I think Bioshock is a good fit. The setting would be great to explore and the tempo and gameplay would feel right.

I'm also playing through Skyrim now on Oculus and enjoying it more that I thought I would. The visuals with mods and exploration are about what I expected, and the motion controls work ok but don't really offer much over a normal gamepad except when using the bow or a shield. The part that I'm finding much more interesting in a VR play through vs regular is interacting with NPCs. My first time playing the game years ago I went through the main quest and not much else thinking the NPCs all very similar and bland. In VR I find myself talking to every single character and completing all side quests. Everything is just more interesting. I can only immagine how great it would be if a Witcher game was ported, although I don't know if the combat would be good.

I don't think you could go wrong with any walking sim, driving/flying, or horror title.

I'm of the (seemingly rare based on this thread!) opinion that you shouldn't just cram VR into 2D games. Fallout 4 was awful in VR because the interactivity that you expect in VR games (being able to pick everything up and interact with the world with your hands) just wasn't there. It felt like playing a standard 3D game in a headset. I thought Skyrim was marginally better but still nowhere near a 'real' VR game. Leave 2D games as 2D and make new experiences.

Condemned 1&2, thought that's a no brainer after RE7 horror success. Somebody yell at monolith. Siren also but gameplay might need a complete overhual. Killer7 is not last gen but felt like it was made for vr kind of like REZ. Mirrors Edge as mentioned.

Resident Evil Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles would be aces.

I'd also personally like Mass Effect 1&2 in VR, though a the third person cover mechanic would be tricky to get right, but they're such incredibly immersive worlds already, feeling like you were in them would be brilliant.

A Time Crisis pack with all 4 games would be awesome.

Also from the arcades Chase H.Q 2 and Planet Harriers, although Mario Kart VR on the PSVR would be more likely!

I will say this until I'm blue in the face.

DATURA!

Sony actually used Datura to prototype PS VR. It already supported stereoscopic 3D and looked great!

Why it hasn't been released for PS VR I don't know! Perhaps there was no actual VR support in it and they just rigged head movement to joystick input and watched the existing stereo 3D in the headset.

Siren Blood Curse. The game is already fully playable in first person and sight-jacking and VR are like made for each other. I would probably have a stroke while playing it but it would be worth it lol.

until your avatar slips and you find yourself hurtling towards the ground

I can play VR fine at sub 60fps with stutter and no reprojection (emulators and mods). I have yet to find a single thing that bothers me. In fact the stuff that bothers me most of all is forced comfort settings as it makes me feel slightly claustrophobic. The more 'intense' something is in VR the more I enjoy it. Most of the things that happen in Mirrors Edge anyway such as the roll and the turn are so fast that they likely fall into the category of Wipeouts barrel roll when the camera is locked to the driver, it happens so fast that it's hard to process.

Ideally, I'd like Mirrors Edge to be rebuilt with VR in mind, specifically the time trials taking inspiration from To The Top, Climbey, Windlands, and Sprint Vector.

Skyrim VR was really fun imo, and while I get what you mean about it not having total maximum interactivity, these sorts of games are still enhanced by the immersion factor of VR. Being able to look around the world and interact using the motion controllers made the VR version worth playing and buying for a lot of people, and even if it's not quite the same as something made for VR, it's still good. Plus, big names like Skyrim drive the purchase of more VR headsets, which results in more of the kinds of dedicated VR experiences you're asking for. 'Leaving 2D games as 2D' would mean less of the kinds of projects I and a lot of other VR users really enjoyed and lower sales for the medium, just because you didn't think it was good enough. No thanks.

Dishonored is a game I really want in VR. Things like blink ability are perfect and the immersive sim genre seems great for VR.

Ok, if you've played windlands, you know what you're in for :)

Dropping from heights and landing have this horrible side effect of making your guts attempt to climb out of you. Sure it gets better over time, but thats not feasible for a mainstream release.

Considering how great Penumbra worked in VR I would love/hate to play Amnesia in VR.

And I co-sign BioShock, Dishonored and New Vegas. I was actually counting on Bethesda to port at least FO3 to VR. I figured that porting older games after FO4/Skyrim VR would be pretty comparatively easy and quick.

The climbing you do in Mirrors Edge I think would only work if the controll system was completely overhauld (think Climbey, To The Top), and for it to become great the level design would need to be optimized. I'd take Climbey over ME VR any day

I'd love more walking simulator VR ports.

Gone Home, What Remains of Edith Finch, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter would all be fantastic fits for VR

I would love to play a Katamari Damacy game in VR. You'd get a fantastic sense of scale.

I loved Windlands, and that's largely because of the feeling of vertigo. I nearly fell of the sofa the first time I tried it.

All FPS "walking simulators" would be improved with VR for me. Pretty much anything that's FP POV I live in VR.

Mirror's Edge would be quite something. You'd remove "look" from pad and transfer that to helmet. All other movements would stay the same and you'd gain look acid controls back for the "up/down" vs buttons which I believe would actually work better - I.e. you'd run forward and push stick up to indicate climb vs a button push for climb and use free look in VR via headset to look around as you do do.

As I don't get motion sickness with VR and always turn off all VR controls (I.e. teleport or wedge turning etc) I'm for anything really with full control.

3D games would be interesting too - e.g. the 3D remaster is SOTC.

Horror titles automatically tend to get an immersion boost in VR so stuff like Outlast, Siren, etc for sure.

That said to work it can't just be a straight port - the best VR experiences I've had are either fresh titles or well considered ports with effort put into how VR works. For example Dice reworked Battlefront to produce the stellar VR X Wing mission and of course Skyrim was fairly well ported cintrol rose particularly Roth parched.

On PS4 VR though they really need to bring back the movement controller that was like Wii bun-chuck as that Roth a single Moce controller would be better than current pad or move only options for a lot of titles where a mix of proper sick driven movement but Move style hand interaction would be preferable.

VR games without interractivity are fine, case and point RE7 the greatest VR game atm.

You can already play some older games in VR modes with VorpX. Obviously first person titles tend to work best for true geometry 3D stereoscopic view, but you can easily also play stuff like Mass Effect on an immersive 3D screen too. Currently I'm actually playing through Jurassic Park: Trespasser on VR. It works surprisingly well, although there's no stereoscopic option. I think any first person "walking simulator" would work quite well in VR. It's actually the fast paced games like Doom that really don't.

What I'd like to see is more VR modes like with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. VR titles don't have to be first person, and it's still a great way to play AAA titles with more immersion even if you don't have the room scale interaction. The main reason I don't do a lot of VR is still the comfort factor combined with too low image quality and performance problems. Playing on a 4K screen with Reshade etc. is just the better option - for now. Hopefully once stuff like Oculus Half Dome materializes I'll end up playing a lot of games on it.

I know! That's what makes it so frustrating...

Folklore in VR could be sweet. Or even just as a 4k remaster with HDR...

Shadows of the Damned. Show me the big boner in VR!

On a serious note, the game would be cool in first person VR. Those environments, the gore, the atmosphere.
