Fine, I concede, Simon Belmont is worthy of being in Smash.

A character using a whip could be interesting, especially one as renowned as the legendary Vampire Killer. Much like Link is the only one worthy of using the Master Sword, only one man can use the holy demon slaying Vampire Killer whip so it make's sense that Sakurai would put him into Sma-

I know you're upset about Sakurai picking Simon over Bomberman, but this passive aggressive attitude isn't helping anyone.

https://sourcegaming.info/2016/01/21/sakuraixnomuraparttwo/

From the man himself. Castlevania was a HUGE influence on him, and he spoke of it in such a manner that he considers it comparable to The Legend of Zelda.
Unless Konami said no, Sakurai would have always chosen Castlevania over Bomberman. Also Bomberman isn't really an original Konami character, they just merged with Hudson in 2012 (most of there developers went to Nintendo by the way).

I... don"t strive to understand memoryman's thought process anymore. Even the Brock guy seems less erratic, and that's a pretty clear RP.

Basically, if Daisy, Ridley, Inkling, Simon, Isabelle and Incineroar are our only newcomers, then I'm saying that's certainly the final roster.

Let's face the facts, Donkey Kong is not a truly standalone franchise and Donkey/Diddy are way more recognisable than the rest of the DK cast, since they are also Mario characters. The other DK characters are irrelevant to Mario, and irrelevant in general.

Hey everyone! I got one of those Smash Bros pamphlets from the local game store, and I just realized something! Nintendo went and printed pamphlets, and sent them to stores, and the whole roster's on it, right? That's when it hit me: Verge's leak is fake because the entire roster is on the pamphlet! That means no Simon, no K. Rool, no Ashley, no anyone! After all, why would Nintendo print out paper that shows off the roster unless it was literally the whole roster!? So in conclusion, no more newcomers. Pack it up, everyone.

So many fans all over want K.Rool. Year after year he's asked for. He's on the most requested charts throughout the world. Dixie belongs too.

There is zero chance we will know the full roster before November and even then there's a good chance a newcomer or two are not revealed and left as hidden characters.

Ignore memoryman.

Whatever. You're always trashing DK.

Wait, people are expecting to learn the full roster today? Lower your expectations. We're still 4 months from launch.

Don't worry, there's only one person who expects to see the rest of the roster here. Though not long ago, they were telling everyone that we already knew the full roster as of E3, oddly enough!

You joke but I did think it was weird they printed out and distributed those pamphlets without everyone being on it. Kind of reminds me of the Melee roster pic, where there was the announcement roster with everyone in added later.

I have one of those sheets of the current roster but I guess I gotta throw it away in a few hours.

IIRC wasn't Smash Tour kind of leaked before Nintendo revealed it? I think the leak was kind of vague describing it as a board where you move around. I think many started thinking it was kind of like Mario Party.

I like how the modes for Smash Ultimate haven't been leaked.

I'm still keeping mine, since it makes for a good backdrop for Amiibos! Full roster or not, it's pretty nice looking.

I had one of them smash dreams last night because apparently I spend too much time in here.

The direct opened with the reveal of a new character, a transforming controller, no really and it wasn't even a Nintendo console specific controller.
The gimmick however is that you got a controller with the game that you could modify, attach SMASH stickers to and such and it'd be reflected in the game.
The main reason this was a thing was because it could be "transformered" into a sword form in which you'd literally just be using a floating sword, except the control scheme was entirely motion for this form.

In then cut to Sakurai explaining "I watch new players moving their controller about when trying to attack and it gave me the idea to make a really simple character entirely motion controlled where its attack options are limited but each hit packs a punch to compensate, you can even attach it to your mii swordfighter"

It was the gosh dang WORST, no reveal today can be as wank.

So Sakurai said all the stages won't be returning. Tbh he's probably just referring to that Miiverse stage not coming back. Everything else is probably good.

That kinda takes the mystery out of the direct but whatever, Simon is tops and I'd been saying HARD LOCK for months now so yay?

But maybe Alfonzo...

Also, don't they remove sprite Dedede from Dreamland 64's background when he's in a match?

Though that's on the complete opposite scale from Clone Ridley, since it doesn't materially affect the stage at all - Pyrosphere basically being 'the Ridley stage' is much more of a reason to cut it if the conflict is an issue.
