Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Combat Tactics

Looks better? How so? TLOU2 basically looked prerendered in comparison to this. The character geometry and the animations and how they blend together and the casual interaction with the environment while moving around is on a whole new level.
I'd say that the gameplay looks about the same - third person crouching girl kills soldiers and wields a bow and knife - There is less stealth in TLOU2 though but that could just be because Ellie was spotted and hunted in that trailer, even Uncharted has stealth now, I'm sure TLOU2 will have plenty. As for the looks again, Shadow doesn't even look better than Rise in my opinion. Can't explain it well, there is just some kind of stiffness going on in the animations which wasn't there in Rise, the triggers when a new animation kicks in is too apparent, or something. The new devs doesn't seem to be on the same level as Crystal imo. I'll still buy it because I'm a Tomb Raider fan but based on what I've seen so far I don't see myself 100-percent it like I did with Rise.

Im not shilling. Im simply saying that even though Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks good and I will undoubtly enjoy it like I enjoyed TR and Rise, TLOU 2 looks a generation better in terms of graphics and animation. Gameplay looks about the same.

Really, calling me names too? Yes, the derail part was a big mistake on me and I should not have done it. However, there's no need to call me a tool.
The thing is pretty much everybody who has seen TLOU2 videos from E3 think it looks spectacular. I just has absolutely nothing to do with a Tomb Raider thread other than to derail and fill the thread with pointless replies (like mine). If both games were coming out at the same time then maybe a comparison would be relevant.
What would you consider this TR video?

The last one before TLOU2 that I remember was from U4 and it showed Drake and Sully in the jeep after the marketplace part with the many people. Now I didn't had the footage up for comparison while I was playing it on my bro's PS4 Pro when I borrowed it but I would say it's about the same. :)
The very first reveal obviously wasn't ingame at all, some people did believe it at that time though.
Bruh... Unless you know something I don't he said one post about a comparison to a game which is basically in the same genre. So I don't understand where the negative attitude is coming from. At times it looks stunning and then in the very next scene it has an almost cartoony look to Lara. The inconsistency is weird, the jungle and foliage are great but some of the character models not so much.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was my GOTY when it came out. I find it a top 5 best looking game this gen. It's the first game I have really did 100% completion on and couldn't get enough. They say that Shadow is almost double what Rise was, so that has go me super excited.
I was so cheesed after encountering a save glitch while playing the first game 90% of the way through and I said that I'd never touch the series. However up until that point, I immensely enjoyed the first game.
I have yet to play the second one so hopefully when I get back into the series, I don't come across similar game breaking save glitches.

I honestly thought Rise had pretty great stealth, just the simple addition of verticality when climbing up on stuff made it feel fresh, but yeah they could've gone further with it no doubt. For me it was the bow and arrows that made the game, I 100-percented it and had it on my GOTY list. I really just wish they had arching arrows, they just flew straight like a bullet, same thing in Horizon, don't know why some devs don't think about those details.

Yeah its what threw me off about the game. At first I said it was maybe the graphics being worse than ROTTR but now I can see, its the face. I think they tried to make her look older, but she looks almost like a completely different person.
This Tomb Raider is GOLD, its finished. People played it at Events already.
Can we stop with the derailing in here? So many triggered TLoU fans here, it gets annoying.
But anyway back to topic.
Really have to admit that this looks better than before but still not a fan of this side characters like Jonah. Liked TR games more when Lara was all about Solo and badass.
Still not a day1 for me sadly. Spyro has priority for me. Lets see how reviews will turn out.

...Okay.. So let show you where you fail in logic by giving you an example. Sonic Team Racing is a thing. When people discuss it, do you NOT expect people to bring up Mario Kart? As I said before, its a game in the same genre. Also, you need to give me your definition of "shitting on" something because in my opinion, he didnt post anything negative about the game (which by the way, that 1 day ban was completely uncalled for and 100% a premature action). He admitted he thought one looked better yet had interest in buying both. I get having the frustration of games being compared, but taking it out on one soul because you heard it from many isnt enough grounds.
Same here, especially the shotgun in TR2013, that thing was awesome.
TR is my guilty pleasure this gen. They've all been pretty good romps, even as their narratives consistently fall below their ambitions. Seeing that this one is more clearly helmed by Deus Ex's Montreal team gets me a lil more excited for the hubs and open-level design they've been refining. That said, combat has always been the least interesting part of the reboot. A little more Batman/Predator vibes could definitely help us feel empowered without feeling like we're Ramboing our way through history.

There's a reason I'm asking ppl to stop coz I know what happens next after these comparison starts, thread gets derailed and pointless debate ruins whole thread.

This is a significant upgrade from the last game combat wise. Judging from the video, I hope this would be the modern Assassin's Creed that we'll never get. I like that everything (tombs, wildlife, and Laura herself) is even more dangerous than the previous games.
That's off putting. I hope the stealth is optional, otherwise will just wait until its in a deep, deep sale. I don't buy TR games for stealth.
I have been thinking anyway that if there's not significant combat improvements (from Rise) and much more elaborate tombs I was just going to wait for sale anyway, so hoping for good reviews on this one. The stealth will just factor in what sort of sale it gets bought in, LOL.
Seriously this looks soooo good. Been replaying RotTR for the last couple of days and this series is one of the best this gen. Can't wait!
