Someone asked if ingame character faces look the same as in the character creator many pages back. Apparently, a lot of people have complained about this back when the game launched on consoles: https://www.gamesradar.com/its-not-...eir-characters-looked-better-at-creation-too/

Here's how it looks like on PC:

Character creator: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...73981290580803590/582010_20180801002900_1.png
Closest closeup I could set up ingame: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...73981375058411550/582010_20180801001636_1.png

So, yeah, looks like that aspect isn't different on PC. I think the primary reason it looks so much better in the character creator is the lighting setup.

Yeah, thanks for this - I suspected as much, but now we have confirmation.

You can still get it for only a couple bucks more from GMG and save money compared to buying directly on Steam.

So I snagged two copies for my girlfriend and I. These two videos:

give me at least a little hope that we will be able to run the game on our 1050 Tis on our 900p monitors with maybe medium settings at a decent framerate. The biggest concerns are our CPUs, especially hers since she's using an A8-5500 (I've got an i5-3330). Userbenchmark puts her CPU within about 12% of an FX-6300 in single core performance, but it only has four cores instead of the FX's six. We'll see how it goes I guess. We have always played every Monster Hunter game together, but since we only have one PS4 we really couldn't do that until now. She's been the one playing the PS4 version while I've opted to wait until the PC release.

That channel is pretty good for seeing how different systems will run the game. Even a 750 Ti will run the game at 1080p between 40-60 fps on lowest settings, and the lowest settings are nothing to sneeze at visually.

I just upgraded from a 750 to a 1050Ti and I've only got an i5 4440 and 8 GB of RAM. I'm pretty confident the game will be very playable at some mixture of settings.

What was the total on GMG with the voucher? Voidu and Fanatical both have the game at the same price at about $48 if anyone is interested.

Got my key from GMG! preload when? File size? Can't believe I'm finally getting to play this. Going in pretty blind outside watching a gaijin hunter weapon tutorial video.

Somewhere.
Preordered, and I am so excited! I probably going to end up looking at some stuff for the ranged weapons, since I might want to finally check out there more.

Based on this video the PC version looks on par with the PS4 Pro but with one exception. The textures are lower resolution on PC even at max settings and it's really noticeable when seen side by side, but from what I can see it seems to only affect the characters and not the world itself.

This is crazy! I don't know which settings Pro has got in that video but apparently it would be possible to achieve a stable 60 fps on Pro with medium textures and less volumetric lighting, bloom, blur and shadow detail. If Capcom were to fix that I would not need to rebuy the game again. Or has the fps improved on Pro since release?

Has there been info on how they handle all the post launch content that came for PS4? Will it all be there at launch? Also I assume it will be based on the latest PS4 patch.

Launch PC Version is Launch PS4 version. PC updates will be behind the PS4 version for now, unknown if they will sync up at some point in the future.

I can barely contain my excitement anymore, even though I expected this game to come out in October or something like that, but it being so close to release, phew. I spend roughly 700 - 800 hours on MH4U and a lot on MHG, so I'm really curious to see how much playtime this will bring me. I spent whole nights with people I met randomly on the 3ds and all we had was slow chat or quick messages. I'm really looking forward to hunt with randoms or my friends and being able to use voice chat. I hope I'll get my key in time.

I do get a laugh when I see comments that MHW looks like a PS2 game...I wonder how many people actually remember what PS2 games look like, because this is what PS2 Monster Hunter looked like lol:

PS2 originals were perhaps not impressive for PS2, but Portable 3rd was pretty nice for PSP and of course 3DS ones are pretty impressive for 3DS.

The talk is about how game holds up against platform it is on. Previous games were more on par.

p.s.
I also somehow prefer how old games look because "old graphics" are more easy on eyes, thats subjective of course.

Also new Radeon drivers for MHW available now:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-18-8-1

  • Up to 5% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 on the Radeon™ RX Vega 64 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.6.1 at 1920x1080 (1080p)
  • Up to 6% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 on the Radeon™ RX 580 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.6.1 at 1920x1080 (1080p)

That's fair. My post was in response to a lot of comments in the IGN livestream from a week or two ago that were literally saying "this looks like a PS2 game", which I found to be pretty ridiculous.

I am sure this has been asked, but when does this go Live Thursday? Is it worldwide release time?

Came to ask the very same, hope someone enlightens us.

I got my key, ill be there if the release is tonight 00:00.

Also I know this is not popular opinion but im kinda happy there isn't preload, my hype always makes me preload and then unpacking is way longer than an uncrypted download...

It hasn't left top 5 sellers since pre-orders started, looking for for the Steam release. And it probably sold a truckload more on WeGame. I wonder what's gonna be the concurrent record for this weekend. 90k or so?

I know there's already benchmarks and videos out there but just sharing that on my 1080Ti and 6700k @4,4, I get 4k and just under 60 with the Volumetric setting off and the scaling set to 'Variable-prioritize framerate'.

I hope there is preload. I work all day and it would be nice if it could download while I am out, so it would be ready to play when I get home.

I'm really excited for this! I already have my GMG key activated on Steam. Now the real question is, what weapon will I go with? I've heard great things about the Insect Glaive, so I think I might go with that. I kind of want to run with a Great Sword build too as I always wanted to, but that build was generally too hard to work with in the original PSP titles.

I'm a longtime GS main. It's definitely one of the biggest noob traps, so I know a lot of people have a bad experience with it from taking the wrong approach to combat using it. If you decide to go that way there are a lot of great tutorials out there that can help.
