Next time I decide to start MGS3 from scratch, it'll be my fourth attempt I believe. I'm confident I'll like it now, as I'll know what to expect.

I played all the way through ac origins and didn't really like any of it but my friends kept saying it got better so I stuck with it. Unfortunately if anything it just got more repetitive And the story went nowhere in the grand scheme of things.

Probably World of Warcraft. Every other year or so, since 2005, I get the urge to try it again. I play a new character to level 25 or so and quit. The gameplay seems fine - I played a ton of FFXI, SWTOR, GW2, and FFXIV (which I still play), but I dislike everything about WoW aesthetically. The art, the music, the characters, the UI, and so on. I just dislike playing it, but people keep trying to get me to join them.

Final fantasy 8. I got 2/3 of the way through and realized I needed to grind and that was a nope. Not to say there wasnt some good in it or I wouldnt have stayed that long.

Fallout 4 is the most recent one. Even mods can mostly fix a bethesda game but not this one. Bethesda killed the game with the complete lack of substantial content. Killing 40 raiders and super mutants every ten minutes is not what makes a fallout game.

It took a loooooooooooooong time for Final Fantasy 12 to click with me. It's just so big and long and intimidating but once I finally plowed through and did everything, it just worked.

Dishonored series, as well. That also eventually clicked for me.

Zelda, Breath of the Wild. I even played and beat the whole thing...I just...It never truly got its hooks into me.

Any CRPG. I've tried 3 times over 3 different games, and I just cant get there.

I rarely don't beat games, so I hate played Pillars of Eternity until I beat it on easy. I recognize the quality, its just not for me.

I put about 8 hours into Persona 5 and 13 into Nier Automata. Wasnt feeling the stories or the gameplay systems in either game, but knew how much people love them so I tried to give them a fair shake

witcher 3

just found it incredibly boring, too long and too big.
i managed to complete the game, but i (still have) no desire to dig into the DLC. Too much story for me, not enough dynamic gameplay or action - and geralt is just a miserable character.

BoTW I have put about 10-15 hours in it. However, I have restarted like 6 times. I love the game until I leave the plateau where I just stop caring almost instantly and never keep going. It's weird.

Dishonored.

Finished it. But it was dull and awful. Easily the most boring experience I've had in a game.

Majora's Mask on the 3ds. It sounded like something I would love, and I'm a huge fan of Zelda, but the game just made me anxious as hell. I fucking hate timers. Honestly, I found Phantom Hourglass more enjoyable. I even have a MM3dsxl, and it makes me a bit sad every time I look at it .

Final Fantasy XV. My whole 40 hour play through lol. Terrible game. The darkest mark for me against the series since VIII.

In recent memory, it's probably Street Fighter V. And this is across 2.5 years and paying for three season passes, almost 1000 matches, and even going to locals.

I don't hate it by any means, but whatever combination of things they made to make this game, I just cannot deal with it; whenever someone tries to tell me "oh, if you ain't playing SF, you really ain't playing in the FGC for real" or some permutation there of, that irks me to my very soul.

Witcher 3 - forced myself to go back to it after dropping the game at the Barons Quest line, still hated the game and cannot understand the adulation but I finished it at least!

Years later and I'm still occasionally launching The Witcher 3. I'll have an okay time wandering the environments before eventually getting bored with everything else.

I last left the game after fighting off/avoiding an evil storm or something in Skellige. This was a few months ago. In another few months I'll probably pick it up again.

I've had The Witcher 3 since it had its first big discount on Steam, maybe earlier? It's been on my hard drive all this time.

I never really warmed up to Pillars of Eternity, the dialogue wasn't meaningful enough for me, I didn't care about most of the characters either.

Put hundreds if not thousands of hours into Hot Shots Gold World Invitational.

Put in about 10-12 hours into the new Everybody's Golf game and said 'enough is enough'... zero charm and zero personality. So many problems with simple game mechanics and the online portion of the game was a broken mess: no tournaments! Not sure who OK'd this games' release.

That said, I haven't touched it in 4-5 months. Have any improvements been made since then?

I played for about 20 hours before getting fed up with it. Sure, the highs I experienced were pretty great, but I'm not sure I have the patience to endure any more of the lows. Especially for the estimated length of both arcs combined.

I suck at Fortnite and PUBG. I like them, but not as much as I want to because I suck. In Fortnite's case, it's at least an issue of skill. With PUBG, I can't stand running for so long only to die to a far off shot I cant see, or dying to glitches. Just the other day I got a nice streak going, only to get stuck in furniture and lose the game.

Horizon Zero Dawn

The game started off so well, but once the world opened up I found the game repetitive and confused

Yea I've restarted this game a few times too and just recently dropped it again. The opening is really strong and I love the world/atmosphere, but once the game opened up it just felt like another open world game with RPG elements. I've played way too much Assassin's Creed in my life to want to do that again. Maybe I'll come back... but I don't know .

BOTW, Destiny 2, and Fallout 4 are recent examples for me. I have probably over a 100 hours between the 3, but they all felt like work and that 100 hours took a year plus. Versus games like Hollow Knight, GoW, and Witcher 3, where I probably spent 200 or 300 hours on between them, but it was in like 20+ hour a week chunks.

Haha, I've firmly decided after my last attempt it's just not for me.

especially after finishing God Of War. I cant help but feel if they had gone for the world size and scope of God Of War, the game could have maybe felt more together and impactful with the story they started out with.

I just feel with the size of open world they picked, they just didn't know how to fill it and tell the story they want. which resulted in a bit of a mess

Breath of the Wild and Nintendo games in general. I appreciate the artistic styles i love the idea of the switch but I just can't get into Zelda, Mario, or most other Nintendo franchises. I don't think it's age thing I don't believe in that argument from Nintendo haters, I just can't vibe with the games. As a company I think Nintendo is extremely boneheaded and I can't stand them but as a publisher and team of game devs I'm thankful they're around and appreciate their history and what they've done for the industry but the games just aren't for me. I really only enjoy Pokemon which isn't evenade by them just exclusive to their platforms, Mario kart can be fun once in a while but I am bad at it. Still fun once in a while with friends though. Just can't get with Nintendo.

Horizon Zero Dawn.

I made it to the part where you're up in a building and story elements are starting to be revealed and I just couldn't care. It's a beautiful game, it's fun also....but open world like that just isn't my thing.

LIMBO.

I really appreciate the work put into it but it's just not my type of game. That's the only one I can think of from recent memory, with 70 minutes on record

Witcher 3. About 10-20hrs each in 3 or 4 new saves over time. Recently bought it for the X as well. Annoying thing is I know I'd love it if I fell into it but the world design and the combat pulls me out. It's cheap enough that it's worth the repeat punt though.

Last of Us. Tried it a couple of times awhile back and will go again before TLoU2 because I want the story, but god damn I find the pacing an absolute slog.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Maybe 60 hours? DLC may very well add more to that.

I retroactively appreciated that Dawn of the New World was relatively short.

I put like 80 hours into 7th Dragon III: Code VFD and nearly 100%ed it within the last year and I still didn't really like it very much. I wouldn't say I tried to, I just kind of sort of enjoyed it enough to half heartedly play it while I was doing other things.

Maybe the Xenoblade series as a whole? I've collectively sunk a lot of money into the games and while I never finished them I've put like an average of 20 hours into each game (which isn't a lot, but the point is that I kept doing it game after game). Don't really like any of them, though the first one was at least average as far as JRPGs go.

Dozens of hours invested across Street Fighter IV and V. I just can't wrap my head around these games beyond their most basic mechanics. The skill floor is just too damn high for stuff like combos and hit confirms.

Fortnite. Installed and uninstalled it like 8 times and finally I'm into it. Even bought a Battle Pass. It's a pretty neat game.

Most recently Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Final Fantasy X with each about 20-25 hours. Finished a lot of games when I was into achievements on the 360 that weren't that great but I don't remember any of them taking too long.

Nier: Automata and Splatoon come to mind. I was really excited for Nier since I thought the character designs and world were cool but the combat was just so lackluster compared to other Platinum/Clover games. I have endings A and B on Nier alongside some other random ones but I'm not sure if I'm going to finish it. Splatoon on Wii U was another game I was excited for but just could not bring myself to enjoy, which is weird because I gave Spla2n a shot on my Switch and loved it. I think it's the fact that Switch can be played exclusively in handheld mode that made me enjoy it this time around.
