"Recoil feels good" they say. Well it does feel good indeed, dunno if I would call it recoil though.
Played probably 30 hours of the first and enjoyed it. Just picked up the second one for PC, looking forward to giving it a whirl. Just need to get some players to hang with!

If you are planning on leveling alts, go ahead and buy exotics for them from Xur. Easy way to bump up your light since his gear is 270 if your main is at that point.
I feel so slow compared to you guys but I've only managed a few hours a night...just hit level 15 and hope to hit 20 tonight. Been trying to focus on story missions, with the occasional public events in between. I've only done like three or four of the adventures so I have a lot of stuff left to do after I hit level cap. :)
After trying unsuccessfully to get the Actium War Rig for my Titan all week it's nice that Xur had that shit
Take your time and play the game at your own pace :) What you don't want to do is overplay the game, especially when you aren't enjoying it, just to try and get to the end game. Right now I'm at the point where there is literally nothing left for me to do other than Crucible or the Prestige Raid
Yeah I'm definitely not anywhere near the point where the treadmill is burning me out; I'm just having fun shooting and looting. I wish that the loot wasn't 90% tokens, but eh. I think for me the primary motivation is getting caught up and catching up my other friends that are playing. Some are already on that light grind, some are still level 8 or so. It's still early days yet. :)
Nothing yet. That is likely coming back in the form of Prestige modes for Strikes, Adventures and Lost sectors based on what they said in the weekly update
Unless you count Heroic Public Events, there really isn't anything to replace heroic strikes. I hope that Bungie brings that back soon. And gimme some heroic lost sector too.
Prestige nightfalls are new
In D1 there was just ONE nightfall and they would update the difficulty with each new game update.
They said they want you to be able to equip all four exotic emotes
so I horded 16 (17 actually) 305 Man O'Wars. LOL
Gonna infuse each to Merciless for all my characters, Shock & Awe is already upped.

Worth noting, that it won't be limted to exotic emotes. They just used those as examples.

So from what I've read you can't change appearance after character creation.
That's seems so dumb for a game like this. Especially since you can't actually change the viewing angle during creation.
Guess I just have to be extra careful when I create my extra characters. Not sure if I want to do another awoken female, or a human female for Warlock. I do want to have an exo at some point, so I'd make my Titan one probably.

I assume they are just going to unlock the whole dpad and let you equip whatever emotes you want to each arrow.
They should allow you to do eight emotes by letting and up and a side press together be a different emote too.
Even better they should let a long press on the DPAD bring up an emote selector which allows you to use any emote that you own (not just the ones in your small inventory).

Xur has nothing for me again. The only exotics I'm missing are Lucky Raspberry, ST0MP-EE5, and Legend of Acrius + upgrade. I wish Bungie would give Xur more stuff to sell.
Alternatively, maybe have him give out a quest each week with the reward being a choice of one of the Exotics he is selling at max Power Level. The quest could send you out into Lost Sectors on the planet to gather items of interest for Xur / The Nine. That would make both Xur and Lost Sectors a bit more compelling.

Hey DestinyERA - quick question for someone who never played the original. I've got a friend group of 4 on PC. Would this be a good game to group play, even though certain missions (I think it's strikes?) are limited to 3?

In terms of 4 you can do pvp or the raid. Other wise you will be leaving one out for patrol, strikes, and story mission.

If the game interests you, I'd consider breaking off into two groups of two within your friends group to run the mentioned activities. My friends & I have this issue as well and when there's too many of us online, we usually split up into equal groups ingame but remain in the same chat.
Also, the raid requires 6, so if you do decide to get the game, keep those 2 extra players in mind when you get to the raid.
I don't know what to say other than I guess I expect more. Snipers are shotguns had more ammo and did more damage as special weapons in D1. In HoW they buffed shotguns in PVE and they felt great. I think they should feel at least at that level now that they're in the power slot, but they don't. Snipers did more damage and carried 20 something rounds as special weapons. Now they too are in the power slot and they're worse in both categories. Swords don't get nearly enough ammo reserves total or pick up enough per brick. I couldn't disagree more about grenade launchers. They don't carry that much more ammo than rockets and definitely don't do a good job at zone control IMO. Hell, there's a thread on reddit bitching about grenade launchers at least once a week.
These power weapons should be equal. Why would I ever choose the other 5 types of weapons when rockets are the clear winner across the board most of the time? (Well, two rocket launchers anyway. The rest of them need love like the rest of the power weapons.)
How reliable is that source? I like the Awoken backstory and would be thrilled if this were true but eh seems sketchy.
I rather they WEREN'T equal and instead have their own situational niches and uses. So that you are encouraged to change what in the slot as opposed to just leaving Sins of the Past and calling it a day like I do
And to be fair many power weapons DO fit into certain niches but since its all tied to power ammo like you said you mostly just go the path of least resistance with rockets. The times I find myself playing around with other weapons in the power slot is when im leveling my other characters and based on my experience all the power weapons work well enough including grenade launchers but I agree that Rockets just can be leveraged in just about any situation on average. And THATS the problem.
So some solutions could be
Shotguns - More reserve Ammo and build them for marathon enounters or maybe even missions that have tight spaces and require more movement. This type of content would be less suited for rockets.
Snipers - Precision damage boosts in PvE. Snipers actually do competitive boss damage (see datto's Calus DPS video) but thats not good enough. The requirement, time and skill required to lend consecutive precision hits should be rewarded over just firing some rockets. Also more Ammo reserves
Grendade Launchers - So my idea here is to double down on secondary effects and crowd control. Grenade launchers should be TACTICAL! Many of them already have Sticky grenades, Proxy Grenades, Flashbangs etc.. Double down on that. Add DoT fire ignition. Defense reduction of enemies in PvE, Sticky Pulse explosions, Etc etc etc. Doubling down on tactical use could be very effective for grenade launchers and make them prized on longer engagements like any upcoming arena battles.
Linear Fusion - Dont have many ideas for this one but I'd love to hear what people can come up with. Maybe damage bonuses on Armored Targets and guaranteed penetration no matter what. So cabal shields, tanks and lines of enemies all take bonus damage. The ultimate brute force weapon.
I'm having some weird issues on PC. I can only run in fullscreen mode if I want to avoid constant framerate drops to 50-60. The framerate is all over the place and the game is super choppy. Fullscreen, it's 97fps constantly and perfectly smooth. The problem is that when running fullscreen, I'm unable to alt-tab to anything else. There are occasional freezes, and I can't alt-tab to any other program. I can only ctrl-alt-delete and sign out; even trying to go to task manager doesn't work. When running windowed, I can alt-tab just fine, but the framerate problems are intolerable.
Anyone know how to fix the framerate issues that happen in any mode other than fullscreen? Or, failing that, what may be causing the problems with alt-tab in fullscreen mode?

Well the Voice Actor is listed in the IMDB so at the very least she is back and thats accurate

Lore Wise the Queens Brother is alive on Mars and there are a bunch of videos where it seems clear that she is still alive somewhere form both bungie interviews and Grimoire entries

Here's some lore to read before the weekend. This is one of my favorite stories from the game, and I was happy to see that part of it showed up during the Gunslinger quest in Destiny 2. #FridayLore
Ghost Fragment: Fallen

Okay, okay, I'll tell the story about that one Fallen.
It didn't happen like that. We didn't, you know, do anything actively - no handshake, no icy stare of grudging mutual respect. I don't even know which hand you would shake. Do they shake hands? It must be complicated.
Anyway, it was like this. I was on the Moon. I cracked a Hive structure near Mare Imbrium**, looking for a Shrine, and they just - swarmed. Ranks and ranks and ranks of Thrall, pouring out between the columns, but the columns were Knights, and all the shadows behind them rose up hissing sorcery.
Of course I ran.
I had a line of egress and while yes it was full of Thrall I had a backup too. I went upslope. Took cover in the shadow of a crashed Phaeton. Emptied my machine gun, ducked down to reload, and saw her at the other end of the hull, killing Thrall: a Fallen in Exile colors, bannered in the marks of a Baron, though the flags were claw-torn and stained with Hive ash. She was alone. I think she must have lost her crew.
I didn't really have time to shoot her and she didn't really have time to shoot me so we just went back to killing Hive. Knights pushed me out into the open and back up the range to a high stone saddle in the shadow of an old interferometry array. It was good ground so she came up there too.
For a while we just killed things which is hard to make interesting in a story so I'll pass it over.
At the end the Wizards came. I climbed the array to get an angle on them and she fell back to the base of the antennae where she broke her swords off in a Knight. I saw that happen and I don't know if I can tell you how I felt. She was another living thing with a mind I could understand and she hadn't howled at me or tried to eat my Ghost. I cheered when the Knight went down.
When I came down, empty on all guns, she was slumped against a bulkhead staring at me with all her tiny black eyes. Ether leaking out of her like smoke. The Knight hadn't died easily. Downslope the last Wizard moved like fire behind another line of Thrall.
I looked at her and wondered how many innocent human lives she'd ended on those broken blades.
She did the strangest thing then. Took the last shock pistol from her bandolier and threw it between us, as if to offer it. When I went to pick it up she tried to knife me, but she was slow, and when I broke her arms and opened her throat she didn't seem surprised.
To this day I wonder if she hated me, or wanted to make me kill her, or just felt she should spare me the choice.
I did kill a few Thrall with that pistol.
**Mare Imbrium was a place on the Moon where thousands of Guardians died trying to take back the Moon from Crota. One of the more notable deaths during that battle was a Defender Titan called Wei Ning. Ning was also the catalyst for Eris Morn and her fireteam attempting the first raid against Crota in the Hellmouth.

Everyone have converted over and we are now Gold Era Warriors.
We actually have 1 spot that we just opened up for someone that is really active in NA. Like everyone else, we have a lot of "sleepers" waiting for DLC.
I rolled a Warlock up through the Farm, and I'm not sure I like it very much compared to the Hunter. Much more floaty, and the jumps are inferior to the standard double jump. I had some trouble navigating in certain spaces without the superior jump.
Haven't made a Titan yet, but I'm probably just gonna continue on with the Hunter for now. I don't necessarily want to do the intro again, even though I know how to blitz through it now in 15-20 minutes.

Yeah its a jarring change
You need to long press jumps but you get help from some of the upgrades
Mainly Burst Glide (that makes you jump like a titan kind of) which is what I use the most and Blink (which is the speedy teleport) which gives a much needed burst of speed
I don't remember how it was in D1 but are there any large drawbacks to playing with people leveled higher than you in PvE? A friend of mine can't play as much as me so we're trying to keep the main story in sync but I might level up a bit more than him due to Adventures and PvP. Can we still run together without any major loss of exp (for him more than me)?
