Nobody has literally seen the character in question yet, so yes, assumptions are being made! It could just as well be another protagonist from that series, for all you know. That doesn't strike you as likely though does it? Why? Because you're assuming it's who you've been hearing about.

There was a hilarious old fake 4chan leak that had Steenee on it.
There was a really bizarre leak (I think made by someone on this forum?) that had her as a playable character for some reason.
Since Birdie is the one who wrote the leak, maybe he's trying to will his own leak into existence lol
If I remember, his sources said no Decidueye, Mimikyu, or Lycanroc, and one said Incineroar. So it's definitely on the table we get a curveball, like Rowlet or an Ultra Beast or something. (...please?)
I don't like marshadow that much, but I would even take that.
