Outside of some lighting differences and the absence of some minor details it seems to hold up really well!

Switch version has perceptibly worse resolution and worse textures, but yeah, on the whole, it's a reasonable and acceptable compromise I'd say,

Looks good enough for me on the switch.

As an owner of a PS4 pro and switch I'll probably go with the switch version.

It's just a matter of "will I finish this game if I buy it?" And the chances are just way higher with the switch version that I'll find the time to finish it.

I expected a major difference to be honest since obviously PS4 got a better hardware specs. The only thing I noticed is the difference in image quality and that's it

I enjoyed what I played of it in portable mode earlier. Very pleased with it at first glance.

Not a big fan of the visual style. There is a distinct lack of any proper black values. Very flat looking

Looks about the same to me. Then again I was one of those that didn't care much about Xenoblade 2 in handheld mode.

I'm almost positive it is not native res on Switch handheld.
That said, yes, it looks fine. Switch is where I am getting it.

Certainly does. One of the concerns from that Switch video before was that the textures would be completely butchered. They don't seem anywhere near as bad as said video would have led us to believe.

I'm not sure how, the image quality difference is significant.
Yeah in gameplay scenes the visual quality difference is discernible. A lot of cutscenes in this video which doesn't show the differences. I will download the demo on Switch & PS4 tonight and will check the difference for myself without YouTube bad compression.

Watched on my phone at first and was like ehh pretty close. On my computer now and yeah, huge IQ loss. But pretty respectable effort.

Reasonably similar, with notable differences in IQ, draw distance, density, etc. Overall holds up well, which makes sense given the game's visuals.

Had to laugh at the segment at the 4 minute mark or so though Giant tits cover screen, then pan up to the actual character. Shamless.

That looks really good on the Switch! Performance holds up as well. The little console that could.

They seem to be judging by the comments
Edit: Nope both are 30 apparently

Nah, only PC version is 60fps. Though I don't know if it's maxed at 60 or can allow higher framerates, you never know with Japanese titles.

It looks really good on the Switch compared to the first trailer, I'm impressed with the port.

I'm debating on playing the game on PC (60 fps) or Ps4 (I want the physical edition and framerate in this kind of games is not as important), but it seems the kind of game that you can buy on the Switch and have the same experience as in other consoles.

Even if there are difference in IQ, is not a big deal and it didn't affect the integrity of the visual identity of the game. Switch it is for me

Big difference in IQ, smaller difference in LoD and lighting. Now we needs to see if Switch performance holds. Looks like a good port so far.

Pardon the shitty YouTube compression, but the Switch version seems to have made a considerable improvement compared to the last trailer (which was released not even two months ago). The jump in quality is quite insane, honestly.

Old trailer on the left, demo on the right.

It's cool that SEGA was able to make a sequel to a niche PS3 game look like a more polished PS3 era game. Feels like people ask for that all the time, that they're ok with more niche titles looking simpler if it has a strong art style.

The comparison looks super close, probably 1080p or close on both, but maybe lacking AA

That SEGA announced they were porting it to switch without knowing if it would run it and that the port was running late was pretty concerning, but it turns out considerably better than it sounded early on

Textures, LOD and IQ are really apparent. Shadow resolution is also noticeably worse.

I think the biggest offender here is that the distance looks extremely bare in comparison.
