From what's been said, it seems to mostly be outside artists contracted for card art.

he said earlier that he wasn't.
I guess he's rejoining the Campo Santo crew? It would be a bit odd if his hiring was completely unrelated.
Congrats and Good luck on Half Life 3! That's a great hire for Valve, I'm guessing they are going to get back into being a developer again. I've never been able to get one of your releases on Mondo. Will you please release the AP of the Die Hard poster, Thank you!
It'd actually be cool if he did some work for sales and stuff, like on the store when there's a big release they could have some custom art for it a la the Apple App Store recently.

His art and art directly is just so damned good. Can't wait to see what he's working on, whether In The Valley of Gods or something else.

Hopefully he's given something worth his time. I'd hate to see him leave with no major valve releases using his work
With the full power of Valve behind me they will only get more elaborate.

1) Thumbs stuff will return eventually! I feel insanely overloaded still to be honest. Eg: We're still working on Firewatch Switch along with everything else. (It'll be at PAX along with a new Firewatch booth somehow??) But yes we want to keep doing podcasts and eventually we will.
2) Re: wallpapers — When we first built the original Campo Santo office, one of the first things Olly did was quietly place a J Allard behind the Windows logo of my default wallpaper. That would be harder at Valve since, unlike Campo, our office computers have passwords, so we'll see.

Wow, I completely missed this news! That's super exciting. Between him, Yescombe and the other new and returning hires... Valve seems to be spinning something exciting up again.
