So I'm wondering if anyone knows this yet, or if this is even feesible. But after putting well over 200 hours into the PS4 version with several of my friends, we would love to switch over to the PC version for superior visuals/performance, but I also don't want to have to redo everything from scratch. Obviously save transfers or crossplay aren't in or viable, but does anyone know if there's something like being able to use cheatengine to just replicate or come close to replicating the equipment and items I had on PS4 without being banned/still being able to play online?
It should be possible, and I'm sure someone will have a solution for that eventually. As far as I know save editing is possible in the ps4 version, so once the PC version of the game is caught up with the PS4 version in terms of available content, I would expect something like this. If you don't need it to be an exact copy, I would expect this to be possible fairly quickly.

Envious of PC players that will have a (modded) transmog option instead of the trash layered system we console peasants have :/

so which weapon(s) are most people favorite?...any recommended weapon for a newbie to Monster Hunter?

I only played a bit of MH4 on 3DS and did not progress much. What is the weapon recommendation if you want to not comsume stamina too fast and move a bit faster in combat? I think I used a really large sword on MH4 and I was out of stamina after 2 swings ^^' (I'm so bad at this game....)

I think long sword and sword and sheild have always been beginner friendly. I used Lance when I first started and loved that.

I will be maining the charge blade (again), which I wouldn't recommend as a starting weapon for a new player as it's quite technical.

My first monster hunter game! I picked it up for ~$48 and have been eager to get into it. Think I'll start with long swords and as I get more comfortable branch out to the other weapons, especially greatswords.

Swinging weapons usually doesn't use stamina except for some of the special moves from certain weapons like the hammer and dual blades. Stamina is mostly for evasion and blocking.

That being said, it sounds like you used the Great Sword, which is a noob trap lol. It's awesome and what I main, but it's meant to be played as a hit and run weapon where you don't keep it out all the time and just run in for big damage when there's an opening. A lot of new players take it out and walk slowly around not realizing that's not really optimal haha. If you want something faster or more combo oriented with good mobility, I recommend Sword and Shield, Long Sword, Dual Blades, and Insect Glaive.

Really not sure what I'm going to main this time. On PS4, I was 80% Hammer, 10% LBG and 10% Lance.
I think I might try Bow or HBG this time, possibly CB if I don't run out of patience for it immediately (I will).

Hammer is probably the most intuitive, and also my favorite as someone who generally finds combat with other weapons clunky. It isn't as flashy as Charge Blade or Insect Glaive, but it outperforms most other melee weapons and is extremely maneuverable.

Is this game any fun to play solo?
Absolutely. The multiplayer has a great sense of community since it's all co-op, but the entire game can be played solo.

In fact, most people will recommend doing everything solo first, just so you can get used to the monsters and what makes them tick. You don't get that as much if you focus on multiplayer only, since the monsters act differently when they have multiple targets.

As someone who leans towards weapons with longer reach (HH, Lance, HBG), I've always wondered how hammer users deal with flying monsters like Legiana and Rathalos, who are always up in the air. Flash spam?

The level 2 charge uppercut, Golfswing, and surprisingly, the level 3 standing charge attack all have pretty high reach. Flash is generally easier to do of course, but it can be worth hitting the head for a stagger against flying monsters since they stay flailing on the ground 3 or 4 times longer if you knock them out of the sky with a stagger vs just flashing them.

Any Gsync bros have impressions with this game?

Also are loots/drops better with co-op? What are the advantages?

Flash helps, but a charged upswing can usually clip their jaw if they're close enough to the ground. Plus, you're getting knockdowns and knockouts pretty often with hammer, so their brains are usually paste long before the flying gets tedious.

That said, Rathalos is still a shit-tier monster because he constantly switches zones and plays hard-to-get.

Yeah. Here's their explanation:

VX0Q0gh.png

It will unlock globally on August 9th at 9:00am Pacific Time.

Pre-load...no change in status as of now. Again, the team has been afforded time and will be working very close to launch to ensure we deliver the best product possible. (above quote had a fat-finger typo/auto-correct, ha!)

We want to avoid a situation where you have to redownload a 15GB asset container file just because some files had to be updated at the last minute.

Great work on the OT! This will be my first time playing a Monster Hunter title.

Should I get it for PC or Xbox? My PC specs: 780 / 4770K / 16GB RAM / SSD and plan to get the One X in Black Friday (currently own original XB1 model). On Xbox I would play on a 1080P monitor. On PC I would aim for 1080P/60FPS on medium-high settings, also I won't upgrade the GPU until the '1180 Ti' or equivalent is out. Thanks for your advice.

The Switchaxe is the best weapon to grace video games. Want an axe? check. Want a giant sword that causes explosions? check.

I also really like the SnS, which is super versatile and even though it says great for beginners, it just gets better the more skilled you become.

your radial settings are connected to your inventory loadout, so if you customized the radial, you need to save the loadout if not it will keep on resetting
you generally don't want to lock on to a monster

Mt. Whatever
hell yeah bois.

Double-dipper here. Couldn't stand the PS4 Version, but I'm hoping 4K and faster load times help to ease some of my annoyances.

Also hope they release an HD texture pack down the road, or modders figure it out...

I'm sorry, but this sounds like the game is being rushed to market. Many games release on steam with pre-load without having to worry about this.

Thanks for making the thread, glad to have the PC version with its own thread seeing as Capcom is intent on making the consoles out of sync with the PC.

Not sure what I will main but I am thinking of going with Charge Blade then insect glaive. Maybe Hunting Horn if it is viable for solo now. I am mainly getting this to play the multiplayer as I have never experienced co-op hunting in an MH game ever.

Regarding the Great Sword: I am a MH noob and sure enough fell into the trap :p But it's so cool looking!

IKR! It's almost always the the weapon on the box art for most of the games, and when you think about killing giant monsters, of course the first thing that comes to mind is "I need the biggest sword I can find." I almost quit playing back in the day because of it until I watched some tutorials and realized I was playing it all wrong.

I'm sure you'll find a weapon you enjoy though...the different weapons almost feel like different fighting game characters, so there is something for nearly everyone in there somewhere. =)

I'm really tempted to pick this up today but with the real possibility of a high-res texture pack coming along with all the DLC it makes more sense to wait...

Any Charged Blade users? Got any tips? I've read it's the toughest weapon in the game to master. Sounds like fun to me. I guess the real question that follows though is if the weapon is ultimately worth the time and effort?

Looking forward to it! I loved Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate but my friends dropped it faster than I would have liked. I will be sure to play this one a fair deal more.

Somehow I have to squeeze this between Yakuza 0, Shenmue I & II and then Destiny 2 Forsaken and Valkyria Chronicles 4 next month but I will make it work. Somehow!
