http://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/08/04/doom-nintendo-switch-team-opens-up-about-their-dream-port-/

We recently got a chance to visit the fine folks over at Panic Button to tour their lovely studio and we've got to admit, the passion for games was incredibly contagious. One thing that was interesting though is this idea of that "impossible title." No one thought we'd ever see a Warframe Nintendo Switch port, nevermind the expansive Wolfenstein II. But as the list for the Nintendo library continues to grow impressively, we had to ask: What would their next dream "impossible" game be if they could pick any franchise.

When speaking with Craig Galley (Founder & Technical Director), D. Michael Traub (Founder & technical Director), and Andy Boggs (Technical Director), their answer was surprisingly in-sync: Horizon Zero Dawn. Though obviously that won't happy (though stranger things have happened) because that incredible game is a Sony-owned property, it was pretty interesting to dig into their heads a little bit as to why that title - and why that was such a knee-jerk answer.

Oh man, could you IMAGINE? Obviously Sony would absolutely never allow this, but that'd be one hell of a feat to accomplish I'd say. If anyone could, it'd likely be them at this point.

Here's a counter question; what's YOUR dream game for Panic Button to port to Switch?

Ninja Gaiden 1/2
GTAV
AC4

Honestly give them anything. They are gods of the downport to Switch.

I'd play Horizon at 360p/20fps on Switch :D

Yea, I don't think they could make horizon happen even if it was third party. It's on a different level from doom.

They got ambition! Other than the obvious that it's a First party title, but I can't even begin to imagine the amount of stuff that would need to be cut to get it to run on it.

Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, or Monster Hunter World would be among mine.

I'm more confident in Panic Button pulling these off than Iron Galaxy. Iron Galaxy only has Skyrim under their belt on Switch and I can't really recall any amazing ports of theirs. Haven't Iron Galaxy had more duds than hits in their... "port"folio?

That is definitely not the answer I expected them to fire back. I thought the report would come back "Injustice 2," or "Overwatch." Talk about something out of left field.

Downporting the Crysis games would still be a technical marvel, no? But for games I would actually want to play, probably GTAV, which I hope is more of a when as opposed to if

To naysayers: Maybe trust the studio that has actually done this when they say its possible. (Obviously I don't mean in the IP sense) But I dunno. I think the Switch actually has a ton of room to grow in this regard, its just that not a lot of resources or talent besides Panic Button is thrown at this problem.

I'm very much into seeing how ports adapted to weaker consoles go (the Vita has a real slick collection of these) and man I would just love to see what they would have to do to make a playable port of this happen.

I feel like Ubisoft's Milan office has shown the most promise. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a game that I can show to almost anyone, and it will impress them, visually. I took so many damn screenshots while I was playing. The Snowdrop engine compliments the Switch's spec beautifully, and those developers showed us what talent, hard work, and a lot of polish can do on the Switch!

It wouldn't run

Considering doom and wolf 2 made the jump at 1/4 of the pixel count and < 1/2 the frame rate lol

I guess a 360p15fps port might be possible

Sorry, you're saying that DOOM and Wolfenstein run under 15 fps? Edit: Ah, you edited your post.

Considering Doom barely runs on the thing this has no chance at all. I don't even think they could downgrade it enough to get it running.

What are y'all smoking? I played the shit out of DOOM on PS4, and I've played several hours on Switch and have a ton of fun with it there. I think to say that it "barely runs" is a bit hyperbolic.

Can't speak for Injustice 2, but Overwatch is one of those games that looks a very easy port (i've seen that game running on PCs with an hardware comparable to the Switch) somehow made it look difficult by the developers.

The reason why is not there yet is probably because Blizzard can't keep up 4 versions of the game. (i don't know why)

It's become a bit of a stealth port-begging thread, but it'd be absolutely impressive to see a game like HZD on a Switch (unless it's too compromised - and I do think both Doom and Wolf 2 are way too compromised for my liking).

The Mass Effect trilogy would be ideal for me. That wouldn't be super difficult for them but those games and Overwatch would make me pretty happy as far as ports go. I doubt either happens though

Is the Switch even more powerful than a PS3? Im not even sure it is, let alone be anywhere close to a PS4.

...you're serious?

And the world is more interactive compared to Horizon Zero Dawn. Someone did a look at the two and how each game handles the player interactions with each game world.

There always has to be that one guy who brings up BotW any time Horizon is mentioned in anything. It's getting really old.

No thanks no Horizon, i tried it was hyped before it released but it couldn't hold my attention (i thought combat would be more like monster hunter my fault) so i dropped it.
Wish they would do a FFXIII trilogy or Baten Kaitos 1 and 2.
I'm more interested in remasters or remakes from a gen or two ago than most upcoming games, couldn't name a current gen title if i wanted.......ok maybe KH3.

I probably wouldn't touch a Horizon port considering how downgraded it would have to be to run on Switch,

I can't really think of a graphically intensive third party game that I'm dying for a port of on Switch.
