The Otter Media companies have built large networks of talented creators and influencers and have deep libraries of video content. The Otter Media portfolio includes Ellation, a transformative entertainment company and home of industry-leading platforms Crunchyroll and VRV. Crunchyroll is a SVOD service that gives millions of fans access to a vast library of anime content. VRV aggregates and distributes content from multiple over-the-top content providers, including Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth.

Pretty sure they already owned a big part of it, now they're just buying the rest. Doubt much will change.

This was always expected. I imagine that as well as continuing as usual AT&T will offer Crunchyroll as part of a larger package of SVOD platforms along with Filmstruck, Boomerang, DC Universe, etc, etc and a possible WB streaming platform too for a single price.

This seems to be where all this is heading.

If this means that the crunchyroll servers are going to stop being complete ass, then I'm for it.

Isn't that what VRV is already, a collection of streaming networks for one price? You can't have that price get too high and include too many things or it stops becoming a value for people, though.

Funimation is also a channel of VRV and they got bought by Sony last year. I wonder if there'll be any affect on that?

But they still charge you extra for channels like Shudder, which is bullshit. But at least you can download them on the app and watch them later.

True. It's all about whether AT&T will look at this as a complimentary service to their cable packages or something to potentially replace them in time.

I can see them offering the likes of VRV, the WarnerMedia 'hubs' like DC Universe and HBO Now for a premium bundle price and/or just having them as 'add ons' to potential existing platform much like Amazon is now.

Thank goodness! I may subscribe. That makes sense now that I think about it. You can download subbed Funi shows, but you weren't able to a few weeks ago. Thanks, Ridley.

The first thing a company does when it takes over is restructure... then to cover the costs of acquisition/etc they tend to raise the price. Hope that's not the case. VRV is to our family what Netflix is to most others. We probably watch 20+ hours worth of content in this household a week on it.

I recently got vrv so I hope they don't change it.
It's kind of crazy if you're interested in even just one or two things outside of crunchyroll. Especially since VRV subscription still includes Crunchyroll manga.

I thought Nyaa was dead. I've heard tales the Yakuza nuked them

Not to mention who likes supporting anime producers when we can just pirate amirite?

/s if that wasn't blindingly obvious.
