My trick for Bridge Guy was using one of those Two-Shotting Crossbow-Turrets and Wolf-Traps. Could just kite him to death in the span of like a minute.

Of course though, that relied entirely on me having the RNG-dropped Blueprint and the Cells to buy it just before that fight on that run.

...How often does the Blacksmith appear anyway?

So, November "as the absolute earliest" for a fix? What a joke. I would have preferred they delayed the game and offered a quality product like Team Cherry did than taking my money before telling me that maybe in three months I could play for what I paid.

I am crossing my fingers for a refund.

Wow I hope I can get a refund as well for the Switch. Pre-Ordered it due to the discount but, reading about the performance I'd rather get this on PS4, even if it being portable would be nice.

This really throws a kink into preferring indies on Switch by default now.

Wow, that's pretty big of them in that post to admit those issues. Maybe there's some kind of fix in the interim (like restarting the Switch completely, maybe there's a cache thing, whatever).
It's big of them to admit their game has performance problems anyone who plays it can see with their own eyes? lol

We should have higher standards than this from game developers. If they wanted to be open and transparent they could have posted that yesterday, before tons of people bought the Switch version.

Saying they won't be getting out improvements til November for the Switch version is ridiculous. They should have prioritized this version to begin with considering how massive the sales of indies have been on Switch.

Oh come on dude, you're acting like the game is broken. Don't be so dramatic.

I'm thinking it's the same thing. I remember first firing it up and thinking there were (very) occasional drops, but in my most recent run it almost consistently seemed to be lower than 60.

Still having arseloads of fun though, freaking love this game. Motion Twin seem to be super responsive regarding input into fixes, so I reckon a fix won't be far away (but because of the eShop turnaround it'd have to be at least 1-2 weeks :/ ).

Turns out it's going to be 12 weeks at least.

somehow the game reminds me of an Amiga game, i don´t know why .-)
If you told me Psygnosis was back from the dead and developed this game, I wouldn't think twice.

Turns out it's going to be 12 weeks at least.
Yeah, I noticed. Not that it matters for some games, how long did it take for Gungeon to get a patch (despite me still getting slowdown in certain areas)?

If you honestly think the game is broken, then you should get a refund. If it's broken, it shouldn't really matter how long it takes them to fix it. If it were weeks instead of months, why wouldn't you still get a refund?

The fact is that they released a game with performance they're happy with and most customers seem happy with. They also explained why November is the earliest for any significant improvements. I'm not really sure what else you expect them to do in this situation.

The progression is confusing me a bit.

If I find a blueprint and get to the collector, will that item automatically start randomly spawning in the world or do I have to craft it with cells first?

You need to "buy" it from him with cells before it starts appearing.

Funny because I only met him after beating Bridge Guy and not once since.

The blacksmith, where you can improve your odds of dropping + or ++ items, appears after bosses. The blacksmith apprentice, who lets you upgrade the quality of your current weapons and re roll abilities, shows up in between each level.

Hm I wonder if it changed in 1.0 and I just didn't notice (or if he only always spawns after the beating the game or some other milestone). If they aren't actually there after each level initially then my mistake.

Clarifies things.

Not one for nuance, eh?

It's either glowing praise or telling them to fuck off? I think there is a happy middle ground here.

The fact is the Switch version of this game will likely be the best selling version. They should have done everything they could to make that version the best it could be. Instead they've chosen to tell fans they might make some improvements months from now.

Sorry but you've totally twisted their release statement - try and read it again. They're a small team and they said that, while they were aware of performance dips, they still had enough fun playing it on switch that they thought it was good to release. Now that it's out, they realize performance could be better, and they're giving an honest estimate about how long it would take a team of their size to improve it. You've invented a scenario where some malicious dev team duped you, and that isn't the case.

Edit: for those that didn't read their response about switch performance, read it here before you jump to crazy conclusions like this.

I'm so tempted to pull the trigger on this as I love the gorgeous animation and satisfying-looking combat, but I've never clicked with roguelites. The gameplay videos just make it look so damn fun, though.

I wonder if it will come to Xbox Game Pass...

Just went ahead and bought it for Switch. The footage just looked so good and I love how much polish the game has with the beautiful animations and such. It just looks like theres so much to experiement with and I can see myself playing this for hours once I get the hang of it.

Tried a new save yesterday, I feel they toned down the difficulty significantly, or maybe I was just lucky with the drop and scrolls. Breezed my way to the stilted village, even the first boss on the bridge didn't get me to use my potion. Just 1 week before, whenever I managed to get to that boss, I was always doing chip damage, and it was always a hard journey making there.

I have to say I had more fun with this single run than any of my previous runs during early access.

So just to be sure I understand correctly since the mutators stuff was not in the game the last time I played...

You get a free one between each levels and they last throughout the run until you die?

Are they always the same? Do you unlock new ones?

Three free mutations - you can pay a fee to re roll. They stay for the run. You can unlock new ones.

I've completed the daily run yesterday at 1AM, got my reward with the message saying next reward in 4 daily victory, did it again after the reset, and now I just completed again today (2 AM so right after reset) and it still says 4 victories needed for next reward ugh.

Fun game.

I think i've gravitated toward my preferred loadout/playstyle.

Getting two versions of the sawblades in my L2/R2 slots along with the freeze ability as one of my primaries has carried me a great deal considering i've done less than 20 runs so far

My mutations are to reduce the cooldown on your items, life steal when killing an enemy and +30% HP.

It has allowed me to play at a slower pace, keep my distance and not have to get too reckless.

Did it again after a full reboot and still showing 4 more completion required, Switch version glitch?

You call it twisting, I call it cutting through some of their PR talk here. What dev is going to say "we hit our release deadline and didn't want to turn away those sweet Switch bucks, so we pushed it out the door"? Saying they felt it was fun enough is a nice way of saying they thought enough people wouldn't complain so that meant they could ship it as is.

The fact that they actually said in that statement "we play tested the Switch version" gives me the impression they farmed out the porting to Switch, which to me is a cardinal sin.

I also don't appreciate the after the fact "oh, you expected a smooth framerate on Switch" talk. The bottom line is they wanted to hit their release date, so they did.

Played this for about an hour today on the Switch. Some impressions and a few questions for everyone:

  • I really like it. The gameplay loop is very addicting and the combat is crunchy and satisfying. Any type of frame rate issue that exists has not impacted my enjoyment of the game (at least for me) up until the first boss. I get the feeling that with a shitload of enemies on screen in later levels, it may potentially struggle a bit. Definitely a lot going on at times.
  • I almost took down the Consierge first try, almost entirely by button mashing. I did have a blade turret that helped chip away health, and a legit set of dual blades that dropped a bomb on impact, but I was up in his face most of the time. I guess that is the exact opposite of how you are supposed to handle him lol.
  • Some questions - It says I have unlocked 10 weapons, but when I die, I keep going back to that basic lame ass sword. I imagine I have to purchase the weapons with cells? Does it then give me the option to use them if I want on each playthrough? I guess I'm just confused on what is permanent and what is not. Finally, where can I find the ability to use a random weapon on each playthrough? Any help would be appreciated.

Some of us have been here since early access watching the devs release exhaustive patch notes, chock full of game changing mechanics, many that they clearly indicate were suggested by their own community. They've been at this for years, and have demonstrated plenty of transparency. Sorry you jumped on the train here, but Motion Twin is the shit - we have plenty of reason to believe them.

If you don't have time to give them benefit of the doubt, great! See you in November or later when they patch it. You're doing no favors to yourself acting like you're "cutting through pr talk" of an 11 person dev team.

Man that Switch framerate is really not great. I think it's worse when docked.

But I do have PC for when I want to play it smoothly, bought the Switch version for portable, after all.

there is an upgrade that gives you a random melee weapon at the start, look for it in the list. (there is also one for shield and bow)

the concierge is in fact easier when you just stay next to him and just roll through his attacks. when he does the red aura, get a little distance and then, go near him again

Basically you find blueprints and then pay Cells to add them to the random pool. You can buy an upgrade that gives you a random weapon instead of the starting sword and shield. Also interesting to note - I don't believe legendary weapon drops take into account blueprints; you can get an item you haven't unlocked yet.

Ok so it says I have the Bloodsword. I have to pay Cells to have it appear my playthrough? Can I just select it from the beginning of a playthrough?
