't spend too much time in it.
Is anyone else bothered by the jankiness of Talion's movement? There are lots of instances where I want to run towards or away from enemies and he starts climbing some walls next to them, or I try to dominate a captain next to me and Talion aims for another enemy much farther away.
I am currently making my way through act 2, dominating all captains in all areas and capturing fortresses. It is kinda starting to wear thin. I don't think I will bother with.shadow wars and call it a game after act 3
Pressing B/Circle at a ledge will drop to a hang, from which you can drop to the ground. You can do it while mounted too, but they just jump to the ground instead of hang. It can be kinda slow but it works. The difference in this game vs. others is that this one doesn't have a free jump button so you can only jump at ledges or up onto things you can climb so you can't jump early. I personally like this compared to Horizon: ZD for example. I've missed some crucial jumps in that game and had to climb back up and redo them because I did it too early or was not facing the destination ledge at a good enough angle for the "magnets" to take over and attach to it.Even worse is when I want to jump down - I'm convinced it can't be done if you're looking to drop between two things. In any other game with a jump I'd pad the move, jump early and fall down.

Damn. I put in eleven hours on this game today. The first act is okay but things get really interesting when you get to build your army. That's when the nemesis system really shines. I played on Nemesis difficulty up until The Arena mission. I just couldn't survive the last encounter no matter what I tried. So I got back to the open world, did a bunch of missions, leveled up and came back on Normal difficulty. This time it was a breeze. I wish I could play more today since I just got to the best part but I just can't anymore. My hands are hurting and my eyes are red as blood.
I'm bummed I never found a bard orc that sang while talking shit to me. Was the most surprising part of Angry Joe's review was the realization that those existed.
Wow this OT is a ghost town. After 49 hours of AC: Origins, this is pretty underwhelming and feels low-quality for a WB game from Monolith using the IP it has. But I enjoyed the first one and so the combat variety is coming back to me and I really enjoyed that. I saw some great tips from the first page. Any new findings since release? Trying to figure out a fun game play loop. I'll be sticking with it because the nemesis system along with the combat is definitely fun.
EDIT: Also, when playing on PC with max settings, sometimes the game will go low-res and slow. I have a 1070 and AC: Origins never did that. I'll be searching around.
