Fucking finally. Pathetic that it took this long and they needed other companies to take it off first before they had the balls to do it.

YouTube is still a shithole. They should've done this years ago and if they were serious and not just riding Apple's coat-tails they'd purge all the copycats too.

They were. This thread is a bizarro Apple wank fest.

As I recall in the Spotify thread, people were praising Apple saying things like, "this is why Apple music is the best". But then people were later informed that his content was actually on that platform too.

But then I got confused because I think people were explaining that the content can still find its to Spotify and other platforms due to RSS feeds?

Is there a distinct reason Apple is getting all this praise now compared to Spotify? Maybe because they are the giant that pushed everyone else to make the move immediately?

At the very least, they should stop pushing that vile crap, although I assume this is 100% intentional.

YouTube really deserves a serious competitor.
Youtube has been punching ads almost exclusively for PragerU, NRA, and this new "CRTV" featuring Gavin McInnes, Stephen Crowder, literally pushing he "TO OWN THE LIBS!" garbage. Youtube is ironically desperate after Adpocalypse.

The thing that bothers me about this is it doesn't seem to be in response to anything specific.

He has done enough in the past to warrant this type of action, but the tech companies didn't respond. Now, one does and they all follow? What it underlines is that there is no coherent understanding of what constitutes as hate speech, and that rather than guidelines dictating whether action is taken, it seems PR is the greatest factor in constituting "hate speech".

If Apple hadn't removed his podcasts, Spotify and the others wouldn't have reacted. And cue the head-scratching of everyone who has at one point or another 'reported' hateful speech on Twitter and Facebook only for those posts to remain online.

As far as I know, Spotify removed certain episodes of his podcasts - not the entire archive. Apple wiped the whole thing off their servers.

I'm happy about this.

I love to see the left vs right on twitter, this is about sanity vs insanity, not "left vs right".

Good that he can't gain additional followers now. If his content stays banned like this.
His existing followers will just regard him as martyr of course.

Fucking crazy that this was started by Apple. First thing I see in my phone's news feed is the one about Facebook.

The same alt right who supported denying a gay couple a cake and opposed the NFL protests are defending Alex Jones, because of course they are. The can feel that their time is almost up, won't be too long before advertisers start cutting these Nazis fucks off their revenue stream.

Because the people running these services all live in the same little bubble. There's no moral or business reason for it, they just decided one day to use their power and it momentarily did some good.

If it wasn't infowars I think people would be asking more questions about why this decision was arbitrarily applied by all the big tech companies at the same time and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

It's been quite a year and a half for Alex. Losing his kids, getting sued repeatedly, now losing his main source of distribution and income.

The thing is, this is the absolute wrong response even from a conservative perspective. In line with what they claim to believe, they should be saying "private corporation. Their house, their rules."

Shapiro was wrong on James Damore too, protesting his firing from Google. It's like, aren't you the free market people? Maybe they are scared their views will get crowded out by this "free market."
