What happens if you're under contract and refuse to do the film? Does he have like an exit clause or does such thing get actors sued or even black listed?

Depends on the contract but usually, you have to forfeit a SHIT TON of money to the studio. Like probably everything he's ever made as Drax and then some.

Hope he doesn't go down with this ship. Not using Gunn's script would be kind of stupid though.

At this rate this will be the new GotG team.

The lack of comment from Disney certainly fuels speculation they are considering a reversal, but if nothing happened and Bautista was part of the next movie, imagine the kinda shit he'd be saying during the whole publicity tour.

Batista is a very decent man.

I don't care who directs Vol.3 but I'd be sad for Drax's arc to be awkwardly cut short.

Chris Pratt continues to disappoint.

I think that if Pratt were to really put his foot down, Gunn would be rehired.

But I don't know, there's rumors of him really liking Trump.
Pretty sure he said he doesn't feel represented by either political party. He did once make a comment about blue collar workers not being represented enough in Hollywood, which he later apologised for and admitted was dumb.

Batista has a fantastic quitting legacy thus far, if he bows out of Guardians it'll be in style!

Disney can legally force him to do the movie, but that would just be a bad move for everyone involved (he'd phone it in and it would rekindle the scandal all the way to the premiere and press junkets). It's more likely that if they want another script they'll just let him go and kill the character off-screen or something.

its nice that he's willing to stick his neck out, but wouldn't it be stronger to make the condition that they bring him back?

who knows how much of a script gunn's even written. let alone by the time they start filming how much will be changed.

this is kinda how I see it being handled. drax's story can easily end w/ thanos

I would imagine the cast knows how the script looks, especially for a series.

Damn, now that is a bold move that I can completely relate to right now. I think Gunn being fired sucks, especially sse ince it's for the wrong reasons, but I think that Disney has cast their die and it's something difficult to walk back as well as something hard for the cast to completely throw their weight behind, since I'm sure some are a bit torn on putting their career on the line for the possibility that the outrage over the Tweets is something that also taints their careers. If they were to this as an opportunity to expunge Gunn's complete script and therefore his last input into the MCU, as a fan, I have a bigger issue with that.

With his script intact, they wouldn't have to delay the film if it's coming out in May 2020, he'd still get to seed the direction for the Cosmic universe the way he intended in the MCU regardless if he ever worked in the MCU again following vol 3 anyways, he'd get to complete his arcs for the characters, and I think another director could step in to the role to direct Gunn's script without too much fallout creatively.

If they get rid of his script, that seems like an especially vindictive move beyond firing him and refusing to hire him in the future. Even the thought of a page one rewrite sounds like a disaster for many reasons and I could see the cast being upset because that degree of shake up could really taint the entire franchise and therefore the trajectory of their careers if it goes poorly. Of course their is also the personal angle of this that getting rid of Gunn's script is not the same as getting rid of a person for whatever they may have said, and at the very least, they wouldn't just be throwing Gunn under the bus for the initial controversy, but trying to drag his name through the mud on his way out. That's like some Konami/Kojima type shit.

We could all use a friend like Dave Bautista. Disney has fucked this up every which way they possibly could.

I look forward to Bautista raising the stakes yet again in the future.

Good on Batista, he's sticking up for what he believes is right.

I gotta say though, some of you got some issues, getting mad at someone for praying on something is one of the most ridiculous shit I have seen. People use prayer to reflect on something, I don't see the issue with that.

Working on that also.
People in here comparing Drax to Ed Norton Hulk and Terrence Howard War Machine aren't comparing early, broke, pre Disney marvel. To present day, strong, multi billion dollar making, brand marvel. This is not the same thing. Drax is an established character with multiple appearances and is a fan favorite character (I can't count all the "I'm invisible like Drax" memes I saw after infinity war) if you think Disney can just replace him and call it a day then you are wrong. I bet someone just threw their phone accross the room at marvel because of this.

This right here is a fucking man, a man of actual principle. I'd like to think The Rock would do the same although he's faaaar better off than Batista $$$ wise so he'd stand to lose a whole lot less

Disney doesn't have to say a damn thing. They already released their statement.

As for the script, I mean we don't know what's in the script. What if it calls for a bigger role for Drax and Disney decides that they want to fade him out now? Hmm.

Just rewatched Infinity War last night and Drax was the funniest character throughout the movie. Had me laughing out loud again during some of his lines. Disney would be smart to not piss off the talent.
