I mostly just read the gaming side for news now. I've been trying not to join in on the collective need to trash other people's choices to reaffirm my gaming purchases in some sad attempt to feel better about yourself. Unpaid PR isn't my hobby. Gaming is. A hobby... not a lifestyle.

Little bit. Between to constant idiocy going on in Washington and the relatively consistent stream of threads made by drunk posters or those needing to vent about any number of things on this side, it'd be a little hard for Gaming to ever keep up... didn't realize it was quite that big of a gap though.
EDIT: Misunderstood the numbers. In that case I genuinely have no idea how gaming has so much more. There's always way more going on on this side. I figured the endless stream of Star Wars threads alone would be enough to close the gap...
You know I feel like this is it most of the time, but there's been times I'm reading a thread and just surprised by the amount of people replying and focusing on one part of a post. Even after a user replies, clarifies what he means, 3 pages later you still have people replying to that one post instead of reading the thread and actually bothering to follow the conversation. Frankly it's annoying to read.
I think what you said is fair, but that 25% of the time is still annoying. Gamerside has fanboys, which are annoying, but it's not common. And even when it does happen mods are pretty quick (but man Microsoft threads can get off topic fast, that's frustrating).
Ultimately I visit etcera hangouts the most, and the second most common subforum I visit is etcetera. I really just go to gaming for Switch/Smash threads.
I actually made this account to help people in the PC building thread, sure i make a few posts here to test the limits of Poe's law and fulfill my quotas. But i'd much rather want to help someone diagnose a problem with their machine or explain why Gigabyte's VRM design is shit and gave me a serious bout of buyer's regret.

I recently made the decision to only participate in threads for things like movies, some "what's your favorite/worst/best" topics, sports, a few gaming threads, and other interests I share with people on here. It's been better for my mental health since going that route instead of the threads that get really heated. The way Star Wars threads have been going, I may have to cut those out in the near future as well.
I'd say the nature of gaming around the consumer calendar is why it pulled away... E3 or Holiday season boosted it all up by several thousand and they've both been cruising consistently since then.
That said, gaming side is all events and sales. Non gaming side is all tweets and reaction threads.
