At this point, it doesn't have any importance.

Every week, we're seeing something like 20 quality indie releases, in a diverse range of genres.

I don't need announcements to be hyped for.

This is of course true and we even saw that with the last nindies direct, when numerous developers announced projects for Switch on the day of that direct or just after.

However, I like watching those directs and basically every released game from the last one ranged from decent to amazing.

I don't need to be hyped, because every week has something new, but I don't mind having a short look at some of the future content. I do hope that there won't be a next Hollow Knight though in terms of anticipation. The constant questioning and complaining about the release date got old really fast (as if there wouldn't be a topic on the front page for days on end once they announced their release date). Such a laser focus on one title doesn't make sense to me either, with so many quality releases every single week on every platform.

Nice.
I actually got Flat Heroes after trying the demo. The game is pretty solid for now and challenging.
N++ clearly has a lot more content and more focused on fast and precise platforming while Flat heroes i would say is more focused in platforming surviving in the middle of chaos sometimes. xD
Really awesome games. Both run very well on the switch.

Nice to hear that the final version of 'Flat Heroes' runs smoothly on Switch.

I tried the demo, and there were some framerate hiccups.

By the way, the final Steam release has been a rollercoaster for me.

After the latest patch, the game doesn't run on my Mac anymore, probably because I'm in an old operating system.

And ironically, while the game is made in Unity, and the demo struggled in Switch... in the much less powerful GPD Win, the game runs like a dream, at 60 FPS.

So I suppose that the problems in the demo were because they were stressed with so many releases and builds for a small team.

Played some levels this weekend, and they deserve the comparison with 'N++'. They are in the same tier regarding its SMART level design.

Both games, 'Flat Heroes' and 'N++' feel like theoretical manifests about how to design a platforming game.

They deserve every sale. It's the greatest Switch exclusive console debut that nobody is talking about this month.

I feel like the Flat Heroes demo was a older build. While not 100% perfect, for me the game runs lot smoother than the demo.

I feel like this month is hard for smaller indies on the switch since huge names like Dead Cells and Overcooked are releasing and being all the major talks and hype.
For me this week i want to try Flipping Death and i fear the game will get buried since this week is all about Dead Cells, Overcooked, Minit and unexplored i think.

I guess this is what happens when cool games are always coming out every week. xD
I hope Iconoclasts had a good release last week on the Switch than it had when it came out on PS4/PC since there it came out on the same time as Celeste and got totally buried by Celeste hype.

I remember getting this game the day it came out being very hyped for it and then just not feeling it. Forgot what I got it for...maybe PC. Did they add a lot over time?

Either way the sequel looks awesome, maybe I should get this on Switch and give it another go.

Yeah, the game looks fun but I'm hesitant to buy it as I might not enjoy it.

By the way, seeing your 'Chu Chu Rocket' inspired avatar, you have the release this week of a small indie game imitating its mechanics, 'BlobCat'. And including online multiplayer :)

Thank you for pointing this out! So freaking crazy that Sega has let Chu Chu Rocket die when it could be easy money. I'll be checking out BlobCat to get my Chu Chu fix!

The demo of 'Ultra Space Battle Brawl' is legit, it has completely sold me the game.

Basically, it's like 'Windjammers' on fucking stereoids.

And with music of Manami Matsumae, the composer of 'Mega Man'.

A bloody brilliant use of pixel art, tight controls, easy to learn mechanics and an ultra arcadey and fast-paced gameplay.

It really adds TONS of elements and gimmicks to the layout of 'Windjammers', feeling like a refined and vastly improved sequel.

Like a crazy and over-the-top 2 vs 2 players mode.

Iconoclasts isn't even in the top 30 over here. It's filled with games that are on sale right now though. Salt and Sanctuary is 11th in digital only. (22th in combined)

Flipping Death for Nintendo Switch | Chapter 1 - A Lick of Death Gameplay

Thanks for the gameplay. didn't watch a lot to not be spoiled but the game looks to be good and right what i wanted.
I also checked a video review and the game seems to be a solid job on the switch.

I noticed that to. The sales are really agressive in stuff like enter the gungeon so it's natural a lot of sale games went into the top 30.

Something tells me I won't like Dead Cells. I can't quite put my finger on it but I think , unfairly, it's because I came off Hollow Knight, challenging and a metroidvania itself, and did not like that one at all and seeing people hyped for DC worries me lol.

I may just pick up Okami but hell if I have 50 hours to beat a game that should have half the length of whats there.

Sigh.

'A Dark Room', one of the greatest classics in experimental storytelling released in iOS, has been announced for Switch.

It's great to see that slowly, some of the landmarks released in the most fertile and creative years of the Apple platform are coming to Switch.

This game is as important in the medium as 'Framed' is, or as the Simogo games were.

I thought I had until today at 12am to pre-purchase Dead Cells with the discount, but judging by the posts above... well, I am (along with everybody else that thought the same) screwed. :(

I tried reaching out to the devs via Twitter but no reply so far. They've been responsive to others, but we're probably SoL. Guess it's only $5?

Yeah, there is currently a trend in these treads about saying to people what they should do or not to do with their money.

The customers are not stupid, and anybody reading these threads is a well informed person, knowing the schedule of releases and having a vast knowledge of the track record of every company.

Haha, you're giving the consumer too much credit. Why are marketing budgets for games so high? A huge reason is to draw in the casual (which there are plenty here in Era, & that's fine) to purchase xxxxxx on release day.

However... I've never labeled anyone stupid. And such a leading mindset is part of the problem in platform threads- I want these very gamers to not make regrettable purchases. With your insinuation, you probably want to create more Nintendo or Developer fanboys (something in the middle?). wesman, framed it that we should kinda blindly purchase buggy AA & AAA titles to promote & encourage more development specifically for the Switch.

I want the Switch to succeed, but I care about gamers First- fullstop.

...knowing the schedule of releases and having a vast knowledge of the track record of every company.

I'm not referring to the admirable tolkir

But then, I don't need to say to every person interested in this game, every time that they state their interest in the game, that they are making a mistake buying the game or supporting the developer.

ONLY positive comments or stfu? ;) Why do you innately believe that there's a mission to sabotage devs or another consumer's decision? I do think some of us here make thorough purchasing decisions- yet we've seen time & time again, users wondering about title xxxxx when impressions was just posted above him/her. Ugh, basic researching involves running a search inquiry.

If someone's repeated opinion for a title is bothersome (even though members here continue to ask again & again...) then Block him or her, because that's what community users do- inform.

The truth in the case of a game like 'Tintan Quest', is that there is a hardcore fanbase interested in games with the layout of 'Diablo'.

There is no other game playing like 'Diablo' in Switch. 'Tintan Quest' is the only available game, period.

Um... so every fan of Diablo, BlindBuy? That's concentrated fanboy language; instead we should be trying to Warn those that are interested in Titan Quest, where:

  • Your Save maybe gone after xx hours
  • No cloud backup solution
  • Rare items could vanish
  • Hard stage crashes
  • Skills not activating
Should they choose to purchase afterwards, then that's their choice. I don't enjoy it when that same enthusiast leaves the Genre which I'm a fan of, because the issues above has affected them... & there are plenty of such gamers upset at xxx hours of progress Lost. Some here aren't aware, days ago I've posted a link. To those interested, click here.

Taking into account that in a game like this, an enthusiast of the genre can easily put 200 hours, I don't need to say him that he is making a bad investment. Or linking to him articles with negative press about the game, because this person is an enthusiast of the genre, and he has probably read about his anticipated games much more than me.

Yes, probably but not Certainly... hence the information. What the "needs" are of any enthusiast isn't for us to Decide. If they ask about a title then, they're kinda knowledgeable & kinda not- correct?

People become extremely critic about every aspect of these games, probably because they are pissed by the price of the game.

Price is definitely a talking point- though the bugs are more pressing & urgent... should we exclude this subject entirely when others here inquire about Titan Quest or any other game?

With 'Titan Quest' I have seen this campaign, trying to reply to every user buying or interested in the game. And do you know why? This person doesn't need your wisdom, and he doesn't need someone trying to manage his finances.

Then let him or her block or better yet, Report these indefensible comments. I haven't read such Pro-dev & console fanaticalism (sp) in a long while. You haven't once stated that this release has troubling issues. :/

Let's stop saying to people what the hell they should do or not do with their money.

No. If someone is asking: "Should I buy this? Is this good?" then we are all in the position to comment on the possible purchase.

It's fine if you are no interested in a game because of the price, but you don't need to reply to every user expressing his interest in the game.

Ask the Mods to make this a rule. Otherwise, No. Obviously, necro-ing a quote isn't advised.

Because in this way, we will create a toxic environment, in which the good and nice people will run away from these threads.

Block, Report, what you View as toxicity.

In the same way, there is an unfortunate trend of people expressing opinions or trying to recommend games to other people, without having played the games.

People, especially Enthusiast to a particular genre, do not have to buy & play anything when offering opinions if there are wide-spread

  • Game-Breaking bugs
  • Frame-Rate issues (which particularly bothers them)
Critic reviews, popular streams, & fellow gamer impressions are very, very RELIABLE.

Seriously, all the people in these threads are well informed people, reading reviews, news in the press.

Seriously, they're not. Epilexia, I'm telling you as you compose detailed impressions on games that I find interesting & appreciate. Do not be short-sighted here. If I post bugs & an indication to not purchase something yet... it's for everyone including the numerous Lurkers & possibly new additions to Era.

It has no sense to link to him a review of the game, saying that the game is "awful", because he has already read this review.

You'll be surprised how some readers understand something better after a community discussion.

It's very fun to read "you probably want to create more Nintendo or Developer fanboys", said to a person who completely ignores the corporations and the marketing. Indeed, I think that in a lot of months I haven't purchased a single title made by more than 4 persons :)

If you want to take my message as a direct allusion to your person, I'm fine with this. I will not discuss.

I created a message calling to a positive climate, after various pages of derailing the thread with a nonsensical discussion and personal attacks to a fellow user in the community. I will not derail the thread through the toxicity again. And this is my last answer, you can quote as much sentences from this answer as you like.

Or to say this in other manner: I have zero interest in 'Titan Quest', or in discussing about this game. But I found disgusting the personal attacks to wesman . Trying to insinuate that the opinions of a fellow and respected member in this community were not valid.

And a clarification, as you insist in abuse of the expression "gamer".

I don't consider myself a gamer. And I see the expression gamer as something pejorative.

Indeed, I'm very proud of not being, not feeling like a gamer. I will never use the expression gamer in none of my arguments.

And once the expression "gamer" is used to construct a speech, I really don't have anything to say.

Same. I was gonna pre-order it today after seeing the reviews, but now that they decided to end the deal early fuck that. I'll get it later when it's on sale. Something about pulling the promotion as soon as reviews hit gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

I have the SF30 Pro and the DPad is fantastic. The controller itself is great, works flawlessly and feels comfortable.

My doubt is about how confortable he is. We know, SNES controller wasnt so confortable, and i've my doubts if SF30 Pro is good enough in these aspects. Have u notice differences betweeen the versions?

I never once said anyone should buy any game period, yet alone one to support AA or AAA growth. It wasn't my intention to, that's for sure. I stated multiple times, that I didn't care for people, like yourself....actively....disuading other users from a purchase, that they themselves haven't made. That's a logical, rational, and fair minded approach, to indie games, and AAA games. I also specifically mentioned how WWE2K18 was a title I entirely did not recommend as a port, based on my own experiences, and it being widely known as a very failed and left behind port.

Regarding your own quote above about fellow gamers being very, very reliable and trustworthy, I don't quite understand why I don't fall into that category and maybe deserve more acknowledgement than criticism.

I genuinely appreciate your thoughts here Epilexia. I really only wished to state my impressions, and that from what I had experienced firsthand, the game was fun and worthwhile if a person wanted to engage this title. I think credibility should come from being earnest, enthusiastic, optimistic, and above all realistic, and that's my approach towards gaming, and also wishing to respect the words and thoughts of fellow users here as well. That said, if I see a lack of credibility from users, what I feel to be anyway, and spreading naysaying that might not be justified, I'll certainly bring that up for discussion.

All of that said, there may indeed be issues down the road I haven't experienced with Titan Quest or just in general. That's entirely a possibility, but this has been a fun game so far, and I feel more weird shame/stigma towards this game from the peculiar backlash towards it/myself. But that's life really, we all engage art, and with that possibly welcome conflict along with discussion and joy, and ideally growth above all within those experiences.

Again, if anyone wishes to discuss anything in particular, my inbox is always open, and I appreciate the dialog in this thread from the varied perspectives, whether I agree with them or not.

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness towards me Epilexia, and your effervescent enthusiasm and knowledge that you present in a daily basis. There's a lot of good folks on this board, and it's really the one social media thread I follow along with mostly daily. Good on everybody I say! :)

Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo decides they won't put it back up though. Since release seemed to be based on region and the store is region-free, I imagine they don't want people buying it cheap when it's out. Although they could just run a launch promotion if they also wanted to.

Talking about DPADs, every DPAD is a good DPAD until you try to play a game using diagonals, in which an added direction can completely change the movement.

Until this day, while I read a lot of terror stories about the Pro Controller DPAD, I haven't experienced the problems. Because none of the games that I played abused of diagonals.

Only playing 'Slime-San' in docked mode, I realized how bad is the DPAD. Like seriously, a lot of times, when you try to rapidly change to a single straight direction, you will unintentionally push the up direction.

In 'Slime-San', if you want to dash in a direction, but you push the up button, it doesn't matter if it's in combination with an horizontal direction, you are fucked up. The character will make a short vertical jump, instead of a long dash in this direction.

I'm dying A LOT for mistakes in how Nintendo designed the DPAD.

The worst thing, is that I have read the same terror stories about the 8bitdo DPADs. In theory all it's fine. Until you try to play games with advanced diagonals.

I have reached a point in which I really miss to have the vanilla separated buttons of the Joycons in the Pro Controller.

At least, with these buttons, you will never fail a movement. I prefer separated buttons to a bad design in the DPAD, causing incorrect inputs because of mistakes in its design.

It's weird to say that while Nintendo invented the DPAD, and they always created great DPADs with all of their consoles, and I always hated the Sony DPADs, in this generation things have changed. I love the DPAD in my Dual Shock 4 and I have never failed a single input. It's one of my favorite DPADs for 2D platformers.

And the Controller Pro has one of the worst DPADs that I have seen in a official controller.

But as we can't live in a perfect world: I really hate the sticks in the Dual Shock 4.

In this part, kudos to Nintendo: they have created with the Pro Controller the most accurate analog sticks since the Gamecube one, AKA the Super Monkey Ball official controller (™).

I hyped this on release and got no response. I've been playing it more and was surprised at how deep this game can get. Each character actually plays differently and the supers are the main reason. It's a shame they have no marketing budget cuz I'm sure the sales sucked. Such a great gem. And unlike disc jam, its not just a ripoff but its own unique game. The animation, art, quirky story, and music is all top-tier.

People that slept on the Dead Cells preorder after all that time and are now saying pass because it went up $5 to it's regular price are crazy. The game is amazing. It would be worth it for $30 or $40. Don't boohoo because you procrastinated on the preorder price and now have to give a good studio an extra $5 they are worthy of having. C'mon, it's still better than all other games coming this week/month.

Any chance Dead Cells unlocks at midnight? Cause it would be nice to be able to play in 2 hours.
