Nice OT. Forgot this was out in August.

This is the only game my wife likes to play. So much so that we played every night for a week straight and she threatened me with divorce twice haha. She wouldnt settle for anything other than 3 stars.

I'll hold off on getting it so I can enjoy Dead Cells for a bit longer hah.

Oh excellent I was a little worried about how easy it'd be for veterans.
Obviously if you are a seasoned chef things will go smoother, but the game is far more diverse from the beginning.
There are no "soup like" recipes of 3 of a kind of ingredient and call it a day. Instead recipes require cooking, mixing and various different ingredients.
Throwing stuff is a blast too (making a long throw and the ingredient landing on the pan is tons of fun!).

So far we've only discovered a secret level (Kevin level), but getting 3 stars there required focus!

glad to finally see an OT for this. I was afraid Era was going to forget this.

anyways played a few levels on PC. seems like they redid the scoring a bit and if you get a nice chain going it will greatly increase your score.

crushing things early on with two players, but the new system might make all the levels doable with 4 where as in the first game there were a few levels that we couldn't get 3 stars with 4, struggled with 3, and got easily with 2.

Played it with 3 other friends tonight and it's excellent as always. The difficulty curve is definitely not as steep as the first, as the first world was a breeze through World 1. By the second half of World 2, we were all yelling at each other lol. We typically refuse to proceed to the next level without 3 stars.

The throw mechanic is wonderful in the sense that it seems like it makes things easier but can be really detrimental if you spam it. Throwing tons of food through a busy alley results in the wrong person catching the item, leading to more yelling heh.

I have two friends getting it, and I still bought it myself because I couldn't resist the deal on the Razer store (25% off and a coupon for $15 off a purchase of $30 or more that expires after a month)

ideally something goes on sale in the next month I want, if not $18.75 for it wasn't bad.

I only played a few levels but I feel like throwing is going to be awesome and take a bit to get used to.

Never played the first one but really enjoying it so far. I'm playing solo and some levels are really tough to 3 star but still amazing game.

I'm confused. So you can play through the campaign in online co-op, but only with people on your friends list? And then if you want to play with randoms you're limited to Arcade and Duel?

Edit: Looking at their FAQ, what I stated above is how it works. Confused no longer!
Sorry, I meant "you can play online. .."

Played a few levels last night 2 player co-op. It's really good!

My only gripe is that the art style isn't as unique and as good as the first game.
The textures look too clean like a mobile phone game.

Began playing this yesterday with my wife, we absolutely loved the first game and have played through it numerous times. Really liking it so far, cool new recipes and still the same core gameplay that's so addictive. Loading times on my Xbox One X seem short and fine.

I might be woefully uninformed but can this game be completed by just 2 people? Someone I knew had the first one and said the later levels weren't able to be and thus avoided it at the time (wasn't particularly high on my list though).

Thinking about grabbing them both now if that isn't the case as looking for a game to play with my partner who doesn't game much but is up for co-op fun with simple controls from time to time.

So, I was playing last night with some friends, had a great time, however only the hosts story mode progressed even though we all played through the game from the start, so no chef unlocks and if I play locally I have to start from the beginning. Was disappointed with that.

Definitely. I put 20 hours into the first one playing exclusively with my non-gamer girlfriend and we had a blast. We finished the story mode and DLC content and got 3-starts in 60-70% of the levels (some of them are pure evil and it might be easier with 3-4 people, not sure about this though)

Overcooked is the perfect co-op game for people who don't play videogames often

Finished the first world yesterday within half an hour or so, 3 stars for all levels first try. So far the game is too easy for me and wife who beat the first game multiple times.. We are loving the game and will play more today.

So is this really just more of the same as the first game or are there improvements? Haven't finished the OG yet but my wife and I enjoy it greatly.

You know what you're getting into with this, given you've played the first. Feels almost like a standalone expansion. Some neat quality of life improvements, a throwing mechanic, new recipes, the levels seem a little more bonkers, but by and large, it is still very much more Overcooked. Which is a good thing! Just don't come into this thinking it's a radical pivot away. The sequel builds on a solid foundation.

Wonderful, thank you. I think that was the concern on my friends end that he didn't think he could get enough stars with 2 people to unlock all the levels. Sounds like he just wasn't good enough though lol. I'll download them tonight, looking forward to it as always heard great things.

Thanks for the input. Ill definitely pick it up at some stage, but think I'll wait for a sale. The original was so well considered that a radical change would be very risky.

Is it better balanced with 3 players than the first one? Really enjoyed the first 3 player couch co-op, but some level designs penalised 3 player set-up quite badly - wondering if this one has the same issues?

For those playing on switch, is there any noticeable input lag?

I very much enjoyed the first game (on switch), but the input lag hampered my experience a bit...Hoping that this is not the case the OC2 on switch.

Wut?
There are levels in the first one that are even EASIER in two players

How's the framerate on the Switch version?

Played through the first world last night in co-op on Switch and it was 30 fps with very few frame dips. Input was very responsive relative to the last game. Switch performance was clearly a focus during development.

Something I haven't seen mentioned: the game currently does not support 2+2 online co-op currently. I believe "couples co-op" was something a few gamers (myself included) might have been looking forward to, but it's not currently supported. Just FYI. The devs have mentioned that they want to add it in a future update.

My wife and I enjoyed playing the first one together...for a little while. Then honestly it stops being just challenging and becomes incredibly frustrating. Too many hazards and impediments to what you're trying to accomplish, and we stopped playing before beating it. It's too bad because for awhile it was a fun little co-op experience, but I am guessing the second one is more of the same.

I was literally just talking to a friend about doing a couples co-op together. Oh well.

EDIT: Also, I know I talked about it enough in this thread, but do other multiplatform games change their button layout for Switch due to Nintendo's confirm/cancel layout? I really messes with my enjoyment of Overcooked 2 that I can't adapt to the button layout.

My GF has asked me twice already when this is coming out. First time she's ever been interested in a game this much, we loved the first one and are going to play the shit out of this one. Best coop game on Switch!

I feel this game needs to have some more casual modes. A lot of casual fans (of which this game will have many), are attracted to the idea of needing to cook, fill up orders, and correctly get the recipes right.

But the game focuses a lot on platforming and chaos. Which is great for a party of friends, but I wish I could just chill with some levels that just focus on cooking as fast as I can and getting complicated orders done correctly.

I hope they can consider adding some free flowing kitchens and game modes like that.

Cook, Serve, Delicious almost scratches that itch for me, because it's more focused on nailing the recipes, but I wish it was less button heavy. I like the physical/manual interaction of Overcooked, but the complexity of orders/tasks and focus of the kitchen itself in CSD.

There should be a mode/level where people and food just randomly catch fire for no reason whatsoever.

I definitely feel you. I think the OG Overcooked was incredible and although I've only played through world 1 and a secret stage so far, Overcooked 2 feels better and the difficulty is ramping up in a better way (instead of level... 3? in the first one). I would kill for a chill mode though! Just being able to leisurely make stuff to order would be nice.

I kinda double dipped on this game on accident. Preordered digitally on the Switch, forgot I had done that and bought it physically on PS4. However, I might keep both. I loved the first game and my wife loved it as well.

Can't wait to play this. Overcooked is one of the few games that tests my nerves with my son when we play. "Where is my tomato?! WHERE IS MY FUCKING TOMATO?!"

I 100% the first one in 2 players with my partner (usually only plays Mario games). So definitely, and it was a really great experience... Aside from all the yelling...

This game is the perfect sequel
Me and the GF are having loads of fun! Currently on 3-4
They should release a hard mode, the Kevin stages are the most fun so far.

I never played the original but I'm looking for a good co-op game to play with my girlfriend. Is single joycon mode viable for two people? Thanks!
