How much of the script do you have to change so that it's no longer legally Gunn script

This right here is a fucking man, a man of actual principle. I'd like to think The Rock would do the same although he's faaaar better off than Batista $$$ wise so he'd stand to lose a whole lot less
lol please. The Rock said the only reason he's not running for president because he's too busy the next couple of years.

I don't begrudge the guy for sticking to his multimillion dollar movie star career over a doomed presidential campaign, but it made pretty clear to me that his drive is in making money.

Notice the forum you're on.

I get that, but sometimes noticing the bubble is still a reality check.

Love Dave lots and I fully believe him. In his brief acting career he's already made Disney, Marvel, Bond, and Blade Runner money. He's not doing a damn thing he doesn't want to do at this point, nor should he

Re-post from the other thread:

I dunno if I can watch a re-casted Drax. Dave is perfect in the role and I would be sad to see him go. GOTG & GOTG2 are among my favorites films in the MCU and this whole thing is just heart breaking honestly.

Batista might set a new standard here but it generally doesn't work like that.

Yeah I know. But those Guardian movies bring in a bunch of money for Disney. 2nd movie made 863 million worldwide. Disney needs to fix this and the easiest way would be to hire Gunn. General audience doesn't care who the director is for a movie. But when Bautista phones in his role (and maybe other actors) for the 3rd film and the critics bash the movie for it, well those people might notice.

That's what I mean how much do they have to change before they don't have to give him credit
It's complicated: https://www.wga.org/contracts/credits/manuals/screen-credits-manual

c. Additional Guidelines for the Arbiters in Determining Screenplay Credit

In each case, the arbiters read any source material and all literary material provided to them in connection with the development of the final screenplay in order to assess the contribution of each writer to the final shooting script.

The percentage contribution made by writers to screenplay obviously cannot be determined by counting lines or even the number of pages to which a writer has contributed. Arbiters must take into consideration the following elements in determining whether a writer is entitled to screenplay credit:

■ dramatic construction;
■ original and different scenes;
■ characterization or character relationships; and
■ dialogue.

It is up to the arbiters to determine which of the above-listed elements are most important to the overall values of the final screenplay in each particular case. A writer may receive credit for a contribution to any or all of the above-listed elements. It is because of the need to understand contributions to the screenplay as a whole that professional expertise is required on the part of the arbiters. For example, there have been instances in which every line of dialogue has been changed and still the arbiters have found no significant change in the screenplay as a whole. On the other hand, there have been instances where far fewer changes in dialogue have made a significant contribution to the screenplay as a whole. In addition, a change in one portion of the script may be so significant that the entire screenplay is affected by it.

I respect where he's coming from but Dave....my man....you should have thought about this before you went public.

The script was done. Gunn finished it and turned it in the week before all this went down. It was intended to be his final film in the trilogy. This sucks.

I heard they are thinking of hiring the director of Thor Ragnarok. If so, bring in Thor as a full time member. In the comics it was Iron Man, then Venom. But i think Thor would be awesome on the series. Plus, the guardians lineup does change from time to time. They can live on with a new director, new writer, new cast members. It's not DOA. it wil jsut change, probably for the worst because Gunn had style.

My pick, hire Edgar Wright to do a subtle relaunch after part 3.

I agree. Still aggravating though.

Why is this thread shitting on Pratt? He has done as much as everyone except Bautista in this matter, but folks have pitch-forks out for him. Who cares what his politics are or if he wanted time to reflect before deciding how to act?

This is why Disney buying Fox is such a bad idea. What actor is going to stand up to a company that would pretty much be Hollywood?!

If Infinity War showed me anything, it's that Pratt, Bautista, and Saldana benefit greatly from Gunn's direction and him being out of the director's chair now doesn't really bode well. Especially if Disney drops his script. The last thing Guardians 3 needs is a Ron Howard-esque "play it safe" affair.

Also, y'all need to pull your heads out of your ass with all this vitriol towards Pratt. The dude believes in something, stop being so cynical and move the fuck on.

Literally just about to post this myself. He's done no less than Saldana, Diesel, Cooper etc and yet he's getting hammered for it. Plus we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes aside from his public comments on Twitter!

Probably because he has the most pull of anyone, acts like a "nice guy" who is "Christian and moral", yet won't stand up and defend someone that is practically the reason he is as big as he is now. Whereas Bautista, for as awesome as Drax is, has way less pull, yet is sticking his neck out.

It's like the rich guy in a Benz rolling down his window to say "God bless you!" to a homeless person, and the next guy driving by in a Civic gives him his last bit of cash in his wallet.

JMO.

Side note: Saldana could be written out of GOTG 3 and Bradley Cooper is just voicing a CGI character... I'd argue they have more to lose and again, not close to the pull that Pratt has.

Disney doesn't have to say a damn thing. They already released their statement.

As for the script, I mean we don't know what's in the script. What if it calls for a bigger role for Drax and Disney decides that they want to fade him out now? Hmm.

lol Republican The Rock wouldn't say shit.

I really hope that wouldn't be the case because everything he does in his life suggests he's a man of humbleness and morality when it comes down to it. As far as his (R) allegiance... I don't think he's that kind of Republican

They are going to pull "My Wife and Kids", where they replaced the actress playing the daughter mid-season and they played it off as "she just got new hairstyle".

Pretty proud to be a bigger fan of Drax than most other MCU dudes when I see stuff like this from the actor, lol.

This whole thing has become such a shitshow and it's entirely Disney's fault. They blew this whole thing up way more than it was ever going to be for absolutely no reason. They're idiots and cowards.

They're still pissed at him for letting half the universe perish.

Oh and he's religious. That always seems to bring out the pitchforks

lol at anyone thinking Edgar Wright would touch this movie. The dude who bristled at Marvel pushing an outside agenda onto his film is going to join a flick concluding a three-movie arc, one that's already been set up as "launching" a huge expansion of the Cosmic MCU?
